I'm Irish American and this is tame stuff compared to what we get up to at wakes and funerals. I miss my uncles who could have everyone laughing so hard at a wake that we'd be crying and people passing by would think, "Aw, they're so sad." Meanwhile, we were drunk off our butz and telling jokes about the dead person.
I love it.. It was different and it celebrated his home going!!! Maybe he was in a fraternity and these r his frat brothers. Either way much respect for this very very classy homecoming celebration! !!!
I think it's absolutely wonderful! We have to keep in mind, that the passing of a loved one should be a celebration! And it should be exactly the way the deceased wanted it to be....and real! Bravo!
This was not a real funeral. It was a display put on by Harris Funeral Home of St. Louis (Funeral Boss) while at a Black Morticians' Convention in new Orleans. I can only hope that I can go out like that. Remember, the funeral is for the living not the dead.
this comment really needs to be put into the description so people will not get the wrong impression...but then again whoever loaded with the smart comment in the discription had that intent. I guess. :(
It's not a fraternity nor is it a real funeral. It's a funeral home convention where different funeral homes come together and network. This particular funeral home actually makes a whole lot of money doing any where from 3-4 funerals a day
This funeral home is William C Harris here in St. Louis and they way violence is here he really does 3 to 4 funerals a some times more. He done my all of family funerals
As long as the family was not offended, then no one else has a valid opinion. This is the way they decided to put their loved one to rest. Not my style, but I respect their individuality and the dedication and love those brothers had to have had for their fallen brother.
let me tell u something u big ole double triple chinned monster. your opinion is the one that's not valid. if u can sit your big butt on here and say what you think, then so can everybody else.
Harold Melvin You are irrelevant and quite idiotic. However, being unattractive to you is a blessing I will thank the good Lord for forever!! #idontdostupid
Nah. These men are "White Glove Professional Pallbearers". These men are not related to the deceased. This is an additional service offered by John B. Houston Funeral Home here in NY and also in NJ. This is a service that the family, friends, or whomever is handling the details of the service pays for. It's close to $2,000 I think. Although they're not actually wearing "white gloves" in this particular set.
This was performed at my grandfathers funeral and it put a smile on my face as a representation of celebration. Many may not understand but I love it!!
I find this ceremony to be beautifully done, If you knew your bibles you would know a death is not supposed to be time a time of mourning but instead a celebration. Just because people aren't sitting around crying and in dismay does not mean they don't know how to "act". If noone ever told you everyone was supppse to wear black and be sad, how would funerals go then? Society lives and breathes by standards and customs they "think are "required". You all will bring negativity to any positive thing. The last ceremony of his memory was filled with smiles and happiness to attach to his memory, now that's an exit you should want to have.
Gaggy Mott Jesus wept not because Lazarus had died but because of their lack of faith and belief that Jesus can raise the dead and that he has all power. He purposefully waited until Lazarus had died and in the grave 4 days to perform that miracle of resurrection. A lot of people think Jesus wept because Lazarus had died but that’s not true. Jesus is the resurrection so why would he cry if he can raise him from the dead. My Pastor preached about this.
This is a beautiful, meaningful and touching way to say goodbye to a loved one. Instead of sadness, the people attending celebrate the life and passage thru earth and material life of the person. His name is not on the clip, but my respect, prayers and love to his family. May His Memory Be Blessed!
I don't see it as tricks at all, but a creative way to honor the deceased. I don't see the men acting inappropriately but giving of themselves and the song is not goofy at all. God is totally creative and full of life - even when things are hard. Why can't we be? By the way, I'm white.
TrayTrayBaby my nigga, it woulda been on! you dancing and twirling my family member? not holding it with both hands? nah fam. plus of know anything about freemasonry their members or sacrifices are carried out above the shoulder
I dont even know what to think about this! Different for sure, wouldnt want done to my funeral but I guess the family likes it, and thats what matters!
+Hood Kuntry, Just sharing info, but funerals are often conducted in the "evening" when the remains are being shipped out of State for burial .. such as between 6-8 PM. But it varies from State to State. They didn't used to conduct funerals on Sunday, but in some places, they do now.
It's all funny to them but if it had fell and the body rolled out they would be running. but I don't blame them I would too. Totally would be like, "Alright, put Uncle Leroy back in the casket and no more showing off". Maybe he was a humorous person that wanted a funny send off.
This was very respectful and tasteful. I'd be afraid that somebody would mess up and drop my loved one though. Accidents happen. However, it was very regal.
this is actually the staff of harris funeral home feature on funeral boss show, this was at the funeral convention in new orleans, check their show out "funeral boss"
It's been along standing practice in African and African American communities to celebrate the dead this way. I wasn't aware there are competitions but That's cool, too. That's got to be a trying and depressing line of work. We all need an outlet. Hell, if they can have air guitar competitions, why not this? :o)
+Rayn Female Producer You're right about this being a tradition in African communities (Ghana specifically) but I'm not sure about it being one in African American communities. I'm black, 42 years old, and this video is the first I ever saw this. I have to agree with the person who posted it--shenanigans is the right word, along with "disrespectful." People cheering and taking pictures like they're at a concert or something.
+Heather Aston But again I state, this is just a competition between people of a like profession shoeing each other skill and respect. Cheering and pics are cool.
Ah guys the metal caskets have a locking system so if the casket drops most likely the body would stay inside. 20 Years ago my grandmothers casket was locked at the funeral home, at the gravesite when all of us pallbearers were setting her casket on the bars the straps were not locked and it went to fall, the doors stayed shut the entire time.
they are from a funeral home in Dallas Texas called golden gate...they came to do this a one of our church members funeral a few months ago....we was just looking like " bro. dyers probably mad they shaking him around that." lol
Awesome! I thought it was very "respectful" and "honoring" to the deceased. I would like to have my final walk to be like that...truly going home, praising God all the way!
This is Harris funeral home , the inspiration of my future I always wanted to own a funeral home and, for those who do not know this called stepping and it is traditional especially for funerals in Louisiana......L.I.F.E#
A funeral is a solemn moment to remember and pay respect to the person who has passed on, not some circus event! I find it distasteful and out of order.
I hope none of the older mourners didn't pass away during these shenanigans. This kind of theatrics is for the living to showcase their limited talents,
we people of African ancestry have always celebrated life at funerals...lease don't call it Shenanigans because it is not "white" enough, Respect other people's choices. smh
hatimjm1 "White enough"? Really? Saying someone is racist because they call for respectful decency? I agree that we should respect other people's choices. I'd add "respect people's intentions" as well. I'm glad that people of African ancestry respect life at funerals. People of every other race do as well. People don't have to be familiar with all funeral ceremonies to celebrate life. Blessings be with you.
+hatimjm1 Yes we(ALL PEOPLE) should celebrate at funerals but doing TRICKS with somebodys casket is a whole other level! (the steps were cool when they were all together)
hatimjm1 because all white funerals are full of shenanigans? Don't play the race card, dude, and don't say that about any funeral regardless of race, customs, grieving process of the family, etc. Each funeral is unique and the decedent's wishes, culture, and customs should be respected.
That spin that they hit at the end was the coldest thing I ever saw in my life lol.
Loved it
I love the way they walked in. His singing was on point. I want this at my funeral
Me to
I'm Irish American and this is tame stuff compared to what we get up to at wakes and funerals. This isn't "shenanigans"! This is honor and respect!!
"None so blind as those who will not see"

Thanks for clarifying. The place looked like a convention center ballroom. But, WHY all this then?
Sorta. It also serves to represent how the person was/lived. I thought that was cool myself.
What a tribute to celebrate a homegoing.
how is this funny or wrong, ppl are too simple. this is amazing
it actually is beautiful, until the guy nearly falls over
I don't know, the person who posted, titled and called this shenanigans is an idiot
I think it's great! It's a way for the family to remember the loved one
its creative and sorry for your loss, but what if they accidentally dropped the casket? i mean geez
wouldnt be the end of the world, and certainly wont matter to the dead body in it..
Burn me ain't nobody about to be playing with my casket now... 😂😂😂😂😯
I want these guys at my funeral. They put the FUN back in Funeral!
Ok marching was nice but when they started doing tricks with the casket I was done!
exactly
Indeed! Too far, too far.
MZGREAT lmfaoo
Im still like what did i just watch
You know it WILL go..if they keep doin it?? They should have made it spin in the air and tried to catch it.
When they turned around with it still on their shoulders and not holding on to it...holy shit, my heart stopped for a second!
It's not a fraternity nor is it a real funeral. It's a funeral home convention where different funeral homes come together and network. This particular funeral home actually makes a whole lot of money doing any where from 3-4 funerals a day
Michael McWilliams u from new orleans

Harold Melvin Did you really have to go there? Learn some respect.
Harold Melvin You are irrelevant and quite idiotic. However, being unattractive to you is a blessing I will thank the good Lord for forever!! #idontdostupid
Harold Melvin Fucking lol, MADE MY FUCKING DAY XD

This DID NOT TAKE PLACE AT A FUNERAL! This was a presentation at the National Funeral directors Convention. Thank you
Oh well thank you for the clarification but I would welcome this if someone did that for me. It was beautiful and respectful
I'm sure the casket was empty too. That explains how they were able to switch shoulders like that so easily.
Downtown St Louis Marriott it looks like. William C Harris Funeral Home
Keiondra Sanders thank goodness! But how were we to know it wasn't real
Shut the fck up! I am seen many coffin ⚰️ dancing shit fail video everywhere in Internet.
This was performed at my grandfathers funeral and it put a smile on my face as a representation of celebration. Many may not understand but I love it!!
Talented God I understand it was great.
I love it alot of people wouldn't like this because all the crying and greving if you believe in the Bible and faith you would understand
Are you telling me that this dancing was in 2013
Ok this officially has been added to my playlist of hot jokes! This is too much!
I find this ceremony to be beautifully done, If you knew your bibles you would know a death is not supposed to be time a time of mourning but instead a celebration. I agree totally
Why did Jesus himself weep at the death of his friend, Lazarus? Of course it's a time for sadness and mourning.
Gaggy Mott
Jesus wept not because Lazarus had died but because of their lack of faith and belief that Jesus can raise the dead and that he has all power.
I wore a shirt that says "happy" in colts to my grandma's funeral. You would feel or think that your relatives will think it's disrespectful....
I fond it to be ridiculous.
Why they acting like the temptations...😂
💀💀💀😂😂😂
The temptations was women you dumb bitch
Misty Anderson No they weren’t lol
its called turning up with your loved one, one last time. #Respect
Elijah Lofipo Periodttt
your fam turning up while you trying to rest... but this was great
This is a beautiful, meaningful and touching way to say goodbye to a loved one. Instead of sadness, the people attending celebrate the life and passage thru earth and material life of the person. His name is not on the clip, but my respect, prayers and love to his family. May His Memory Be Blessed!
If only!!!! This is beautiful, and all attention and salutes are for the deceased. My condolences family..🌹❤️🙏
It’s a convention, not a real funeral.
What creativity rite here! This how I wanna go out!
You gotta love it. Great dancing and venue to leave this world in!
This brought tears to my eyes. Very Respectful with an Innovative Touch.
This is extraordinary. I love it!!
If this was my funeral I will be honored
I don't see it as tricks at all, but a creative way to honor the deceased. I don't see the men acting inappropriately but giving of themselves and the song is not goofy at all. God is totally creative and full of life - even when things are hard. Why can't we be?

What in the Sam Hell!?
My thoughts exactly
Girl I have no words...
TrayTrayBaby my nigga, it woulda been on! you dancing and twirling my family member? not holding it with both hands? nah fam. plus of know anything about freemasonry their members or sacrifices are carried out above the shoulder
TrayTrayBaby 😂😂😂
My exact thoughts LOL.😀
Funeral or convention I like it very much, it can help bring a smile to a weary grieving face....
I have the feeling that the deceased approved of his Going Home Service. That's all that matters here.
I want to go out like this, us black people celebrate the life the person lived. Rejoice and celebrate the life the person lived.
Comes from Africa to New Orleans and other places down south.
Niesha C right
Showboating ?
Its dark in there and that march is spooky as hell.
I dont even know what to think about this! Different for sure, wouldnt want done to my funeral but I guess the family likes it, and thats what matters!
wonderful voice...
Some very sore shoulders tomorrow morning 😖 Poor guy inside saying “Just put me down already, before I throw up!”
OmyGOODNESS I was soooo dam scared they'd drop the casket. I just wanted them to STOP
To me this just looks like male birds dancing for vanity. I haven't a clue why they would do this?
Tacky tacky TACKY ! What is this a variety show number? Come on people, have some pride in burying the dead.
I watch this just to hear this guy sing the second song. Awesome!
I think its an honorable tribute and Celebration of life 💞

I know in some cases in St. Louis funeral happens at night burial In the morning that's how my great grand mothers funeral was
Dude in the casket must of been a baller
2:15 it was at this moment he knew he fucked up!
This looks like a higher level mason because they are in a hall. You can tell. That's a high ranking mason maybe 33 degree
THIS was a DAMNshame
this is nothing but a masonic funeral, a high class name for an occult.
Who is gonna tell Old School that he should probably retire? Lol. I just don't wanna see that casket fall.
It's all funny to them but if it had fell and the body rolled out they would be running. but I don't blame them I would too. Totally would be like, "Alright, put Uncle Leroy back in the casket and no more showing off". Maybe he was a humorous person that wanted a funny send off.
lmfao
Fetalheart1 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
This was very respectful and tasteful. I'd be afraid that somebody would mess up and drop my loved one though. Accidents happen. However, it was very regal.
I want to be carried out like this ! Glide to my casket, in all white while singing acapella.
Bravo fellas!!!! Not what I would want at my funeral but pretty cool. I was scared to death they were going to drop that casket!!!
These souls are not a show they were human beings. 💔
I...can't...
Oh my God that was so nerve wrecking, I was so afraid but I guess they are trained
i love how the pallbearers are singing.
This is so beautiful and touching ❤❤. I love how they honor their love one
this is actually the staff of harris funeral home feature on funeral boss show, this was at the funeral convention in new orleans, check their show out "funeral boss"

OMG..... the talent and honor that these men show.
that was legit, I don't know what these other people are talking about.
That had me so nervous. I would have hated for the coffin to fall.lol... they did a good job coordinating.
Sir. William G. McCray
Wow This Was Done With Such GRACE and RESPECT...
they are from a funeral home in Dallas Texas called golden gate...they came to do this a one of our church members funeral a few months ago....we was just looking like " bro. dyers probably mad they shaking him around that." lol
oh my goodness, this is a little nutty.
Awesome! I thought it was very "respectful" and "honoring" to the deceased. I would like to have my final walk to be like that...truly going home, praising God all the way!
the elite squads are actually wonderful
Now this is what U call a “home going celebration!” 🙌🏿🙏🏿🙌🏿🙏🏿
They scared the crap out of me when they had the casket on their shoulders and turned around.
It's no different than what you see in the funeral of a British Royal Personage.
Beautiful!
going out in style... lovely...
As a funeral director this seems very odd... but to each their own. Just hope they don't drop the person!
What the hell! Stop this crazy hilarious!
Amazing and beautiful!
My man missed the choreography heading toward the casket - but he found it again.
Yay!
every funeral I go to its the same song...
Wow...What a way to go!!
This is Harris funeral home , the inspiration of my future I always wanted to own a funeral home and, for those who do not know this called stepping and it is traditional especially for funerals in Louisiana......L.I.F.E#
Who ever called this shenanigans needs to take a second look.Well done ...
They had a reality show called Funeral Boss.
Wow that is some talent!
It's The Temptations circa late '60's. They got those white suits and Motown moves.
+cuppajoe1 the five heartbeats minus one
I only saw when they came in and up to the casket, however. I think the part where they left would be nerve racking if a person was in it.
How many people see the Angels coming to get you? That look like them? Black and beautiful?
What is the name of the song being sung
A funeral is a solemn moment to remember and pay respect to the person who has passed on, not some circus event! I find it distasteful and out of order.
Ain't ever seen this before! They doin some tricks! lol
what did they use to record this a toaster lol
Put me in the ground already. Please and thank you.....
@3:21 That guy at the end almost lost his balance. LOL
LML! I just saw it!
+mrtheoneandonly 83 He was the one singing. Guess he can't do two things at a time.
Taylor Anstrom look again! The soloist is at the front of the auditorium, next to the casket.
Bring on the dancing girls and Jugglers!
wow.I have never seen this in the states.
Looks like New Orleans to me. It is smooth. Being danced home.
This was at the Black Funeral Directors Conference in New Orleans, an illustration by Harris Funeral Home. The casket didnt have any remains in it!
You know, I was wondering that when they did the flip and carried the coffin on their shoulders. But, I figured, they were strong.
I hope none of the older mourners didn't pass away during these shenanigans. This kind of theatrics is for the living to showcase their limited talents,

I wonder if the deceased was in a frat or involved in drill teams.
It's crazy but it looks like old fraternity members
