    Loved watching both feather tutorials, your brush control is amazing. I did a pencil sketch of a feather today and had a mini revelation (or alternatively, a "durrr" moment). Such a simple and obvious thing really, but I've been drawing my curves in the same direction as you, however I am right handed, you simply pointed out that it may be easier to draw the curve in the opposite direction if you are right handed... suddenly I can draw neat curves and even get the narrow quill evenly spaced simply by reversing the curve! Thank you, it's sometimes the smallest, simplest things that make a difference and, in my opinion, what makes you a great teacher. Thanks for all your lovely tutorials and I shall now attempt more with my right handed curves!

    Hi. First time viewer. Love this video. I found a woodpecker feather in the yard and wondered how to paint the white dots. You shared such a great and easy method. I'm a beginner and feel your tutorials are very achievable.Thanks!!

    Yes, a beautiful woodpecker feather. My favorite part was that perfect second stroke you did, while leaving that perfect white sliver in the center!

    I love your work. I love feathers as well & I've tried my hand at them. I don't always have patience with the process or myself. Working on it though. Thank you for the inspiration 🙂

    No doubt I've watched nearly every watercolor feather painting tutorial here on YT, but I enjoyed and learned more from watching your painting techniques. Simply lovely! I also have bird feeders in my yard and enjoy the little treasures they leave behind for me to collect. I noticed you have some Blue Tit birds at your feeder, the blue and yellow ones. Would it be possible for you to paint them in watercolor, as well? Thank you for your awesome work, I have subscribed!

  • @maegpye
    @maegpye Před 3 lety +2

    I'd already given you a thumbs up but when you got all excited about making the white spots on the woodpecker feather, I wished I could give you another! :-) In the Midwest US, that feather would likely have come from a Downy Woodpecker (Dryobates pubescens) wing (not tail). Hairy Woodpeckers are similar but larger and their wing feathers are shaped a little differently than you've shaped yours. It doesn't look like you have Downies in the UK. Perhaps yours is from a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dryobates minor
    )? I love feathers and you have (as always) a nice tutorial on these.
    Have you ever been tempted to paint lichen? I've been ruminating on how I might be able to depict lichen using different types of medium.
