    With the work on the station module now well underway its time to tackle the section at the very front of this part of the layout. Using a mixture of my old standard techniques and trying out some new ideas too, I set out too create an embankment that falls away from the platform.
    Meanwhile, more detail is added to the platforms with some fantastic 3D printed items from Model Railway Scenes and the name of the station and the entire layout is revealed! It's a jam packed episode so what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

      Thanks Adam! It really does feel like these two modules have come together very quickly after being bare for so long. Yes the modern touches are nice, just reminds the viewer that it is a modern day layout rather than period steam. Thanks for watching 😃

    I know it's a bit late now, but I think you should add a chimney to the waiting room. There's a brick wall at the back, which suggests there being a fireplace, and that would need a chimney.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Před měsícem +1

      There is a chimney that comes with the building kit and it’s on the list of things to add in the future. At the time I was very much up against a deadline to get the layout presentable for an exhibition but I have plenty of time in the years to come to add additional detail across the entire layout Thanks for watching 👍

    What a fabulous railway station, well done Rick, it was wonderful how you put it all together, you have a good eye for detail, at times l had to remind myself it is a model station and not real. The flower boxes under the railway sign was a nice touch and gives the viewers the feeling of their staff's pride in the station. Without doubt one of the nicest stations l have seen built on the Internet. Well Done!

    Wow what a difference, it's really looking great now! the grass going down really starts to make the scene look complete, but there are some superb details getting added. I would recommend giving the station building roof a paint to closer match a slate colour, similar to your waiting shelter on the other platform. I certainly felt it looked better on Outhwaite, being the same Skaledale model. I like the name too.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Před rokem

      Thanks! Yeah the roofs of all the buildings need some weathering to be honest. They're far too consistent in colour at the moment and the effect you got on Outhwaite was great! Thanks for watching 😃

    Looking mighty fine, That Model Railway Guy. Sorry to have missed the live stream...health issues. Dry wall sections are a bit of a disappointment, no doubt, but the static grass and shrubbery can disguise some of the weak spots. Such an iconic bit of scenery for our U.K. railways, still the walls look the part. You're doing a great job here.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy

  • @modelrailfan37
    @modelrailfan37 Před rokem

    Great work Joe! Your layout is really coming along now, and the two main modules basically look finished now! I do remember though that the one curved module that goes with the tunnel board was bear though, are you still planning on putting scenery on it, or will it become part of the fiddle yard or something (ie: add some curved sidings so that you can fit a few extra locos without occupying the sidings for the coaches)? Great work as always, and I’m looking forward to seeing what extra details you add to this board!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Před rokem +1

      There's still a little bit of work to do on these modules first but after that the plan going forwards is to build two new modules. That will extend the run a bit and also make operating from the inside more comfortable during the exhibition.
      I'd then like to rebuild the two large corner modules to the new updated curved design. If I get that far the plan is to do the scenics on those two modules and the existing curve module all at the same time.
      If I run out of time though I could just use the currently non-scenic curve module as an entrance to the fiddle yard for the time being. It's not a priority at the moment which is why it's being left to last.
      There's actually a diagram at the start of Ep16 which shows the general plan. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Před rokem

      I did consider that and it's something I would still like to do. The only issue is that, because I've compressed the station, there are points right at the end of each platform which complicates things slightly. Thanks for watching 😃

    No need to make more support for the plasterboard. You could have filled up the gaps with crumbled newspaper. In fact, you could have used only crumbled newspaper instead of the supports. You'll get an irregular landscape at the same time.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  Před rokem

      Using only newspaper for a portable layout like this isn’t a good idea. In my experience it’s just not strong enough to cope with the layout constantly moving around.
      You’re right in that I could have filled the gaps with newspaper but personally I don’t like the effect it gives as it always looks a bit too much like crumbled newspaper to my eyes 😆 Thanks for watching 👍

      It would still be quite expensive to do that I think and probably wouldn't be seen much. In my opinion, brown paint is all that's needed for the large open areas with mud/dirt being used towards the edges where it's more visible as the grass thins out. Thanks for watching 😃
