      Thank you! Maybe start by wearing a beret, they are low profile and most people are used to seeing them that it won’t feel as scary.
      I adore Austria, we hope to move there soon actually. 🤞🏻

    I’m hoping one day I just suck it up and buy the darn hat! I just get so insecure and I feel like I will look silly even though I think it looks great but I still don’t wanna be made fun of for it😅

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 4 lety +1

      I understand that feeling. The first step is to buy the hat. Maybe wear it around the house for a little while, keep looking at yourself in the mirror to get used to seeing yourself in the hat. It takes some time for the confidence to build, but it will come. Good luck!

    One of the problems I've had with wanting to wear vintage hats is that I worry that I'm wearing them wrong...that they're meant to be worn a certain way that someone back in the day would have just known.... :/

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 3 lety +5

      I would't worry too much about that unless you're wearing the hat on your foot :)
      But seriously, hats simply go on your head, that's it. I have photos of my grandmother wearing the same hat but it's positioned differently in each photo. There are some hats that sit a certain way on the head, but those are pretty easy to figure out and just can't really be worn another way.
      Like I said in the video, I like to put the hat on and start moving it around to see what suits me best. The hat will tell you where it wants to sit.

    This is an awesome video! Any suggestions for where to find ideas for when the hat sits forward on the forehead?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před rokem

      I tend to do a half up/half down hairstyle and if the hat doesn't have a lot going on in the back you can really do some nice styles in the back. A low chignon, gibson roll, or even just wear an embellished hairnet.

    Could.you possibly do a video with a square handkerchief headcover? I'm a Christian and I cover my hair in public (not a requirement in the church but my personal choice and comfort) but I'm having a hard time finding a "vintage" style that also works with that.

    What a great video! I love the styles and ideas. I realize I'm late to the party, as it were, but do you ever use hat pins?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes I do! But only if they are easily inserted, I don't want to make unnecessary holes. I prefer to use the hair combs inside, they are much more secure for me.

    Can you suggest some places to find these hats? Do you buy them vintage or new? I’m particularly interested in the Juliet style! Thanks for the tips!

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 2 lety +1

      I buy most of my hats on Etsy or eBay. If you check out my other video showing my hats, I have a few of my favorite shops that buy from.

  • @lucyba
    @lucyba Před 3 lety +1

    I love your videos! I do love vintage hats; my problem is l have a HUGE head (measured around at 23” 😬) and most vintage hats don’t fit me unless it’s kinda flat and l can pin it on. Have you any suggestions for us big-head gals? Also, has anyone told you that you favor Esther Williams?♥️♥️

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 3 lety +1

      I also have a large head (22") plus I have a lot of hair which can make things even more difficult. There are a lot of hat styles that don't have sizes and don't require you wear it fully down on the head. Tilt hats are perfect for this and anything that's made to sit just on the crown works great.

  • @Not_hereanymore
    @Not_hereanymore Před 3 lety +1

    I have a rhombus almost square face and I find that no hats suit my face type, where to start?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 3 lety +2

      That's a good question, and I'll admit that I don't really have an answer. But I would suggest trying to tilt the hat a bit, the asymmetry can help.

  • @mistystricklin3450

    Is there a specific type of side comb that works best?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 3 lety +1

      My personal favorite hair combs are the Grip Tuth combs. They hold incredibly well. Here's a link to them amzn.to/2T0y55b

  • @christinajackson2662
    @christinajackson2662 Před 3 lety +1

    I feel like this is a dumb question, but how do they stay on your head? Especially the platter hats, they look like they’d fall off if I moved too fast. Are hat pins appropriate for these kinds of vintage hats?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před 3 lety +2

      Not a dumb question at all. With some hats, a hat pin works just fine, but I like to sew in a hair comb to the inside brim of the hat so I can secure it to my hair. And if I need extra strength I can just place a Bobby pin across the hair comb and it’s not going to budge.
      I hope that makes sense.

  • @JM-tz9ej

    But how to secure them, hatpins in the right length are not buyable nowadays?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Před rokem +1

      Hatpins are available in many places. Flea markets, vintage/antique stores, Etsy, eBay....
