  • The Dom is located between Randa and Saas-Fee in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. With a height of 4,545 m (14,911 ft), it is the seventh highest summit in the Alps, overall. The Dom is the main summit of the Mischabel group (German: Mischabelhörner), which is the highest massif lying entirely in Switzerland. August 2022.

    Hello everyone
I congratulate you on climbing the cathedral. Thank you for the wonderful film from my Valais homeland. There are unforgettable memories.
    I wish you good tours.
    With alpine greetings

is this a route that somewhat beginners can take as well? I have crampons and stuff but what is neccessary for a climb like this?

The tour to the Dom is very long (even if you sleep again at the Dom Hut on the descent). I would not recommend this tour to beginners. Generally, a mountain guide is advisable. The difficulties lie in possible crevasses (depending on conditions) and the rock wall to the Festijoch (which is fragile and accidents happen almost every year).

Even though it's August, the glaciers look really dry and the mountains lacking snow :(

Indeed, 2-3 weeks after the climb, the Matterhorn was "closed" due to rock fall.
