  • Easy and portable accessory to quickly split firewood.
We live at the lake and enjoy camping and hunting and find the log splitter very useful. The manual log splitter is unique as it fits inside the hitch receiver of your truck or quad. It can also be kept in one location by mounting it to a building or even a sturdy post. Please watch the video and visit my website for more details mylogsplitter.m...

I am going to do a video on this.
I have a long series of videos called Reinventing The Wheels: Both Jerry And The Log Splitters.
I have a playlist on splitting by hand, with the main goal of both of them being to reinvent, rethink, and build a simple, effective, solid, inexpensive, heritage (Tools that last for generations without breaking) splitter.
This is the thing I have been designing in my head. You nailed it!!!
I will promote the heck out of this.
I would love to get my hands on one some day to do advertising videos on it!!!
I will promote it big time to the big channels; Canadian Prepper, Wranglerstar, e.t.c!!!
    Brilliantly Simple!!!

weld a round bar vertically above the axe head. Then you can add weight lifting weights to give you some downward force. I think your pivot point should be lower as well. Good luck.

Unless a splitting block is used, you are right, bc he is fighting the angle, and hitting the blocks at an angle.

If that spring ever fails (and it will!) you're going to end up with a face full of shrapnel.

You need an old tire to hold several pieces in place and then a Lazy Susan on the bottom that his foot powered to move them around

Fairly decent facsimile of the common Eastern European/Russian splitter ... but design slightly misses the point. .
It should be easily operable with just one hand .... and it would be if it had a much heavier head.
Also, the action would be improved by reducing the 'unsprung' mass of that unnecessarily long travel spring by mounting a short travel unit on inner end of the nodding beam and further down the leg.

It works. Easy to set up.
Height can be changed by various hitch height and use of splitting block of any height.

Looks pretty amazing. Always looking for an easier way to split my firewood. How well does it work on larger diameter logs? Steve in 29

      @bradfink6975  Před 7 lety +1

Hey Steve, the biggest log that I've split was 12" diameter by 15" in height. It wasn't too difficult to split that size log and I haven't had any larger logs on hand to try. Just in case you are interested, I also have a couple of hunting accessories and pictures are available to view on my web page - http:/mylogsplitter.my-free.website.
