Honestly avoided other Switch unboxing videos but when i saw you post this I was all over it! You rock!

ZGaming well you can have 1 green joycons and another pink. Nintendo is halve way there.
I had a similar experience with the 2DS. It was like windows- 5 gigs of programming; 4.4 gigs for collecting meta data, advertising, profiling, spyware, security, systems analysis, user feedback, in-game purchases, multi player online options, personalisation, and artificial intelligence... 500 megs for memory, and 100 dedicated to play control, graphics and game content. That's progress!
Now I've been enticed to pull out and listen to my Chrono Cross OST. But never mind that - excellent vid.
I'm watching this video one year after it got released. Since I'm a fan of Game Dave I watched it even if this review is one year old. It's embarrassing to admit but as Dave held the HDMI cable in his hands I found out that Nintendo had put an HDMI cable into the package and it took me one year and a few months, and this video, to realize that there was still an HDMI cable in this box.
Thanks Dave for making this video. I was so hyped and happy to play the Switch that I didn't looked into the box after getting the Switch, dock, charger and Joy Cons out.
I will look into EVERY corner in the future before I start using the main device that was in the box.

I love your Mega Man art in the background. Where did you get that MM6 banner from? As far as your review goes, I thought you did a great job. I've been hearing about the left JoyyCon desync issues. Hope yours is working. I got Zelda on the Wii U, and probably won't pick up a Switch until Mario comes out. I dunno, for some reason, I'm just not excited for this system yet. Maybe cause Zelda is also out on Wii U? Oh, and I'm still bummed about the lack of Dpad in portable mode. It just feels like sacrilege to have a Nintendo system that lacks a proper Dpad. Hopefully Nintendo comes out with a left JoyCon that has one, and ditches the C-buttons. I couldn't imagine playing Shovel Knight in portable mode with the C-buttons or the sticks. I need a proper Dad for platforms like that.
@8:45 You can adjust your Share button on the PS4 to take screenshots with one press of the button, and hold the button down to get the menu. It's just setup by default to be the menu first. So you can use it the same as the Switch version if you prefer that.

I like the Switch, personally. I think it’s a great and versatile console with a lot of potential, even if it doesn’t have too many features at the moment. When I got my Switch, it felt really good to have something that just felt so new, especially since I actually missed out on getting the Wii U (I don’t know if it’ll be worth getting one at this point). I know a lot of people had complaints about the Joycons being too small, but since my hands are fairly small, this wasn’t too much of an issue for me but I will say that they do feel a bit cheap. I feel like the Switch is gonna be a console that’ll focus more on strictly emphasizing games for the system rather than the features on the console, at least for now.
What happens when you plug the Switch to a PC? Or try to mount the SD card?
Dave: get fast rmx and meet up with people in a public place. We had a makeshift tournament at my local coffee shop yesterday... and it was POPPING. People couldn't stop playing. Once more local coop games come out (hell, you can get metal slug, waka waka 7, and kof 97 if you jump through hoops), this thing will explode.

Just a FYI: You can adjust the PS4 Share Buttons functionality. You can make it so that a tap = a Screenshot, or start recording and HOLDING it brings up the menu.

Kinda the same situation for me with the Switch. Not as exciting as other Nintendo consoles at launch, but the hardware build quality is top notch and Zelda really is magic to play in bed or on the go. Definitely lots of design flaws when it comes to how to play it. Those joycons with the straps are not all that great to play on. I think the grip is perfectly suitable for Zelda however, but fast paced games like Splatoon pretty much require a Pro controller.
Hopefully the games make this system shine!

You didn't follow Johnny's advice he gives when opening boxes Dave. You get your eye next to the box right in line with the blade to make a clean cut.

As a person with adult sized hands, who only plays games while at home: I am very unimpressed by Nintendo this time around.
But at least they didn't screw over Wii-U too harshly with Zelda. I'll just wait until they make another home console.
Joshua Pearce I've got bigger hands than normal and everything about the switch is comfortable tbh there's a lot of shock at first at how tiny it is and how small the joycons are buy they work damn well

I realized why they had to change to the GameCube placement of the sticks.
If it was like Playstation, the right Joycon's control stick would be on the right-hand side of the controller, with the buttons on the left.

After about 24 hours with the Switch, I'm mostly pretty impressed. I do worry about battery life, since it seems pretty short, but of course Zelda is pretty much a worst case scenario in that regard. I do think that the ergonomics of the system are a little off as well, and its screen is small enough that I am questioning the idea of people gathering around the system for multiplayer games. Ultimately though, it's by far the best portable console that has ever been released, and that's the main draw for me.

My favorite part was when Game Dave farted when he reached for the games lol. I also thought he was going to mention about his fart when he said,"WOO!!!" but instead he acted like it never happened lol. Anyways, I agree with most of his complaints but I still like my Nintendo Switch.

I think that the Switch has an unbelievable amount of promise, but as all consoles for the past few generations have shown, there is a severe lack of Quality of Life features and content. I picked mine up day one and I am absolutely loving the games for it and I really hope this does well. It very well may be my most played console besides my PS4 while my One just gathers dust in the corner.

Why does Nintendo so often sell out of their stuff? I thought about getting a Wii back in the day, sold out. Recently an NES classic...sold out. Now the Switch...sold out. I never go back to buy the stuff. They lose my compulsive purchases. Which works out for me I guess. I may still snag a switch though...maybe.

I think we'll see many hardware re-reviews come december. There's a lot missing on the Switch, I think Nintendo just wanted to get something out there to ease their investors. We'll see minor updates in hardware and major software updates in the future. Can't wait until the switch is at full power!

"Got some boxes, no music..." -- I say, GOOD! Menus should be menus. I find this trend of "menu music" to be kind of obnoxious, and literally the FIRST thing I did on every modern system I own is go into the settings and disable the system music. When all I'm doing is selecting what I'm going to play or watch, I do NOT need musical accompaniment! And the easier and more straightforward the menus are, the better.
In my opinion, the pinnacle of video game system menus is the XMB from the PS3 and PSP. Intuitive, quick, easy, and simple; everything a menu should be. Every other system menu I've worked with has been OK (except for the Vita's, which is IMHO pretty terrible), but the XMB has stood head and shoulders above them all, and I wish Sony had just stuck with it rather than trying to reinvent the wheel on the PS4 and Vita.
the reason the legend of zelda breath of the wild will be a system seller for the switch is that few people own the Wii u only 13.87 million units were sold world wide nobody is going to remember the Wii u in 10 years but i bet people are going to remember the switch for many years to come
Retro rebel People will still remember the WiiU, like the Dreamcast, or the GameCube
I'm loving what I see with the Switch. Idk how the joycons will be for me but I'm used to cramped and unconventional controls being a huge handheld player for years.
Still the joycons are gonna be reserved for handheld play and player 2 while I use the pro controller for at home play. playing VC I need a traditional dpad- Castlevania 3 and Ninja Gaiden need a good dpad lol.
I feel like the fixed the lack of portability that the WII U gamepad had but i almost feel like they downgraded controls and again almost a full generation behind in graphics. I hope the Switch surprises me when i get one.

Thank you for being honest. There's way too many people acting like its the greatest thing ever. It might be great in the future when more games and os tweaks come out, but right now it's nothing special at all

ever play GameCube? the C stick was at the bottom, plus when playing smash bros on Wii u is too weird when you have to go up from the buttons to hit the stick, I prefer Xbox and GameCube analog layout
