"It's pretty durable. it's pretty durable so far..😂" spoken like a man who's done alot of diy painting👊
paint job turned out nice and a great upgrade with the new jonny yacht!
Nice job. Thinking of doing my bass boat soon. Very helpful.
Wow guys I want it! Thanks so much for the idea and material list!
NIce job .I did one years a ago with homemade stencils and rattle can and it held up extremely well however I like what you guys did .
Really good patern. Nice work.
You guys did a great job... I'm going to do my G3 1652 in spring time
I have the same boat, did you you se Kem400 and did it bond well? The factory paint on these boats are terrible.
That turned out pretty sweet! That Havoc Timber looks sic! I painted my boat brown , just to be different from drap olive. I might do what you did, but with raptor liner for durability Thanks!
Strong work, Gentlemen.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build. Assuming rod storage will be built on? Anchor system? And what will it be powered with?
He has a 25hp Yamaha 4stroke and a motor guide trolling motor so far. Anchor system is something he wanted too. Trying to figure out the best option.
Great job
I’m in auburn maine and I need my job boat painted. How much to camp up my 16 ft Jon boat tracker?
Any issues with overspray when spraying the stencil paint?
Is there a paint code if you get from the store?
Love the video the boat looks great! What’s your suspension set up on your Tacoma? Do you ever hit the bump stops when loaded up for your big trips?
How much paint did he use to do the base layer?
I like this better than the grass pattern
Is the Aluma hawk slip resistant?
Did you do a clear coat over top of the paint after the stencil? Also did you use a primer under the base layer?
No and no
If I had a new boat could I just paint over the original paint with the stencil kit? Would I need to prep the original paint?
Should be ok
He mentions he would go a different route instead of the Aluma Hawk as a base if he were to do it again? What base would he put down instead?
Not sure, but he loves the durability now. Used it all season and no regrets.
How’d you deal with the paint build up on the stencil? Mine always end up dripping a messy
Did about half the boat then cleaned it off or let it dry
Do you remember what psi your gun was set to when shooting? I have the same setup and cut it like y’all did, but my spray isn’t near as thick as yours. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
40ish. If it’s not coming out very much.. you have to thin it more.
@@mainetroutwhisperer yeah I was spraying at 40. I thinned 1.5 ozl Xylene to 15 oz Paint in my hopper to get to 10%. I'll go a little heavier on my second coat. Thanks!
Looks great! What’s the paint code for the major brown and the flat black?
Click the link in the description and it will take you to their website. It should tell you
@@mainetroutwhisperer thanks
Did you use the standard size stencils or the X-Large ? Thanks
We got the standard size
What would you recommend for the base coat instead of the alumahawk if you were going to spray it
A lot of people use that same kem400 paint that they used with the stencils
schweet!
What size air compressor did you use with the paint gun?
It was pretty small. Not sure how many gallon, but small enough to wheel around.
Duralux marine coating paint they sell at Lowe’s or homedepot
Has the same similar paint and it’s 60 bucks a galon same thing as alumahawk and cheaper
It has great texture as well
Looks great how much alumahawk would you suggest just for the sides and insides on a 1648 Lowe John ? 2 coats Bottom is coated already so I’m covered
Probably a gallon
Thanks I looked on Amazon and a gallon was 12,000 plus say what ? I don’t think so lol
That was a gallon price quarts is like 280. I’m in Florida and can roll it with no humidity. Any tips ? Narrow roller better or ?
Would you recommend that aluma hawk green paint?
Yes! It’s durable stuff
well done. I did my jon boat with rattle cans
I’m about to do this to my new Lowe. How has the paint held up over time since y’all did it? Would you still recommend the paint you used? Thanks
It’s been great!
@@mainetroutwhisperer awesome thanks!
So for the stencils could you do it with 2 half gallons or would you need a gallon of black and brown?
Half is fine
Cool thanks and the color for the alumahawk paint base is the Jon boat green or different?
@@quinnhutchins5237 yup!
What size boat is that and aprox. how much do you figure your supplies cost .I have the air gun tools
I just saw the size of the boat so ignore that question.
Would you do your base in the alumahawk again ? od something differently
Are they the standard size or the x-large ones?
The stencils? Standard I believe
did you put any clearcoat over your camo paint?
Nope. Its kind of an enamel and doesn’t need it
How much paint did you go through?
We didn’t even use a full hopper in the gun.
Update video on the durability?
I’ll do one!
Can’t believe he covered his boat in Major Brown
Did you consider clearing over ? Wondering how well this holds up
I did consider clear coating the boat but I could not find a clear coat that had a true Matte finish. Whereas my main focus for this boat is duck hunting it is important to make sure the boat doesn't have a shiny finish. If you can find a good Matte clear coat then I would send it. More layers never hurt.
One gallon of alumahawk will work ?
I have a 17 ft boat
@@santinonavarro4853 that’s what we used
How’s it holding up?
Amazing
What kind of paint did he roll on ?
Alumahawk

Great job
