  • What temperature should a room be? What temperature should a house be? Heating your home with Hometree.
This video looks at the ideal temperature for rooms in your house.
Welcome to Hometree, home of the stress-free boiler installation. Find out more at www.hometree.com
Perhaps you’ve been told that it’s cheaper to have your heating on all the time or you are just looking to find the best way to heat your home efficiently without wasting money.
Maybe you are looking for the best temperature to set your home, to ensure you get a good night’s sleep or the best temperature for a child
or a sleeping baby to be comfortable.
You could be looking to be more environmentally friendly and waste less energy.
Either way, you have come to the right place, as Hometree Heating Experts are on hand.
How warm should my house be?
The most efficient temperature for homes, even during the Winter, is a steady 18 degrees or 19 degrees Celsius.
Simply reducing your thermostat or smart thermostat settings by as little as 1 degree Celsius could save you money in the long-run.
    ROOM TEMPERATURE *MYTH BUSTING*
Turning your thermostat all the way up will not heat your home better or faster and this method, along with leaving the heating on all day, will waste a lot of energy, as well as increasing the amount you spend on energy bills.
Leaving your heating on low all day is also a waste of energy and money.
Hometree Gas Safe engineers know that having the right heating controls will allow you to keep your home at a comfortable temperature without wasting fuel or heat.
They recommend that you get either a programmable or smart thermostat installed in your home so that you can set regular heating schedules.
In your central heating system, your controls should ideally include a boiler thermostat, a timer or programmer, a room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs).
Smart thermostats allow you to manage your heating controls remotely from your computer, tablet or smartphone which is why Hometree provides customers with a free smart thermostat with every boiler installation.
Smart thermostats sophisticated features like learning your heating routine and using your location to automatically turn your heating on or off when you leave or arrive near your home.
Smart thermostats help keep your home at an ambient temperature, which is the best way to keep your home warm without wasting money.
These thermostats set different temperatures at different times in the day and at night, unlike a standard thermostat which sets one temperature and time for the boiler to be on or off.
For instance, a feature of a smart thermostat is that it will keep your home at a median temperature between two points - so the boiler is not working really hard to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.
You only need to use a little bit of gas to get from 14 to 18 degrees Celsius.
    ROOM TEMPERATURE *MYTH BUSTING*
It uses more gas to heat your home up from 2 degrees to 18 degrees than it does to keep the home at 14 degrees overnight and kick it up to 18 when you wake up.
With smart heating control systems, you can make changes remotely if your plans change - for example, if you find yourself working late
or decide on a spontaneous weekend away, you can make sure your hot water and heating aren't wasting your money.
Boiler Plus was a change to building regulations in April 2018 which means that all newly installed combi or combination boilers must have smart controls featuring automation and optimisation functions.
This is why Hometree recommends boilers that are A-rated for efficiency and provides a free smart thermostat will every installation.
At Hometree, we know that a warm home is too important for a broken boiler to get in the way.

I am from Sweden, and I generally like to keep my house at temperatures around +25°C, or +77°F.
    I find that temperature very pleasant;
it allows me to wear light clothes inside without freezing at all.

Hardly anyone seems to understand that huge numbers of elderly people only understand fahrenheit properly, not celcius, and it is the elderly largely at risk.

The average temperature in apartments in winter: Italy - 17 degrees, Germany - 17 degrees, France - 17 degrees, the Netherlands - 16 degrees, Great Britain - 15 degrees, Japan - 10 degrees.
The Russians are shocked by these figures. According to Russian sanitary standards, the temperature in the apartment should be at least 18-20 degrees Celsius. According to Russian legislation, for each hour of deviation in air temperature in a residential building (in total for the billing period), the monthly fee is reduced by 0.15% of the fee determined based on the readings of metering devices for each degree of temperature deviation. Thus, at a temperature of + 17 ° C, payment per month should be reduced by about 87%, and at + 16 ° C, payment is not required at all. If in Russia they used to heat the same way as in Holland, Great Britain and Japan, then the Russians would not have to pay for heating.
In the above countries, the temperature does not meet sanitary standards!

@@mikec8529 The people around me tell me that i am crazy because i like too low temperatures . İn winter they heat the apartment to 25 degrees celcius . İ cant stand that heat and cool my room to arround 18-20 . Most people say that my room is insanely cold . But if my family could stand it , i would problably cool it to 15. İ only prefer high temperatures in summer because summers here are insanely hot. And i want my body to get used to the heat. Thats why 22-25 is my summer room temperature.

What a waste of time watching this ad (yes, this is an ad, there is no answer to the question put in the video, no explanation whatsoever, this is just an ad for Hometree smart thermostats installation).
The video claim to do "myth busting", but it is completely false: They quote something that people say, e.g. "It uses more gas to warm up from 2C to 18C than it does to keep the room at 14C overnight and 18C when you wake up". They provide NO EXPLANATION WHATSOEVER and directly goes onto doing advertisement for smart thermostat, again without confirming or denying the quote, nor providing a single explanation or bit of knowledge.

Who keeps the house at 2" c? Building operator at work said it's better to keep temp close to room temp 18 " c either lower or higher. In an old house or not well insulated or drafty the furnace uses more gas to ramp up to room temp if you keep the temp low when you are away.
