    I love the idea of giving tips to new players for games you love, to help them get the most out of the game. Specially with a game like this which seems to be more about the narrative than the challenge you overcome, it's good to have a leg up.
    I wonder if this is something that publishers should be doing more of.
    But thanks for doing a great job of it!

      So pleased you like it 😀 Yeh we thought we might include this more often in our videos which talk about game play, we don't like to put a rating number on games as everyone likes different things, and there are plenty that do that out there. But we thought this might be a fun extra to include. We often make mistakes so plenty to learn from!! 🤣🤣🤣

      @@BoxedMeeples We have! Once. My wife and I played through one campaign last summer. It was so good. Like you, we found it really immersive, engaging and enjoyable. We have wanted to get back to it for a second run through (we think the game will easily support 3 or 4 without too many repeats). However, the space and time commitment have prevented us from doing so yet. We don't have a gaming only table. So we had to eat on trays while the game was going on. :)
      We hope to have space for a (small) separate gaming table soon. Sleeping Gods would likely be back on our play list then.

      @@WendyGa Yes totally understand that. We are lucky that we could put it inside our coffee table and leave it out without disturbing the day to day of the house too much. We have made trays from some IKEA frames by adding foam and material which we use for sofa games. We used those for our crew members and command tokens etc then the map, boat, key words and collected items were all in the coffee table. So that all worked quite well for us. Hope you manage to get a small table soon! 😀

    Thank you for an honest and insightful review. I have played through more than one campaign solo, and I really want to teach it to others and experience the cooperative aspect of it. Perhaps the hardest reason to bring it to the table, especially for a group, is its length, but the captivating story has kept me wanting more. Even the multiple endings, for me, are less important than the adventures. It's about the journey, not the destination. Sleeping Gods is a totally engaging experience that is my new favorite.

    • @BoxedMeeples
      @BoxedMeeples  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes we really enjoyed exploring about and the characters and challenges along the way. We were only saying the other day that we would love to dive back in and have another adventure. Have you found the length of each of your solo games of it to be similar?
      Yes for a group I think you would have to set aside several sessions to complete it, which can be difficult at times

    • @rosbrughj
      @rosbrughj Před 11 měsíci

      Well, my very first play-through I mis-read the rules, and after the final boss battle, which I lost, rather than resetting and battling again, I reset and started over. Basically I played two campaigns back to back, with the second one having all the level ups from the first. It made the second go around much easier, to be sure, but I wondered why the game had to be so long. Joke on me, it didn't.
      Otherwise, my other campaign experiences were similar in length. Perhaps the lessons I learned from the first campaign (one could say two campaigns) better prepared me to defeat the final boss the next time.@@BoxedMeeples

      It's hard to show too much of the game without spoilers. Other reviews of this game avoid showing much of anything, so I'm glad that there are a few shots of the characters and map from time to time.

      @@BoxedMeeples my final score was all over the place (I was mildly incoherent as I stayed up far too late to finish). But I ended with 8 totems and the frog ending (if you know what I mean). I’m pretty sure I messed up the rules on exploring some of the towns though… i was thinking I could use one explore action and do everything I could do in a town at once, but I noticed late last night that at least some of the actions say “return to ship” instead of prompting to go back to the beginning of the town story? So I might have gotten some extra actions in accidentally?
