Dr Feelgood OGWT March 1975. 3 Songs And Bob Harris!!! This item is ULTRA RARE. Sorry about the quality but this is just about as good as i can get it. Click on Feelgood38 for more Dr Feelgood Items.
Whoever posted this video- Thank-you. I haven't seen the full footage since the night it was first aired, and it changed my life then, for better or worse. This band opened my eyes and ears to real music.
Tragically, I am old enough to have been there. Raw & choppy rock'n'roll frontiersmen. Working class mentalism with a little bit of Whispering Bob on the side. I feel homesick...
Oh man, I remember me and my brothers always snuck downstairs to watch OGWT, we LOVED Wilko and Dr Feelgood. Thanks for bringing back the memories with this...
too right mate, I saw them down in london in 91 when Lee was still about. Went into big new music store at roudabout something square, anyway strolling through and heard a live band tuning up downstairs and there they were, stood at the front and wondered why everybody upstairs was still fucking shopping. ACE
Without doubt the greatest blues/r&b band this country ever produced. Electrifying, faw and fearsome. Just reading 'Rock N Rock Gentleman' at the moment by Zoë Howe, about Lee Brilleaux. Would highly recommend it to any Feelgoods fan.
This might have been the footage I saw when I decided I had to see the Feelgoods, they toured with Snafu and Chilli willy and the red hot peppers ( I think ) . I got head butted playing football when they came to play the Cambridge Corn Exchange, Wilco and Lee both gave me a weird look, they walked through the audience to get to the stage, they werent very big back then, never forget that night, they were amazing and as the bands rotated who headlined, it was their turn, my mates Dad wasnt happy as he turned up to pick us up but I wasnt going anywhere till I saw the Feelgoods, amazing !!
Missed them at the end of the 70s in Dublin...saw The Count Bishops in small venues twice though. I just love rhythm n blues. Both bands were magnificent.
just the way Lee introduces 'She Does It Right' fuck me he was one cool dude. i'm thinking of giving up on the rest of my music collection. like mtopper66 says, this stuff is REAL
Just as my nascent musical tastes were budding, THIS was broadcast. Down By The Jetty was purchased a week or so later. Good job CD's don't wear out like the vinyl did.
That's some highly caffeinated R&B - these boys must have polished off about 5 cups of Nescafe each (with Wilko doubling that). Being a Yank, I'm not overly familiar with Pub bands, but I'm growing to appreciate their style thanks to CZcams and all you fans posting these videos out there. That "Roxette" tune is s a real tough one to get out of your mind!
Less coffee than, in the mod and post-mod tradition, amphetamine sulphate, I would think Ron. Used to see them every week when they had a residency at the Tally Ho in North Finchley around this time. I would have been 19 then and they were electric. They were the best pub band and 'She Does It Right' was their best number in my opinion. Knew a girl from Canvey who went out with Lee Brilleaux (the singer) for a short while. She was inspired to take up the harmonica and front her own band some years later, though she didn't make it big.
@feelgood38 Utterly brilliant set here from our very best rock show. I asked the BBC why they don't repeat all the OGWT shows from the golden years of the 70s, but they just said copyright restrictions etc.. I think they are afraid the standard of music has dropped over the past couple of decades, and if the youth of today actually see class rock bands they would drift towards it. Very few of the artists that appear on Jools Holland's show would have made it on the OGWT..not enough talent!
It is the Nick Lowe song which he wrote for them. His cut is good, theirs is superb. Nick wrote it with them in mind, as a songwriter for hire. I think it fits the bill. It is just such a tough sounding song.
Pure rock 'n' roll gold. The Feelgoods are finally getting their due with the release of the film and wider exposure in the media -about time. Hail Dr. Feelgood!!
Show,, Show,, Show,, thanks Lee,,, thanks Band..I want to cry ... that time can never come back, God be with Lee... Marcos ( The Hobbies Band ) BRAZIL THANKS WILKO...
@feelgood38 A fantasic rockumentary :-) Re-kindled my love of the boys from Canvey Island as I 've wandered off on other musical journeys.. Bummer when that happens with credits. Take pride in your contribution, fantastic film G :-)
Shit, this is good! Its never gonna be as good as seeing the feelgood live - I saw them in Southam in Warwickshire a couple of years back goddam it was awesome get them touring or presenting a guitar blues and rock show! - this is so cool and cutting like The Hives, Vines et al.. but when you see them live its crowd-management blues ahoy.. just awesome...
This clip of keep it outta sight is a real find. It is a Nick Lowe song to order. "Make us something hard" was probably the request, drug dealing was the reply. Lowe has mentioned how their version made his demo seem very pale. Just a great osong and a great version in my view. In case you don't know Lowe was once their road manager.
I've been listening and watching The Feelgoods for all these years and Wilko is STILL the only guitarist who makes me shout "How the fuck does he DO that??!!" Thanks for posting!
The first song is "Keep It Out Of Sight", which is from their first album "Down By The Jetty". I've never heard Nick Lowe's version of the song, but on Dr. Feelgood's website the songwriting credit goes to Wilko Johnson. Either way, I think it would have been a big hit in the U.S. if Stevie Ray Vaughn had covered it.
Wilko was the epitome of Geek Chic. Watching him play makes me want to get out my Telecaster and bang on it without a pick. And his haircut became 21st Century lez haute coiffure.
Great - thanks for posting this. Love Wilko's playing ... some Guitarists knock it, but just try playing as tight as he does without losing the feeling.
A typical, edgy performance by Lee Brilleaux and Wilko machine-gunning away. Excellent ! looking forward to seeing Wilko perform at the Bulldog Bash this weekend
Thanks for all the comments regarding this video. Hope you have all seen Oil City Confidential, if not i believe it is on BBCi Player till May 2nd. Out on DVD on June 14th It really is a great film. I had a brief bit of input into the film but didnt get the onscreen credit i was promised. Maybe I will on the DVD. Anyway with a little bit of luck, time and the wind blowing in the right direction, something new will be coming to this channel soon.

Oil City Confidential was brilliant - Wilko was brilliant (what a great bloke) - i see him a couple of years back at the Blackheath Halls - am off to see Dr Feelgood at the same place in a couple of weeks - i know its a different line up but Steve Walwyn is great - Old father time keeps tickin` but the worlds a better place with the feelgoods whatever the line up.
My favorite band, also. When Wilko left the heart was torn out of it for me. Lee was brilliant/Wilko is briliant, but together they were without equal. I have a question: there is a clip in Oil City Confidential (from the rock festival Au Theatre Antique D'Orange 75) where Wilko is playing, I'm a man...does anyone know if the whole 'Feelgood' set was recorded, and if it is available? Would be great to have.
Everything you have listed is easy to find in most record shops or on line. how about buying the bands music if you love it so much Jimmy? That way maybe the guys that made the sound you "love" so much might see a few quid. Do you work for nothing? I'm sure Wilko and co. love having "fans" like you parisites.
Anyone have Dr.Feelgood Mp3 albums with Wilko Johnson? I am looking for albums Down by the Jetty,Sneakin' Suspicion,Stupidity,Be Seeing You. I can´t find this albums, grrr....I love this music!

@ivancarling I disagree. Although he managed to sound a BIT like Mick, by his own admission his attempt to copy his style failed and he ended up with his own style. Mick picked strings with his his fingers a lot whereas Wilko basically strums. Wilko was more manic in his stage style too. I saw them on stage together at Dingwalls once...Wilko is superb, but Mick was just the absolute best.
Wilko had a unique style and a unique presence. One of the true greats.
THE BIG FIGURE.
Whoever posted this video-
Thank-you. I haven't seen the full footage since the night it was first aired, and it changed my life then, for better or worse. This band opened my eyes and ears to real music.
Never stop rocking Wilko
RIP Wilco Johnson 💔🎸🤟
Tragically, I am old enough to have been there. Raw & choppy rock'n'roll frontiersmen. Working class mentalism with a little bit of Whispering Bob on the side. I feel homesick...

Best of the Best
What a great band
FANTASTIC!!
Goodbye Wilko. Thank you for the music.
Oh man, I remember me and my brothers always snuck downstairs to watch OGWT, we LOVED Wilko and Dr Feelgood. Thanks for bringing back the memories with this...

Agreed!

Wonderful!
Thank you so very much for uploading this, very very special to see it, all of it. Thank you.
Aside from Lee as a singer and frontman... he could sure play a blues harp
I love Wilko's and John B Sparks advanced move routine. Stunningly good!
The first band I ever heard live. F***ing brilliant!
Wilko is the absolute bollocks.Superb
Interesting coincidence that Wilko's future collaborator Roger Daltrey was on the same show.
Wilko!!!!
Lee - one of the best frontmen in rock and roll and fucking ace harmonica player
Whole band is great- RIP to WILKO
They were actually a pub band. Despite getting big, they STILL played small gigs, in pubs.
I used to watch them in London at the Kensington pub. They played most Sunday’s
thank you

Sweet dreams Wilko

Yes! Oh yes! Thanks for doing my request, cheers.

Wilko was my guitar hero. I got to meet him about twenty years ago and was so awestruck I couldn't even speak apart from to say: "Alright, mate?"

I've never heard Nick Lowe's version of the song, but on Dr. Feelgood's website the songwriting credit goes to Wilko Johnson.
