Hi Doctor P, I did oral sex to a woman and started having throat discomfort.After a month, I did throat swab and got tested positive for trichomonas vagina on my throat. I took 7 days metronidazole and after three weeks was still having throat discomfort and tested positive again.I took tinidazole 2g three days ago,but still having burning and irritation sensation on my throat..how long does it takes for the symptoms to gradually decrease?Im really stressed about this and I would be grateful for ur advice.Thanks

Minor stomach pain , but no serious side effects. Jus avoid certain foods and alcohol. It also leaves a nasty taste in your mouth . @@ktrice

Hi! I hope that your shingles journey is short lived and tolerable. Metronidazole can be given vaginally bypassing direct systemic influence as it remains local in the area.
There are no overt symptoms of trichomoniasis. Sometimes, premenopausal females may note a slight change in discharge but not much else.
You should be fine sexually after treatment.
Can I use the vaginal gel instead of the pills, as I am on chemo and don’t tolerate this antibiotic at all?
I’m 69 , no sex for years and have no idea how I could get this - my doctor is as surprised as I am. No swimming pools, shared towels and toilets out of the home.

hi doctor p, when i first taking metronadizole and tinidazole by vaginal tablet, on the 4th day my period started and i stopped using tablets and my period took 4-5 days, after that i continued taking my vaginal tablets, my most of symptoms are stopped but the thing is i still having a little bit of not that green but greeny yellowish discharge specially in the morning when i first taking pee. does stopped using tablets during period can effect treatment? what do you think doc? and do i need to take metronadizole again by (not vaginal)tablets? i need answer🙏🏻

My Dr. Gave me the pill form for treatment twice as of 3 days ago!
I did take the medication as instructed
the first time but notice 2 weeks later I was still having a small amount of brownish discharge.
I was definitely concerned, so I did get rechecked to make sure it wasn't just a abnormal menstrual ,I am going through perimenopause.
Unfortunately,my test came back with trichomoniasis again. 😞

What are the side effects of these meds? What are the odds of this coming back? What are the symptoms?
Once treated and completely cured, the only way for trichomoniasis to return is by having sexual contact with someone who has the infection.
Trichomoniasis does not cause symptoms. Testing is the best way to know if you have it or not.
Common side effects: GI upset, headache, rash, yeast infection
Also being treated multiple times? At what point can the medicine don't work before the body is immune to medicine? If you can answer this ? What about plain yogurt my friend said it worked for her
This infection is caused by sexual contact. If you get it multiple times, that means your partner is infected and needs treatment before further sexual activity or your treatment was not effective (i.e. you didn't finish meds, treatment, not enough, etc)
Your body doesn't easily become immune to this medicine if you get treatment multiple times.
Yogurt has not been shown to kill the parasite that causes this infection. Yogurt may help with other things, but not this.

I have had a resistant strand. I was not sexually active for almost 3 years. It can lay dormant but I have known 5 girls without sexual activity that got it also. I wish they did more studies. I've been treated by metrodinozale. Several times. Like 6 in the last 2 yrs since finding out. I can't get rid of it. They finally gave me 500mgs for twice 14 days. And I'm a lesbian. It sucks. I read tinidozale has a 1% failure and metrodonazle (flagyl) has 3-5% of failure. This is just my story.:)
Are you saying a single dose of metronidazole can treat a male with Trich?
Yes, a 2g dose of Metronidazole is sufficient to treat a male. If the infection recurs, he can get a 7 day treatment.

Yes, you may. It should not be taken while breastfeeding
