Hi Robin, Great little project for organization. Never would have thought of it. I like the mitered corner. Looks like a coaster..lol. Thx for sharing.
Thanks so much!
What a neat idea! Thanks! 👍😃
Glad you like it!
Thanks Robin, I love this project.
You are so welcome!
What a wonderful idea..thank you so much. I’ll be making some asap
I love how fast they are to create.
Great idea!
Thanks!
Watching your videos while recuperating from two back-to-back trips. Before the first trip, I made a new zipper pouch/wallet. I got out my batting scraps then but didn't use them. They are still on my sewing table so this will be my next project. I might make mine a rectangle instead of a square depending on the scrap batting shape. 😊
When I make more mine will be rectangular also. That way they can be folded in half if the person using It wants to. Keeps the threads in one spot if in a to go travel bag.
Great idea! Can't wait to make them! Pittsburgh, PA
Have fun!
great idea!!!!! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Nice little gift you could slip into a Birthday/Xmas/Thank you card 🥰
Absolutely!! It’s thin and lightweight. Great idea.
Love this. Definitely going to make. Thank you.
Have fun!
This is a great idea. Thank-you, No need to fuss though, treat the corners as binding. It's bulky only because you folded it twice.
Thanks! I was thinking about binding as I was doing It. I have a few viewers that are a bit more particular. They prefer smooth and neat, symmetrical etc. It’s nice to have options. If I were to make a dozen? Quick and simple folded edges all of the way 😉
Love these! I seem to forget to grab (or even find) something when I need it. Having several of these around would be great! I always have batting scraps around about that size, too!
Glad you like them! I need multiples too. I never have what I need or want when I need or want It. I try to keep a notions pouch in every project bag with the essentials. One of these thread mats would easily fit in with my scissors etc.
Nice addition to sewing table. Thanks Robin! ❤
Thanks!
I'll be making one for each if the ladies in my quilt group!
They’re fun little gifts.
Thank you for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
Thanks !
This is a great idea! I made a design board this size for my embroidery projects.. but they have cardboard in it. I'm going to make a couple of these for my sewing machine area. Thanks Robin!!
I never thought I’d use a design board as much as I do. I’ll definitely be making more. I also want to play with this idea a bit more too. Have fun!!
Great idea it is the next thing I will sew😊
Have fun!
What a good idea Robin! Thank you💕
Thanks for watching!
Robin - great idea! I like that it’s easily portable and as a cross stitcher, that’s super useful.
Also - The first time I heard the term “orts” was from a Scottish lady with a CS channel on YT. She mentioned her “orts jar”. All this time I thought orts must be a Scottish term 🤷🏼♀️ Imagine the huge epiphany I had hearing you explain “old ratty threads”!
Thank you for today’s lessons!
😁🧵🪡
It took me a bit to figure out what a ort was too. I thought I was hearing It wrong. It’s a fun term. I thought the same thing. The flat thread catcher is small and lightweight. Fold It or lay It flat and It can tuck in anywhere. Even inside a book. As I was writing I thought It might be good for beads too. If you’re just adding a few to a cross stitch project then you can put on the thread catcher mat so they don’t roll away.
Using it for beads is another great use! And you mentioned in video adding a needle minder … it really does turn into a full function spot while cross stitching. I really like all these ideas.
Thanks. When I sit down to do a bit of handwork I find I have a lot of little bits all around me. It’s nice to consolidate them in one place. I’ve been wanting to make one of those couch stations with a pincushion on the top and the two “flaps” that go over the arm of the couch. A nice little station with everything I need in one spot. Until then this little thread mat will have to do. 🪡✂️
I actually have one of your triangular ones that you made so long ago. Mine of course is in purple fabric with a purple button! But what a good idea for these! It’s kind of like a V8 moment- Where they slap themselves in the head because they could’ve had a V-8 to drink instead of soda I guess. Those were a long time ago commercials. Great idea though thank you so much! And now I know how to finish the edges around my little Crosstitch Christmas ornaments where the back fabric is the border! 😊
Smart. It would work well for your cross stitch ornaments. I do remember those commercials. They don’t feel that long ago but time is tricky.
Love the idea❤
Thank you! 😊
Robin! I recently returned from a road trip where I had my hexie project in a Yazzii bag. This will work to keep in my bag for the small threads I cut off!!! Fantastic idea!!!!!! Thank you!❤
Perfect for a Yazzie bag. They’re so thin they’ll fit most anywhere.
This is a wonderful idea! Thank you.
Glad you like it!
Just what I am needing. I've kept meaning to make one and kept putting it off. Today is the day! Thank you Robin.
You’re very welcome. Anything to lessen the number of loose threads on the floor 😉
@@rsislandcrafts I got two of them made and used the larger one at my sewing machine and it did make a difference at keeping them together - it was a great pile of trimming and cutting. Thank you Robin.
You’re very welcome. That pile of thread shows how much you accomplished that day ✂️✂️✂️
❤❤ Great easy idea, especially for my retreats. Put one in my cross stitch/embroidery bag too. I can use for my needles, pins, & needle minder (which I end to get 😂). I have some colored felt I got at dollar store I could use too. 😊😊 Thanks Robin 😊😊
I thought of you when I was making them. 😉
Love this idea to put by my chair for all the threads from any handwork. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Great idea 😊
Thank you! 😊
Great project for something I never saw before. I have a small container next to the sewing machine but those small thread snippets escape. This is a fast easy project fir my sister who does embroidery and crocheting in her recliner. Great closeups of sewing tips.
They do escape! Many days I look on the floor or my shirt and I wonder when did I see with green thread or fabric? 🤣. It would be very nice for a bit of handwork in the recliner. Sometimes we just want/need a little extra tuck-in to go along with a gift we’ve made or purchased.
This is so cute and useful!
Thanks!
Neat! My preference is the double stitched "frame" look also! Thank you for your video!
Thanks for watching!
You could use a flannel print and a solid backing making it look like a photo
That would be fun
This is such a cute and simple idea!!!! Better than walking around with all of those threads “attached” to us! Wondering what you do with your threads….I also keep mine in a jar..wasn’t sure why, though!
Thanks! I saw a fun video a few years back showing what to do with the thread bits. I have the basic idea but I need to find the video again among my many lists here on CZcams for a refresher. Otherwise later this year we’ll just do my favorite technique and make It up as we go 😎
@rsislandcrafts I just saw a video on how to make thread balls for a garland for the Christmas tree. If you are interested I could put the link or name or here or on my community page.
That sounds like fun. Please add the link here. I might have to approve It but that way anyone else who sees this can go check It out too. Thanks!
