There was tournament held on the board in Indian prior to this and MVL played some exceptional chess and won the rapid section beating all of the indian upcoming prodigies i already knew that he was back in form the AI cup comfirmed it and MVL was magnificent, i only hope he keeps on his current level and make Magnus sweats and become even better

@@toziassmitt nepo didn't lose, it was drawn because of the 50 move limit rule when no peice is captured in that duration. Its extremely hard to mate with just one minute, the situation was queen vs rook. Its mate in 25 with all best moves, so yes extremely hard to pull off with no time.
Wow. MVL is back. He came to play and play he did. Has anyone ever won two matches against Magnus in one day? What an incredible performance. Kudos to Levy for the usual incredible recap.
Seems magnus beat himself playing such major blunders and MVL is such an amazing player to be able to capitalize on said blunders. Definitely some amazing chess.

Maxime's chess was impressive. Damn... It also helps that Magnus took a few wrong decisions, but still. MVL was in a very sharp form and grabbed every chance he was given. Beautiful.

If anyone’s wondering why white doesn’t take the knight at 18:45, I assume it’s because black would play Qd5, forking the bishop and checkmate
But white then plays bishop f3 attacking the queen, if queen takes bishop, bishop takes bishop and white is up a piece.

It's just trade of a knight with bishop. After the checkmate threat is blocked by the white's white square bishop, the black queen eats white's dark square bishop by tempo... checking white's king. The trade would eventually benefits black, as white's atk gets weaken.

I’m so used to Levy explaining every single tactic that I was genuinely confused when he didn’t 😅 I straight up just stared at the screen for like 2-3 mins until I realized that Bxc5 is met with Qd5, forking the bishop and mate on g2, with no way to defend both because the bishop on e2 blocks the Queen from getting to f2. In other words, it’s just letting the opponent activate the Queen for free while also giving up a powerfully active bishop for a relatively weak knight.
I personally jump with joy every time that monstrous chess titan of braggadocio and arrogance loses.
