Finally, here is a tutor who explains WHICH levers should be up and which down for 'dummy' amateur players. All other tutors explained everything other than this core 🙃

hey welcome to my world! everything I do is detailed so there is no guessing involved. unfortunately learning arabic music is based on copying someone and a lengthy process of trail and error. I suffered from that myself which is why I am passionate about creating systems that anyone can follow without guessing involved:) glad you found this helpful :)

Hi Maya, could you please define what the "T" stands for on the tuning chart that you showed ? I can see a T next to the Sol for example. Do you have 8 levers on your Sol ? I happen to have 10.. I put 5 down and 5 up.. I'm not sure it's the way to do it..

What do the "s" and "t" mean in the diagram showing the Turkish instrument, between the lever numbers and the note names? Thanks.

I'm building a mini 12 course Kanun without 'urab. Maybe next build I'll import levers from Turkey.

ah in which case you will have to do it the old way and tune each octave to a different maqam. its a lot of work so if you can, I would recommend adding levers:)
