I must confess, I had from the beginning wanted to have a cascade however the perfect miscalculation gave me the perfect place for it. You see, I used the 90 $$ bills and was left with this open space, hahaha plenty of room for the flowers to come down. So much for my calculating, but, as in lots of our crafts, it is an error that leads to a nice result. And, any time Momma smiles, that is a nice result. TFW
You are so kind, I did have a good time making this, but the funniest part was Mom, she liked it so much she didn't want to mess it up by taking the money off. We had to encourage her to just pretend it was a pinata and just go for it ;) TFW!!!
I was happy with it once it was finished. I started with an origami search, but couldn't find anything I wanted and then I found the cake and I was off and running. Best of all it made her smile, I couldn't resist putting her picture on the slide show....shhh don't tell her she is in a movie ;) TFW
Tilly that is INCREDIBLE!!!! Such an amazing gift, I love this idea. So unique, I've never seen anything like this before. Although here in Northern Ireland our lowest bill is a £5 so this cake could end up pretty expensive if I was doing a 90th birthday cake, teehee. Your Mummy looked like she had a wonderful birthday, but then how could she not with having such a beautiful and thoughtful daughter like you. Lee xx
Well Momma would have had a bigger smile on her face, I just went to 'convert my money' and at that rate 90 BPS (we don't have the sign for Pounds on our keyboard, I never realized that before) in $$'s would be $770.40. hahaha She would have needed a much richer family. We are a silly and full of fun group, however a tad cash poor ;) She was so surprised and had a wonderful time. There were only 3 of us missing, school and work kept them away, but children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, we were 26 strong and I know Daddy was smiling down on us for making Momma happy. You always have such kind words and always give me a giggle, thank you for watching and many hugs!!!!
Thank you so much, Mother had a hard time taking it apart, she didn't want to spoil it, hahaha We finally got the little great-grandchildren help her take the money off, so she could get herself a little treat ;)
Thank you Lisa. Yep, you said it :) The true blessing was first seeing the look of shy delight at walking in and seeing all the family there and the second was the beautiful happy smile at seeing her gift. It gave me a little shiver to know the family was counting on me, but I should have know, Mother would love anything that came from our heart. ...TFW hugs my friend
Oh, Stephie, It was fun to make, but that last picture of my Momma smiling, that made it super. Thank you for always encouraging and lifting me up and always giving me a giggle....hugs
Oh, Linda, she was so surprised, she was told she was going out to dinner with my baby sis and her hubby, to celebrate their B-days, hers being the 8th and my brother in law's was the 4th, but when she got to the room and the whole family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were all there, she was very close to tears till we brought out the fuzzy blinking tiara and that made her laugh. It was a wonderful evening!!!
+Jalen Key Thank you, think you will have fun making it. Just make it easy on yourself and get the Styrofoam rings for your base. I was too silly trying to use up my, used ribbon spools....hahaha I know yours will be beautiful. Mother still talks about hers.
Oh Tilly this is just so adorable and such a clever idea, the gift for someone who has everything! I'm guessing that there were 90 $1 bills rolled up on there? You made it look so pretty and delicate with the flowers and the pearls, clever you Tilly :) Love and Hugs Jan xxx
Yes it was 90 $1.00 bills, that is why the flowers run down the side, cause that is where the money ended, hahahaha My baby sis and I knew what we wanted to give her, but I just couldn't decide how to give it to her, I went to some of the origami videos and just none would do, then I saw a cake and I was off to the races!! She was so surprised and happy it was a wonderful evening!!!
+ChickenEFrog _ Could be done either way but because we didn't want the layers any taller than about three inches, I rolled the bills from side to side ;)
DEL1CATEONE $90 one for each year ;) Started at the bottom, so the bills were all the way around, then the empty space can be filled with a cascade of flowers so you can't really see where the bills stop!! Thank you for watching!!
I love this!! How did you secure the money in the rolled form? I think she must have been over the moon with glee! Your a sweet daughter!! I agree with the cake form easier in styrofoam.
Our oldest daughter is a dog groomer and she makes little bows for her girl dogs using little bitty rubber bands. I have used the dickens out of them. They come in little bags of a bazillion ;) For my granddaughters wedding we used them to fasten the netting around the candy almonds for each guest and tied a little bow so you couldn't see and with the $'s I just put the ribbon over the bands. I will never be without them again, they are just too useful. TFW hugs
Angelina Liotti Goodness, it is easy and fast the longest time spent is rolling all the bills and holding by slipping tiny clear rubber bands on each one. (The kind kids used to use on their braces and that dog groomers use to attach the little bows on dogs ;) Cut your Styrofoam the sizes you want, stack and glue, add your rolled bills (I just used tape so they would stand up and stay together, then covered my tape with purple and gold ribbon. Used corrugated paper glued to the top layer, for the 90 to show up then glued the flowers to the top and down the sides. I didn't have enough bills to completely go around all three layers, so I spaced the empty spaces down the side, which gave me plenty of space to cascade and glue the flowers down. A day and a half or 2 days, really, good luck!!
Jasmine Galvin What an honor to be asked. Am afraid I can no longer do this work. In 2 short years I have lost the use of both legs and my right arm. Pretty much left with some card making and painting. I would encourage you to give it a try it so easy to put together and such a fun thing to do. Thank you for your interest.
hahaha, she did love it, so much so we had to kind of help her, a month after, to take the money off so she could buy herself a little something. Thank you for taking a peek....hugs
Hi Brenda, I did make them for friends and family, but very sorry to say I am quickly losing muscles in my hands and can do very little crafting. Thank you for watching and give it a try they are fun to make.

+ChickenEFrog _ Could be done either way but because we didn't want the layers any taller than about three inches, I rolled the bills from side to side ;)
Believe I missed it, how much did you say... How many dollar bills cover it, thnx

Beautiful cake, how long did it take to make ? My boyfriend's birthday is a few weeks away, wanted to know if it'll take too long to start

What is the amount of money you need to make one?
Jasmine Galvin What an honor to be asked. Am afraid I can no longer do this work. In 2 short years I have lost the use of both legs and my right arm. Pretty much left with some card making and painting. I would encourage you to give it a try it so easy to put together and such a fun thing to do. Thank you for your interest.
