@@robertbyrd1704I can relate I use to go to this night club in Los Angeles called "Catch One". I don't know who the d.j. was but he was the best one I have ever heard and I have been to clubs here and abroad. He played this by Chaka and I almost jumped through the roof. Sometimes to tease us he would turn up the bass which made the floor vibrate. I was no more good after that. If I could go back in time I would just to relive moments at the Catch. It was other worldly.

So happy to see that the performance on Drag Race sparked some interest in this song. It did well back in 84 but not as good as I hoped at the time. Especially being the second single from the I Feel For You album which had done very well for Chaka. This song is one of my favs and brings back so many good times with my friends.

@@cwise0603 yeah but nothing like when she was much younger. I've seen live twice when was in her 60's once in her 40's and twice in her 20's. Let me tell you there was a whole big difference when she was 20's 40's then in her 60's. I understand why because with all that singing comes a lot of wear and tear on the vocal chords. She even had a surgery on her throat and doctors told her she could never sing again but she's still here. The background singers do a lot of her lyrics now when her voice gets tired. Some days she can do good but nothing like when she was 40's and below.

jd4963: The whole "I Feel For You" album is a state-of-the-art in early 80's music industry's tech! And fortunately Chaka always craved for that in all her albums (also with Rufus). Hence why she was a bit unsatisfied with her former label in late 90's. At 1 point she wanted to work with several innovative producers and the label set back...

warrior1975ify these were the best years of my life because I was still living with my parents and they let my best friend move in with us. She and I would go cruising around in my Camaro cranking up the music. We would go to concerts and the ocean together and the music was so much better back then. Life was just so much easier and I didn’t have all the health issues that I do now. My mom and dad were still alive and now I miss them like crazy. Thank you so much for your reply 🥀

I have always loved this song since it came out when I was 13. I also love how this video ends with Chaka the understudy taking over this role permanently after her successful debut, instead of the "it was all a dream, she never got her chance for real" gut punch that these types of videos seem to like to do.
