Crazy how this woman isn’t bigger than names like rounds rousey. She is by far the most technical female fighter any one will ever see. And she deserves a shit ton of credit
Being American is very helpful in terms of your fanbase often, homegrown fighters are usually the most popular in the UFC

Yes, Valentina vs Nunez may have been close but to newer fans and casuals they won't know that it was a close fight. They will just see two losses to her. The losses don't look good on paper to the average viewer.

Shevchenko is a rare phenomena. Every time she's on a card, I know I'm witnessing greatness.
The problem is, women generally suck at athletics and hand-eye coordination. So, when you find one that's leagues above the rest in those two skills. Then, that woman will likely be reigning. For men, power can make up the lack of skill. Women don't have that.
And typically with men, none of them are TOO below average in the skills department. So, it creates for a harder duration of reigning. Which just proves why Jon Jones is such a beast.
But, Valentina's the real deal! Leagues better than the other women.

Women haven't been as involved as men in combat sports until recently, so it wasn't long ago where you had pretty novice martial artists competing even at the professional stage for women. It still can get sloppy, but Shevchenko is a true, elite martial artist. Definitely one of my favorite fighters currently.

Shevchenko's work is amazing! I've followed her from her muay thai days and was surprised when she switched to MMA and then the UFC. The first fight she loss to Nunes, but the second fight she clearly won. She is the baddest woman on the planet!
The thing that differentiates her in comparison to Nunes is that she doesnt take anyone for granted and gives that fighter the respect they deserve before absolutely taking their soul.

I've been following her since she was trying to reach the top ... always humble, always smiling, she shares a lot of content about her community, travels a lot, shoots a lot ... guys she does a lot of things and in the meantime she improved in mma like no other, so much that she seems unreachable on a technical and speed level. amazing woman and amazing professional fighter. definitely in my top 5

Valentina Shevchenko is arguably the most well balanced utilized fighter in women mma. Grappling, wrestling, takedown, striking, counter, defense, movement, submission, variety of kicks, IQ and different stances.

When i was a kid i used to watch her on a peruvian reality TV show , she was just a Muay Thai fighter representing Peru. Now I watch her on the biggest stage of the world. Its crazy how just in a few year she became the best at everything in the famale divisions,her striking, the pressure and even the ground game that she master quickly. What a well-rounded fighter!
Tbh you see a lot of guys throw some of the same moves like the spinning elbow/backfist and miss or barely land but it seems when she throws them she has an amazingly high accuracy and hit %. She also pulls off some of the fastest transitions I have ever seen on the ground. One of my favorite fighters male or female based solely on her almost military tactician level of precision, technique and expertise. Amazing human.

You can't compare women to men. The men are much more skilled and always have been. Don't compare the two, just enjoy what Valentina is doing.

I think it may partly have to do with height. She does hit lots of fast hits with accuracy. But speed on smaller limbs is easier.

I don't think the fact Nunes won in 2 weight classes counts for that much when featherweight doesn't even have a top 10.
Also Valentina only lost when fighting in a higher weight class and due to an illegal kick that should have been a DQ win.

IMO right now she is the most complete UFC fighter including males. He striking is extremely diverse, her grappeling really vicious in terms of damage, IQ of the charts and she just mixes everything perfectly.
