- Fun Fact: July 28, 1896, marks the day Miami officially became a city. Real estate development began to take off in the boom era of the 1920s in Miami and, more broadly, throughout Dade County. Anyone who could afford to buy a home or plot of land at the time rolled into South Florida to have a piece of this tropical paradise. Then, the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 wrecked much of the metropolitan area in Dade and Broward counties, and the frenzy of development slowed down substantially. This film from c.1925 captures the spirit of the land boom throughout South Florida.

Grandpa was born at Sw 6th Street & 12th Ave on Dec 16th, 1906. Mom grew up on tomato & strawberry farm in what is now the city of West Miami.
It would be so great for us kids ( I moved to Miami at age 13 in 1968) to have Dr P George narrate the locations shown. Thanks for the video I did enjoy it.
Dade County Baby! 😁
Wow, beyond wow and then wow infinity x's infinity! Love this and plz give us more!🥳
I have a small bag of film rolls, most are the size of a sand dollar and my dad wrote the years on some of them.
They are from the 1970s when my brother and I have a vague memories of us watching them as young kids on our projector screen in living room off S. Alhambra Cir💜🤗, and I still have that screen too.
I'm curious what's on them and long story short, would love to share with Wolfson if anything is relevant to share, if I can ever get them developed!
Great work yall do, thank you!
I ❤ The Gables!
At around 15 minutes into this film there are scenes taken in downtown Hollywood and then on Hollywood Beach. You may want to add that to the title.........
A true treasure... This is what CZcams is all about... Many thanks for uploading.. like being in a time machine!
Hey wolfsonarchives, if you ever come across it. Do you have any archival footage of westchester/Olympia heights/glenvar heights or bird road? I’ve been really interested to see what all these houses looked like when they were all new/uniform
What a unique account
Thank you for publishing this. I just made a video about Biscayne Boulevard and the scenes in this film are simply enlightening. Aladding Estates, isn't that Opa Locka?
That’s wat I was thinking 🧐
Alladin City was/is in Redland on Farm Life Road/162 Ave. North of 216
