Film was alright, but the credits sequence was fantastic. 😂
Cough cough game of thrones cough cough
@@redshirts4757 I was thinking more along the lines of The Crown.

Damn, sure it is..
and almost longer than the movie
That door was a real masterpiece.
One of the crew members actually built that themselves.

The coloring grading in this is so powerful! The change in tone between the scenes can be seriously felt when you guys go from warm orange to a dark, cold blue. It gave me chills without me even realizing it.
Dude...all of the feels over here. Super clean all around. I wanted more.
What's going on everybody Darious Britt here!
hello darious!!!
After all these years and finally we're here... Congrats Ryan and i hope this short gonna be a feature film.
Thanks so much! I hope so too. This is a big step toward that, so all fingers crossed.

@@filmriot Ryan 🙂 are you even working on it ?
Beautifully shot!
3:05 This moment is hands down one of the most organic and efficient background info explanations I have ever seen in a story. It's fast, yet emotional and nuanced. This is very good.
I thought it was genius and have never noticed anything like it. When you realise what's happened, you drop off a cliff face. 🤘🤘🤘
It was brilliant!
what are you talking about? we can’t even hear what he’s saying. the music is way too loud and it gets even louder as the voicemail continues, making it completely inaudible.
that is the most efficient background info you have ever seen in a story? emotional and nuanced?
...
@@directedbyadrien1 the point isn't to hear what he's saying. The message conveyed here is that she misses that dude. The music gets intense as she gets overwhelmed by her sadness. It's a great technique.
@@themadraseye it’s way too quick to convey that. there’s no context here. because he barely has time to say anything, she literally could be crying about anything else. in no clear way does it show that she missed the dude.
when in the Godfather, the dialogue of Solozzo and McCluskey fades out as the camera moves into Michael’s CU and the street sound design becomes more and more intense, we are now in Michael’s head, the sound design represents the clamorous decision he has to make and at this point, the dialogue of the other two is insignificant.
here, its the contrary. the voicemail is fundamental for us to care. at least, it needs to establish who is talking and what is he talking about and once it’s clear, you can lower the sound and up the music and have her cry because at that point, we can emotionally connect.
The scariest thing is that she's sleeping in pants and socks 👀🙄
😂
you cute😂
Her man ain't home that's why
You mean you don't do that when it's cold?
Must have been cold. Which is not scary at all, exept when there's a polar bear around.
Watching with headphones is way scarier
I watched 3 minutes without, then was like, this would be terrifying if i put headphones on -- Yes.
can confirm that amped up surround speakers do the same :D really well done sound design
Oh no, I am turning my sound down, I don't want to wake up my roommate if I poop my pants.
Should have incorporated this in the sound design, first time I heard this randomly I freaked the fuck out. czcams.com/video/ZqNpXJwgO8o/video.html
WOAAAHHHHHHHHHHH the sound design with my headphones blew me away
Steve Horne is an incredible talent. Such a joy to work with him on this.
I loved this. The suspense was perfect. The sound design was flawless. The cinematography was top notch. The acting and emotion were felt. I cannot wait to see the feature film that comes from this. Bravo to the whole crew. Be proud of yourselves.
The most professional production you've made to date and I do not say that lightly. Camera movement, sound design, coloring, lighting, editing, and Stephanie did great! I loved everything about it. Well done to all!
DAMN, it gave me chills! I really loved it... Congrats Ryan and everyone involved. It will be an awesome feature I can tell you that!!!

Great work (as always)! We are a film school located in the north west of México and we encourage our students to follow you because we think that you are the example as a filmmaker of the importance of a narrative more than a camera, For us would be a blast if you can accept an invitation to talk about your vision of the new platforms to deliver films. Have a great and congratulations to all the Film Riot team.

I loved this!!! ❤️
- Stephanie Bulter was really good!
- 6:54 was the, "Oh, shit!" moment.😱 I wish it didn't end, though. I appreciate ambiguity, but I wanted MORE!
- Sound design and music was on point! 👌 (Though, the sound effect at 7:20 was a bit cliché.)
- Production design was really interesting
- The moment where she looked through the door crack was suspenseful.
- Wow... You read this? I'm so proud of you. Love you bye." Always, Ryan. Always. 😂
I totally second all the affore. the sound and soundtrack was the best yet
"I appreciate ambiguity"? Well this whole story is full of it in more ways than one...
Watching you elevate over the years has been such a joy. Great concept and execution. SOOOO much work goes into making a short.
Man, this is just fantastic. I love how it isn't just a horror story but you created a character that felt so real with such a good story. I really love the scene where she's playing back the voicemail to hear John's voice, he finishes and someone says they're sorry, then she instinctively presses it twice again to get back to his voice. Like she's done it before. Just a really genius way to show that love/loss.

Welp, there goes a new pair of pants
Just finished the short. It is amazing. But I clicked on the time and that was a mistake. lolll THIS IS SCARY!
Omg.. this was too much for my morning :D
I mean.. what can i say... its great... you killed it
This is such a big change from everything that you've done so far. It feels not like a short, but like a snippet from a movie, like those which they release online. Congratulations! I wish you best of luck getting the feature made!
As a follower of Film Riot for many years, I can honestly say that Ryan has come a long way. Congratulations!
Wow, the cinematography, especially light and colours, were on a whole new level! Everything else like acting, sound etc was also splendid of course, but the images really were the thing I couldnt get enough of
Chase Smith is a light God.
The cinematography and quality is amazing! Great job!
Chase Smith is a total boss!
Watched it a few times now, the subtle camera moves and use of lighting, wow. Really impressed guys.
Everything is f*cking amazing
I have so much to learn from you guys. You do a great job of SHOWING through moments, not telling us through dialogue.
I liked: the cinematography, the lighting, the sound, the edition, the actress, the titles, the final credits
I didn't like it: the script.
The talent for a quality production has it, It shows that everyone who worked on the short film is very good at what they do, but please, work mooore on the script (google traductor)
"WHAT?!" that's exactly what I said when it faded to black. So she hears a knocking in the middle of the night and she immediately gets scared and assumes it's coming from behind that door? and what was that creature and what did it had to do with her dead husband?. Everything about this film is awesome (editing, cinematography, directing, acting, lighting, production design, you name it), but you know that Story is KING above anything else, and this needs a much better script. How many short films have I done? Zero, but at the end of the day, this is done for a general audience who likes good horror films (that hopefully make sense).
@@deleyton I did not make a short film either, but many times and tried to think of an idea for a short film and in general the first ideas have to be discarded because they are influenced by everything one has already seen. As you said, she gets scared without any context, and the ending is too typical.
Tottaly agree, the cinematography is TOP notch . superb grading. the actress is beautiful. but even she had hard time to believe her because the story is that she is scared panicked when nothing had happened(unrealistic) . the knocking comes to make for the title. OK. that door got jammed . and then she sees her dead husband, and hilariocity alert she actually has no problem and asks him "please stay" :)) . I couldn't believed when it ended they left us with 2 mins outro. WTF. Congrats to the Editing visual effects guys that Ryan payed to do that zombie.
Besides the cliche screenplay, I think the sound effects were also overpowering at times. A good horror film shouldn't rely on scary sound effects telling me "hey! this part is supposed to be scary! Boo!"
She changed the door. The antique door is cursed. The connection to her husband's death is not clear. And they come knocking when knocking is not necessary because they can get in. :)
Its like a free movie but it's better than 90% of the movies you pay for!
You're a real inspiration!
I love you forever.
@@filmriot you are my inspiration ❤ thank you film riot❤

Dude u pay for the internet
If this doesn't have studios begging you to take their money, I don't know what will.
Thank you! And thank you so much for watching it.
Not to be mean, but I feel like unless you have a pretty solid idea it's going to be insanely difficult to get noticed. Ryan here is trying to flex his skills - which he certainly has - but the time for "Lights Out" has passed. This short unfortunately feels like something I have already seen - Hill House, The Conjuring, Sinister, Insidious...
You know what horror movies made a bang recently? The VVitch, 17th century period horror set in rural New England. Peele's films, political satire under the dress of horror.
The movies are moving forward, but Ryan seems stuck in 2013, unfortunately. I wish him all the luck in the world, he surely will be able to come up with something truly original.
@@francisjirons I get what you're saying, but I disagree. LIghts out wasn't an insanely original either, but it had it's own fun idea which made many interested. Ryan has been working with studios and managers for a long time and they all responded to this particular idea. The age of short films turning into features (if that's what you meant) are just not over and there is no reason to think so.
@@audunystgaard I'm not saying the age of short films turning into features is over - it will never be. I'm saying THIS type of horror is dying out. Sandberg made his film in 2013: since then we've had Mama, the Conjuring, Sinister, Insidious and a million more. Heck, we've even had Hill House, which has already deconstructed the genre towards a more drama-oriented narration.
What I'm saying is... This feels a bit old. The "flawed person faces an allegory/symbol of his flaw in the form of a spooky presence", structured - as Blake Snyder would said - as a literal Monster in the House... I've just seen too many movies like that. If it were 2013 this would be a blast, but unfortunately it's 2019...
Yeah, Studios may be eager to still invest on this type of product... But the time when The Conjuring and Sinister were truly original has passed (they are already wonderful classics). What feels "original" now is The VVitch, Get Out, Us, It Follows... You see what I'm saying?
@@francisjirons I guess what you're saying is true to some extent, but I don't think a handful of films with similar sorts of themes will make that theme die out because there is a lot of stuff to explore around it. If Ryan's story has some original twists to it, which I'm confident it will have, I'm pretty sure it will still drag people to the cinema.
If this doesn’t get you that covered feature film then I don’t know what will. This was phenomenal! Congratulations Ryan and the team at Film Riot!
Wow!!!! You guys came a long way, and watching this makes me so happy for you and the crew! Phenomenal job on this short
I really enjoyed this, for the most part. The cinematography, the lighting, the sound, the music was all working for me.. It was stunning.. But the creature thing totally took me out of it.. Didn't look like it belonged in the scene (the final shot, specifically), and just felt too cheesy for the tone of the rest of the short.
I would agree, i feel like there was no build up for that creature. But anyway, congrats to film riot everything else was super amazing!😃
I feel like the answering machine was a bit cliche too but maybe that's just me....
I guess i kept in mind that this is supposed to be a proof of concept and I personally would hate to see the entire feature film condensed into a 7 minute short that tells all. I like the ambiguity for the fact that I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing the full feature one day💯
Disagree
Exactly
I am a huge fan of Film Riot. I’ve been learning a lot from you guys over the years and even the course I bought from Creative Live is so helpful a lot of times in my projects. I loved the cinematography and she is a great actress. Your work as a whole, aesthetically speaking, is beautiful. I’ve even watched the making of from another CZcamsr and the amount of people you had working on set is amazing. So there’s nothing but respect and love on this side.
However, and if I can be honest, from an avid movie goer’s perspective (albeit not a horror fan, I admit), the story just felt lacking. I was waiting for something else on top of that moment and then it ends. It felt more like the setup towards the continuation of this narrative.
So I may not be the most positive critic, but I felt that as a viewer, I had to be honest.
Having said that, I will absolutely continue watching and enjoying all the content you guys put out.
Looking forward to your next project!
This is a setup for a continuation of this narrative. He wants to make this into a feature.
I love Ryan and filmriot since like first episodes, loved his scifi concepts. And i was waiting for this as well, hearing about this great concept that could become a feature film.
I know what Ryan wants to do, like David F Sandberg his light out short was made into a feature, but that idea had somthing to it it was simple and innovative and original.
And Ryans film is perfect technicaly on every level, great cinematography, acting etc. BUT there is no IDEA, What is the concept ? What made him come alive, a door?, a creature from behind the door?, or maybe the house? has some powers, or maybe a wood from witch the door was made ? This could go basicaly anywhere in terms of plot. And rasing loved ones from the dead plot is far from original... The film was great however not a good concept for a feature film. Maybe theres more to it and maybe the full concet is awesome, but its not here in this short.
I wish i could hear Ryans Elevator Pitch for this ? - Couple buys a old strange house, boy dies. Girl puts up a strange old Door, that accidentaly closes, then boy comes alive, ghost comes out of a door...
Sory for poor english, not my native tongue.
PieMan4848 I didn’t attack absolutely anybody. Could be that I’m out of context. It could be that that intention wasn’t stated properly (do I absolutely have to watch every video Ryan makes to be an “insider”?). I even start out by complimenting everyone on their work. So I would think that you need to be open to the idea that everybody has different opinions on stuff, and that’s ok, so long as nobody’s disrespected, which I certainly didn’t do.
@@PieMan4848 It's not a good setup. What we know is that he can create something that has be already made. Nothing in this shotrt is new or original. If he wants to make he has to take risks.
@@abettencourtmusic i didn't find your opinion attacking anyone, thats why i replied, becouse i agree about the story. It's like my completly bias opinion as a viewer and as a filmmaker myself. I think PROXIMITY concept was Way better and had some secrecy to it and it could go bigger into a feature.
I've seen many horror movies, I never got scared. But this one got my heart pumping. Great job Film Riot!

This turned out really amazing! A mood piece like this is supposed to transport emotions, and it managed to make me feel so many things, sadness, anxiety, tension, ... I cannot find a single aspect that is not done extraordinarily! Acting, camera motion, lighting, music, editing, color, writing, all top notch. I can't wait to see where you are going!
The whole time I was like
"nonononononono Oh god pls no nono, NOOOOO"
Literally me. I want to know what the climax is on the full feature so bad right now.
This is my favorite genre as you can tell. I love the storyline, score, lighting and color grade. Great job as always guys and thank you for all the years of inspiration and knowledge you have shared with the community and myself. It is greatly appreciated.
Ryan, you guys inspire me. I can see shorts just like this one being picked up by Hollywood and adapted into full length movies. It’s most deserving of it! Thank you for continuing to inspire me to tell my own stories man!
I work in the film industry and with the help of Ryan's videos and tutorials I got there. My first big break ended up being Bond 25/No Time To Die. Literally been watching film riot for about 7 years. All of it has paid off. Thank you Ryan!
The Setup was nicely done but unfortunately the ending had so much more potential. Damn.
Joshua William I would have done something with the door.
The thing rolls under the door back to her side and she picks it up, walks back to the door and listens something hammers against the door and she calls the cops.
The cops manage to open the door to find... nothing in the closet. The cops leave and she steps inside to inspect the closet.
She finds nothing and the door closes behind her, locking her in the closet. Her phone is on the other side so she bangs against the door shouting for help. Nobody can hear her, no sound escapes her vocal cords.
After a few hours of sitting she sees a small dial on her side of the door and turns it. The light unter the door changes. Thinking someone is there she decides to knock on the door. She hears the floor creaking on the other side and she starts screaming to let her out but again nothing audible.
In frustration she bangs against the door and hears faintly on the other side her own voice quietly saying “i must be losing my mind.”
Now watch it again with my plot in the back of your head.
Yeah... whole build up on the door and what’s on the other side then just turns into normal same old same old “ghosts” in house...??
This is only a proof of concept for a possible feature film, so it’s not technically the end I don’t think. I think that’s just where they cut the script to keep the project manageable and leave people wanting more. Rather than getting a full on ending then a feature length film to follow up. That would be kinda weird
Kyle Braby You can say the same thing about inadvertently going back in time. We’ve seen it multiple times with films like “Interstellar.” At least the ghosts can let the writers play around with the key thing we’ve learned about the main character; her grief over losing John.
Eric Ellerbrock Yeahhhh.... needs to stand out more of you have hopes to make this a feature..
I’ve waited for this the whole day!
OK Thanks Productions it is where I’m from

Visually satisfying on all levels. The story succinctly presented, and the classic creepiness done just right. Bravo!
Ryan, in my opinion, this is your best work yet. I loved the cinematography and the set design. This one gave me the chills toward the end lol
Spoilers!
I don’t want to be negative but seriously the story here is so derivative, and as a short does not in anyway stand on its own. Plot: woman finds spooky door, spooky ghost husband, low rent conjuring monster appears. We have seen this a million times. All gloss and no substance, and the classic way to loud horror sound design. The same with ballistic, the plot is so bare that it makes it in no way intriguing or entertaining. We know you want to make features and you want to save your full ideas for that, but don’t give us a half baked short and act as though it stands on its own.
hehe ye favourite comment
I hope Ryan has more original ideas for a feature. i don't mind classic horror movies, haunted houses, etc etc but come on, i could see EXACTLY what would happen here even before she got locked out. the only thing i wasn't expecting was the dead husband, other than that i knew the door is haunted, monster will appear behind her and roll credits. and i was right!
ADCF Productions he talks a big talk about how story matters over gear, but his shorts consistently say the opposite. I think if he directed someone else’s script he could make something great, he’s just not that great of a writer.
@@BloodyAwesomeTV Yes i agree. Either he needs to watch more movies, or he needs to lay off the cliches. this thing with the monster behind the protagonist has been done sooo much! Also, why is the short so short?? the story has no room to breathe, everything happens too fast. And it would have been so cool if when she looked under the door she saw feet or a shadow walking slowly behind the door, how didn't he think of it? :C
ADCF Productions he also goes on about keeping things vague in his shorts to create mystery, but doesn’t seem to realize that keeping things to vague can also be interpreted as half baked and unfinished. Like keeping one aspect vague is okay, but once you start taking information out you’re no longer showing your audience anything remotely entertaining
Wow man. That was seriously the best work you have done so far. Everything about this was dead on. The look, the feel, the characters, the story. This sucked me in so fast. Just me back in the back doing a slow clap as I let it all sink in. Really, really well done.

That's awesome guys! I loved the "witching hour" moment! Congrats!
This is just truly horrifying, creepy, and amazing. This must be a feature!!
DUDE YES! I don't know what it is about your horror stuff but it scares the shit out of me! And that's coming from someone who doesn't get scared by these movies. And I really do believe that this is because your story telling is so unique. Like your whole technique, if you will, needs a whole breakdown that'll take a bit to think about but what it really boils down to is that you don't follow stereotypical horror flick tropes. Your direction and writing and overall camerawork really nails in deep that this isn't a typical horror short and that it's different and that's exactly what horror movies and movies in general lack. Man make a full length feature film that will blow everyone out of the water. I know you can and I know you will! Great work guys! Keep it up!!!
Stunning. Brilliant work indeed. I love the emotion of the piece and the long drawn out shots. The tension builds wonderfully. Well done guys!!
It's Finally HERE! Can't wait for the sequel:
When a TeePee a Rockin, Don't Come a Knockin
I have mixed feelings. The film looks and sounds superb. But I feel like the score is way overdone, and it would’ve been more effective if it had been quieter and subtler (this isn’t an epic story, and it just didn’t work for me). I wish you would’ve locked the camera down for a few shots (the one on the phone and the zooming shots that preceded it in particular), and I feel as though the story was incredibly bland. There was no arc. Just a girl living in a house, and then her dead husband comes back for the last 30 seconds. It makes it very hard to be invested, and it came off as generic.
The music level at the phone conversation was loud, but other than that I dont know what you're talking about. Music was fine.
If you actually took the time to read the description it says it's a proof of concept for the feature film of the same name in other words it's a demonstration and testing things out.
Incredible work as always! Was really hooked from the start- cant wait to watch the feature length version of this in a few years Ryan!

I've been following your career for a while and use it in my own instruction as a film teacher in MN. I am proud of the work you do and eagerly await your first full length feature. I'll buy a ticket! Keep rockin'
I cannot stop watching this. Everything about this is absolutely beautiful, the cinematography, lighting, movements, music, the credits, absolutely well done, love the cliffhanger and the credits are beautiful.. did I say this was beautiful?
I couldn't see the whole film clearly as my eyes were watered throughout!
This is masterful storytelling..the way you have crafted the emotional heft in this horror film is pretty hard to come by even in a feature... and the ending here is the hero.
Can't wait for the feature..
Thanks so much man! Really happy to read you liked it!
The scariest thing is ... how unoriginal it is. Come on, the jump scare with someone standing behind main character at the end - is what completely amateurs are doing in their short films for different online contests.
Damn, I watch Film Riot since 2011 and fully support Ryan and everyone else on the team. But to be 100% honest this isn't your best work.
In my opinion "Tell" was better executed from directing standpoint, loved that one. "Ghost House" was very similar in concept but had great payoff.
Again, I 100% appreciate everything you guys do, we all learned so much from you. I really, really want to just walk into the movie theatre one day and watch a feature directed by Ryan Connolly.
But for all the hype this one was a disappointment.
Peace, love and all the best with future projects!
P.S. Titles look badass, great job on that!
Ooo Mr. Film critic over here.
Vladislav Evdokimov If it does get funded for a feature film then I hope it won’t be kinda cheap how that end was..
@@brothedude8759 Yea, the costume is hilarious, using cg for this shot would be better.
Not so much of a jump scare once you watch the background and can see the creature coming slowly from the door, you expect the ending, but tension built from seeing it approach her makes it better than a jump scare.
Besides that, the film is more than just the ending, it’s the mood built and the tone of the piece as a whole. This short is great all round, granted the creature isn’t the most original, but as a proof of concept short film to sell the feature I think it’s great.
@@spamsfilms Have you seen Ryan's "Tell"?
direction is perfect... camera work is perfect.. story is amazing.. music awesome..and the most important Edit is superb... loved it.
Holy smokes! This was one of the tensest horror scenes I've ever seen. The *only* thing that didn't quite land for me was the jump at the end. The grandfather clock ticking pushed my heartrate through the roof. Great job! Can't wait to watch your feature.
Chase Smith : hats off man! This is brilliant. I saw the other videos where Ryan talks about how most of the look is baked in and it's absolutely mind blowing. You are the future.
Lucas : I'm sure you must have heard this often but this made me a fan of your edit. Great work man..
Daniel and Steve : The music and sound design is brilliant. Loved the mix too. It really made me feel drawn into this world.
Finally Ryan, we take a bow. You have outdone yourself. This has topped ballistic to become my favourite of your film. All the very best and I'm really really looking forward to seeing the feature.
Great job everyone. The production, as i can see must have been so extensive. Round of applause for the production team. You guys deserve all the good things in your career. Brilliant work.
Thanks so much! REALLY thrilled that you dig the film! Thanks for watching.
-Camera work was stellar and stood out in the best of ways. Drove the narrative very well.
-The emotional stand out was the voicemail scene. The lead’s performance was nice and understated, the loud booming score was terrifically powerful and extremely effective. The scene, I feel, epitomises the short: a simple story, well told (where the execution understands the potential for emotional resonance of a scene).
-There was some genuinely effective horror. I personally didn’t catch what she saw under the door, but the jumpscare then had the interesting effect of disorientating me and causing me to struggle to catch up with where the protagonist was at (induced anxiety in the viewer). The pin rolling out from the door was a very effective set piece and follow up. Again, the camerawork comes to mind in how it directs attention, builds and relieves tension, and sets up expectations.
-Production value was immense. Very clean and clear visually, the sound design was beautiful and really satisfying.
-My main concern with the piece comes with the protagonist behaviour. There are too many ways in which I feel she behaves like she’s in a horror movie. For example, the knocks at the installed door. While a knock at the door at the dead of night can be concerning and quite alarming, it isn’t TRULY horrifying. I feel the protagonist (and complimenting music) should not have erupted in fear until the entering the hall, and realising that the knocks are coming from the ‘door’ door (side note: I didn’t understand the spacial relation between her room and the hall. I thought she was upstairs, and I think this contributed to me feeling unconvinced by her immediate terror from the knocking sound). Another example would be earlier on, when the protagonist turns to the door and the score rumbles and groans and gets louder and louder. What reason does the lead have to believe that there is anything ominous about this door? And if the intent was that she looks at it and is reminded of her late husband, the music suggests otherwise. I saw this short almost achieve something that is very often poorly handled in horror: it is the camera’s job to show the audience what the character does not see. If the camera focuses too long on the door, we know there is something about that door. The character doesn’t have to act similarly, their ignorance might even make the audience more concerned for them. Have the protagonist behave solely as if they are in a drama, and use the camera to tell the audience when their is a concern. Only when the character actually takes note of the horror, should they react to it(which sounds obvious when I put it in a sentence like that so my apologies).
-I have one last criticism that is possibly a little unfair. I am sure, as the setting and characters felt very very real, you practice the idea of ‘what would x be if it was taking place in real life?’ (e.g. the stuttering when on the phone and dialogue in general) in order to ground the story. But I feel the dialogue needed just one more pass with this mentality. Just one. Again, sorry if this one is a little unfair because it is essentially ‘make this aspect more this.’ But anyway, nitpicks: I didn’t believe that someone would call a widow and offer condolences and explicitly mention their recent loss over voicemail. The obvious exposition was unnecessary as a whole. Seriously, the piece had already (with appreciated nuance I should say) exposited that she had lost her husband. I think the voicemail should have simply said something along the lines of: “I heard about John and… I’m sorry.” I believe this is explicit enough to effectively set up the following emotional climax.
My other nitpick would be the protagonist’s behaviour upon seeing her husband again. The scene seemed like a case of lack of adaption between what’s on paper versus what’s on screen. A lot of the dialogue tells us what we can read from the character’s face (her asking of “John. John, is it you? Is it really you?” felt excessive). Maybe it would have been better to focus on her expression, and have her visually journey from realising its him, questioning her reality, and concluding that she doesn’t care and just wants him back. Then you can follow up with “Can you stay?” (Which was terrific by the way. And again, the camera motion was unreal in this scene).
Before concluding, I’d like to say that I understand this comment is heavy with criticism, and that is for one reason only. I fully believe you guys have the ability to create your desired feature, and I have been looking forward to being able to watch your first feature since I first started watching yous when I was maybe 12 years old. I want it to be as good as it can be, for yous.
This story showed a clear understanding of character and gravity. It was extraordinarily well produced in every aspect and I am overjoyed at the accomplishment. I am ecstatic to watch the behind the scenes and I know that your film will exceed my expectations similar to how this short did. I believe in you guys and I believe in your work. Good luck.
Love it all! Amazing work as always. Can’t wait to watch the behind the scenes video.
This is fantastic, particularly the lighting and camera work and especially those end credits!
