- Hazbin Hotel Is One of the most popular shows on the internet right now. But despite its popularity, I see one thing really holding this show back.

I think the issue is just that the studio decides how long their episodes are and how many they get and they’re trying to do what they can to fit what’s in there but now that we know that it’s very popular in the studio knows it will make money. The next season is probably gonna be better or longer.
it's sad now that TV shows get cancelled after like season 1 or few episodes now these days,
Ludicrous. How can you not know that it will make money when the pilot and all spin off episodes released years ago pulled off between 20 and 100 million views consistently.
@@phoenix9531Yes but making the show is also expensive and Amazon is kinda new to animating so ofcourse they dont want to use too much on animation with the risk of only getting few bucks back
plus a lot of adult cartoon shows don’t look appealing/ look ugly 😬 so seeing independent projects release and get the support for their appealing art style, story telling, character design, and potential shows people do want more of this to be bigger and more normalized! and so many are just free on YT so the ability to get a big audience without a pay wall is helping them blow up!
The only issue Hasbin has right now is its pacing.
Everyone was putting too much emphasis in the pilot, while forgetting that it was merely a proof of concept. My thinking is that Vizzie had caught lightning in a bottle once Amazon Prime decided to green light her series and may have thought going in guns blazing was the best option since, well, the success of the series depends on it.
What I like about Hasbin is that it isn't Helluva Boss. It is an attempt at a wider audience without deviating too far from the more risqué, sexual jokes, but keeps it in tasteful bounds without alienating potentially newer audiences. The characters are less dysfunctional family and more a loose band of cohorts, brought together by the still-enigmatic Alistor, the Radio Demon.
I also hate the pacing. Within six 20 minute episodes we went from "Oh heres the whole cast and a few songs" to
"One of the characters is actually a fallen angel and btw someones gonna die oh yeah also she made a deal with (basically) the devil that one time lol, also here's the Lucifer and oh yeah now this character-" (out of order)

@@artistanthony1007 At the start, every pilot episode is considered canon. Proof of concept does not mean they get rid of everything.
But the pilot episode is an experimental episode, so even if the creator decides to change certain things, it's not the end of the word.
I think now the pilot was just... Inspiration for what's now the actual Hazbin Hotel show, I'm sure the show's devs are putting effort into the actual show, I can see that with the details like how in the pilot, Charlie wears her Dad's clothes, and in the actual show, Charlie wears casual clothing, and we still get to see charlie wear her Dad's clothes in the actual show's scene that *happened before the pilot happened* so surely those clothes Charlie used to wear that used to be her Dad's clothes, they're cannon after all, and also how in the pilot Charlie's pupils are pitch black, though in the actual show her pupils pure velvet red, her pupils in the actual show were always red, that's how we know her black pupils are not cannon, and I think that's a sign Charlie's a good person after all, since her pupils are bright red from the black they used to be before like a light growing, and getting stronger to overcome the darkness, compared to like... Maybe how the maskes of Adam, and Lute glitch to tell they broke their alliance to god ao they can so what they want, to tell Adam, and Lute are voids of darkness consuming light to dispose of the light against the light's freedom when they carelessly exterminate the citizens of hell who did nothing to deserve getting exterminated, my theory is the pilot is at least entirely true to how Charlie's dad Lucifer didn't want his daugter Charlie to try redeeming sinners, cause that would increase his chances of loosing his daughter Charlie, and his love for the chance his daughter could love with him till his end made him try to convince his daughter Charlie to not try redeeming sinners, and it's like it also made him design the pilot so that we the viewer who might go to hell ourselves someday would get his message to stay away from Charlie because we wouldn't be safe from Charlie, that we can tell from her black pupils, just because Lucifer hid the actual color of his daughter's pupils that's red, that we can see since we looked further than the pilot, now we see through Lucifer's lie, that we can never redeem, cause we trust Charlie's a good person now that we see Charlie's.pupils are actually red, now we can redeem, and Charlie has a chance to redeem us, as much as her dad didn't want her to try redeeming us.
The main thing that bothers me about hazbin hotel, and helluva boss too to an extent, is that they very quickly abandon the actual premise and set up of each respective show. If most of the hazbin hotel episodes had a more formulaic plot structure i think the more interesting and complex parts would actually stand out a LOT more because it would require more creative storytelling methods. Or the character spotlight episodes would at least feel more special. We could also get a chance to see how the main cast would interact with different people coming to the hotel to get a chance at redemption. Its absurd that they barely even use that premise outside of introducing sir pentious.
I also can’t care about angeldust being abused when we barely get time to grow to like him (ep 4 shouldve happened after episode 6 if you ask me). I can’t care about Vaggie being a fallen angel for similar reasons. The episode limitation no doubt worsened the pacing issues, but i think theres also just very base level structural issues with how they chose to handle that limitation.
Alastor is ironically my least favorite character, i straight up hate whenever hes on screen, but he rly is the only one who’s story is actually paced out in an compelling way. 😂

I’ve been a big fan of vizipop for awhile. I waited over a decade for this show and I love it. It’s everything I wanted, seeing these characters animated and hearing the voice acting and songs. I’ve had poison and hells greatest dad on repeat. I’ve seen so many of her speed draws and rewatching her music videos growing up. I’m so glad things like this are getting to exist more often. There’s another independent animator on CZcams who makes animated vampire music videos that I’ve followed for about as long that worked on hazbin. It’s just a really talented community. Hazbin has its issues but the songs and animation and it just existing is everything and more I wanted from this show.

The whole story must've been made up *multiple years ago* the youngest to have an afterlife in this show we know by far is Vaggie, she died in 2015, her first extermination may have been 2015's extermination, if Vaggie's first extermination was the extermination the pilot happened right after, thennafter the pilot, probably 2016's extermination happens, 2016 later in the story probably gets a second extermination, taking place half way through the year, for there to be enough time for the whole story to have been made up multiple years ago, before October 6 when the pilot was released in 2018, now that I think of it, Vaggie didn't seem as experienced as the rest of the exorcist in Lute's army, maybe cause Lute makes the exorcist experience why they must exterminate the citizens of hell, when she gets Vaggie to join in the extermination too inexperienced enough that she sees the innocence in the citizens of hell, just so Lute can leave Vaggie to be exterminated as well so the exorcist see what happens when they try to protect the citizens of hell against Lute's rules, and though Lute made that happen to Vaggie just so Lute can trick the exorcist into listen to Lute in the first place... Just how evil does Lute have to be?😢😭😰

I would counter the idea that Angeldust was presented as a complete lost soul in the pilot. Viv has a tell in her character presentation. If they are going to side with good eventually they will present with some moment of empathy for others. We see this in the pilot. When they first enter the Hotel and Charlie collapses on a couch Angeldust is standing there and clearly sees the pain she is in and he leans in while reaching towards her. But because he hasn't connected enough and his damage is still in the way he pulls back. He has empathy and thus is not lost. He just has a lot of pain going with that empathy and needs to find a way out it to connect.
oh absolutely! he was definitely not presented as a lost cause, that moment was a dead giveaway he was getting smacked HARD with the redemption mallet
As someone who has been loving the show so far, you made some really good points here, and I don't disagree with any of them. Truth be told, the real problem here is Amazon not letting Vizzie produce more episodes because this show would have been much better if it had "filler" episodes where we get to know more about the characters or they're interactions, perhaps see how Charlie is managing the hotel, etcetera. Should have started with Episode 1 and 2, then some filler, then Episode 3 for the Angel death reveal, then Episode 4 perhaps, some more filler, and finally Episodes 5+ for the actual Season 1 finale. Should have been at least 12 episodes in my opinion, heck, if we lived in an Utopia this season should have had 24 even. Oh well, let's just hope things get better in Season 2.

Because the show aired on amazon prime, I ignored it for a while. But yesterday I thought: Hey, why not give that a watch. Up to that point I had seen a couple of thumbnails saying it is terrible, and I wanted to see if that was true. So I watched the whole thing and in the beginning I wasn’t really blown away. I think the first two episodes of the show are its weakest, since after that I really enjoyed myself. The story was going places and characters I didn’t care about or disliked were starting to get good. The only thing that really bothered me was the constant singing. To be fair about 1/4 - 1/2 of the songs are actually quite good. The rest not so much. Again that is personal preference that I don’t like my media constantly breaking out into song, but for some scenes it kinda took me out of it. Some of the time they fit quite well though. Other than that I didn’t really have problems with the show. I didn’t mind the pacing, and I liked the plot.
I don’t think you can call this show terrible. If you get past it’s less than stellar start, I think the show is a lot of fun with some good emotional moments too.
I don’t have any beef with Vivsi Pop. My only complaint, is was when she decided to get involved with Scott’s “controversy”, which made me lose a little respect for her.
While yes, she was right to say it was dumb for Scott to reveal who he donated to, but it was stupid for her to even get involved in the first place.
Scott was even doxxed, and he has 6 kids. While Vivsi did deserve some minor backlash, she didn’t deserve to be doxxed.
Vivsi has her flaws, it she is t an evil person like how some people paint her as, she’s just done some stupid stuff.
I’m not a true fan of Hazbin Hotel, but I did watch the show to see how it was. I’d give it an 8/10.
I do wish VivsiPop luck, but I do wish she doesn’t make the same mistakes again.

Seriously Hazbin Hotel is a golden masterpiece and it's way better than most other adult shows far too many adult shows have characters and main characters who are selfish jerks 24 7 Charlie and her friends girlfriend and father are a breath of relief and fresh air from the usual selfish ungrateful characters that most adult shows prefer using.
Charlie is my favorite character.
Charlie Vaggie and Angel Dust are my favorite Character Trio.
Unlike the other characters in most other adult shows

Honestly I dont know how we let 8 episodes become the stabdard for a TV season but it does a significant disservice to a lot of the shows we watch and is ultimately what makes the pacing of the show so screwy. This meeded to be a 12-13 episode season, you can see how things had to be condensed down and glossed over for sake of time, but theres no plot points in the season that Id say were unimportant. Like theres nowhere really for them to do trimming to devote runtime to other plot points because everything is doing a bit of a balancing act. Each episode is dense because it has no choice, and if it had maybe 4-5 more episodes there would have been more breathing room, more time to explore points that get a little but of time, and more interaction between the characters.
I knew something like this would happen when I heard it was going to Amazon, the major distributors really love these 8 episodes seasons and we arent annoyed loudly enough about it.
To be honest I didn't like the first two episodes that much. the 3rd one was ok but from there I think the show is fantastic. Though pacing still was an issue. Angel Dust and Sir Pencious should have more time to grow as characters to make them change for the better and becoming friends be more organic
Honestly I would consider episodes 3 and 7 filler because they add literally nothing to the plot

I didnt know about this show until a month ago. Went and watched it and it was amazing.... I'm really hype for more...

Its obvious theres going to be a pacing issue, this isnt a big budget production. That isnt the creators fault... I understand wanting more but I cant understand how nasty I've seen people acting over it.
I wouldn’t necessarily say most people falling to Gray. There are definitely instances of black and white in this world. I think most people fall within a type of white, because they just want to be left alone others well that’s debatable.
Personally, I only have three problems with the show.
1. It's on Amazon Prime and I fear that it will be subjected to corporate corruption.
2. It should have had at least 10 or 12 episodes so it has more breathing room.
3. It lost the original cast because they weren't part of some union.

I actually dont think that itll be subject to too much corporate meddling because while it’s on amazon prime, its also produced by A24 who seem to allow creators a lot of creative freedom. The only real corporate corruption i think is, like you mentioned, the pitiful amount of episodes Amazon ordered this season. But since they ordered two more seasons, i doubt that will be as detrimental as the show goes on.
I think it lost the original cast because they wanted higher quality talent. I mean the original cast were good and all, but they werent Broadway level talent, and they likely would not have performed as well on many of the songs as actual Broadway tallent.
If this was any other kind of show, id be more inclined to agree with you. But when it comes to a musical, you really need people who are amazing singers for the highest quality of show. Broadway actors are people who this is literally their entire profession, so it makes sense to hire that kind of tallent if you have it in the budget for a musical.

Honestly there isn’t that much hate. They are just more louds and in facts the most popular hater critic has 1M views but a ton of dislike (more than likes) and the pilot has 1 dislike per 60 likes so just seeing that can make understand what the real opinion. This show is good and I will never start too quit a fandom for no reason and maybe the pacing is bad but the writing is great. the only, ONLY two things i can say Hazbin Hotel does wrong....
are the pacing, AND the fact that Charlie really doesn't feel like a main character... they need to make her more interesting and really focus more on making her *the* main character
but i suppose you could argue that, it's not that charlie is a bad character, but that all the other characters are beyond amazing
still, i personally do not hate the writing at all
the pacing however, we barely spent any time in the actual hotel during season 1
and didn't get to see many of their shenanigans
as pretty much every episode takes place atleast a month after the previous
and we saw the span of 6 months until the extermination in just those 8 episodes
and hopefully we get to see this expand in the future
especially with the new and revamped hotel

My main problem with the show is that it doesn't consider that there are people who don't know Vivziepop nor want to read the posts.
Because if you have to read posts and watch videos outside the series to understand the meaning and their relation, then it's not a good show. At least to me. My dad just watched it today and he didn't like it. Not because he was a priest and he knows the bible, he loves any kind of show. But he disliked how messy and crude the show is despite the story theme is more comedic and makes the plot of the story useless.
To me one of the most big issue of the story structure.. is the pure absense of God.

Being that all 8 eps are out now one of my main issues(prolly not a srs one tbh just my opinion) is the songs every episode, idk y but it’s annoying af how something happens and then it’s followed up with a song. I'll list a few reasons even though there's others, the show is barely adult & rxpe is not done at all, it's inconsistent, the team put in characters like Camilla who we do not know or give a shxt about and voices are so bad, they are painful to listen to compared to the Pilot Cast & make this show feel hollow and lifeless.

I hate it cause it glorifies hell and as a Christian I think showing a place that isn't very good shown as the main setting for a show is bad for younger people learning about their religion
I've heard everyone saying the pacing problem "is all Amazon prime's fault" aaand...... You're kinda right..... But also kinda wrong. You see, in the first trailer they released of Hazbin hotel, they said a second season was already in production, which means they were already working on a season 2 even before season 1 was released, so they didn't actually had any restrictions. Maybe it was Amazon's fault, maybe not, but if they gave you green light for a second season, they didn't even need to rush things.
Also, before Amazon prime, A24 was the first one to support the proyect.
I'm assuming you didn't see the latest live stream with Vivzie and the VAs of alastor and charlie, but basically they couldn't say that a season 2 was in production or not, because the announcement we got in the first trailer wasn't talking about production, it was just a greenlight on season 2.
Season 2 isn't technically confirmed yet, at the state it is rn it's still possible to cancel it, but considering the good reception of this show, hopes are high.
So yeah...you're also kinda right and kinda wrong. Yes: we know that season 2 was greenlit. No: we don't know if it's already in production or not, so it's very possible that Amazon truly started production only after seeing the series was worth it, aka...rushing was necessary for season 1.

@@rocbenaa1963 no not really lol. Green light means they have the intention to do it, enough intention to announce it, but actually starting production is another story (ence why the cast can't confirm or deny if it started or will start any time soon).
A lot of other series had more seasons programmed and green lit, but then got cancelled anyway (you know this is the case when the last season has a cliffhanger at the end of it, meaning that technically another season was programmed, but it didn't get produced)

Had they not deviated from the plot of the pilot and made the show less of a musical, this show would’ve been a lot better. We needed a story not a musical or a comedy.
But....The show has *ALWAYS* meant to be a musical. That's the entire point.

A lot of ppl say god won’t make an appearance in the show since it goes against Hebraic traditions and about Jesus, it’s a 50/50 chance of him actually appearing, on one hand we’ve already been introduced to St. Peter (which includes the actual existence of Jesus), on the other hand I think they want to keep the show as neutral as possible and that includes not making Jesus into the show

But about your comment about heaven: you misinterpreted all episode 6 if you even watched it. Heaven isn't bad or evil, but it is a flawed system, because no one knows what makes people worthy of going to heaven and everyone is clueless in general (except Seraphim) about the exterminators.
The exterminators are bad, yes, but it's only because they act like demons tbh. Killing without mercy isn't something a being of light would do, so these "angels" are the real evil in the whole series.

I refuse to watch either this or Helluva Boss. I don't think either of these shows are original and are just riding on the coattails of things like Homestuck and Undertale/Deltarune. All of them feature edgy humor, some kind of hellish or demonic landscape, character types from said realms or jester/harlequin types and way too many of those with pointy teeth. The point to seem edgy is just beyond cringe at this point. Yes I probably don't know wtf I'm talking about because I've only experienced little snippets of each. I also I have huge envy issues so yeah...
