"Haagsche hopjes" would be something to try. If you like candy that tastes like coffee and caramel.
I usually don't think of grocery stores for buying souvenirs (then again, I don't really buy souvenirs), but it is a cool idea especially with buying some local food to take back. It's nice that there is some kinds of cheese which does not require refrigeration when packing it in your suitcase.
I didn't really think of it before either but I started to realize that in many place supermarkets are carrying local products which I think is awesome!
We love to visit grocery stores when we travel somewhere new, and buy a reusable bag as an "everyday" souvenir for when we are back home. Is it typically for grocery stores to sell reusable bags, in Amsterdam?
Absolutely! In most of Europe, (maybe all) we don't have single use bags in the stores. So they have to offer reusable bags. Some are plastic bit very thick, and some are fabric. That's such a cool thing to take home!
Thanks for this wonderful video.
For cheese go to the market, much better than the supermarket, you're still a food lover! 👍
Absolutely! I really had in mind people who wanted a one-stop-shop kind of situation. But markets are always best 😊
Liquorice...do not chew it, give it time to melt...that's the secret... same with mints...
AH is very expensive, go to Lidl or Aldi, or if you have to Jumbo.
Gingerbread is called taai taai here, very different from speculaas.
Try "hagelslag" i love it😉

Of course! I love it, too! 😁 Though, apparently I eat it wrong 😂
Where are the cheapest places in Amsterdam to buy souvenirs like magnets or keychains or any other small souvenirs like small or tiny wooden shoes or windmills statues? Are there any souvenirs for 1 Euro like keychains? Are postcards cheap there? We will be staying in a hotel near the Central Station. Thanks for your assistance.
Souvenir shops are everywhere near central station, so I'm sure you'll find something 😊
@rlustForLife Hi! We were looking for 1 euro items in Amsterdam if there were any. How much are postcards there? Thanks for your reply.
Jenever, nope, try Berenburg, you can mix it with cocacola... or drink it pure..

"Old Amsterdam" is artificially aged cheese...do not buy it.. buy the real cheeses.. :)
Been there, done that! I like the speculaas that come in Delft-ish blue and white metal boxes.
Yes! A food souvenir you can keep. Great idea!
