Had never heard of this game until a month ago. Got it on sale for like $10 and HOLY SHIT its amazing. I haven't played a single other game since I bought it. • @HansWurst1569
    @HansWurst1569 Před 3 měsíci +16

It has the goofyness of oblivion, the storytelling of the witcher and the immersion of actual life. I know this is maybe a bit to much praise but the combination makes it so much fun. I have done multiple playtroughs, i LOVE the harder early game since its sometimes so unfair what happens but hillarious since the world is pretty immersive. That veil gets taken away then you laugh your ass off at some moments.
Henry after murdering someone and surrendering to a guard: What? I’m on a secret mission, trust me bro (and then getting away with it is so satisfying)

    1. Multi layered armor. This was something World of Warcraft was originally going to do but the ability to wear different layers of armor which is based on historically accuracy in fact it was recommended and required for them to wear layers of armor. You can wear a leather vest over a chainmail, the chainmail is worn over a cloth armor known as a gambeson so the chain doesnt chaff your skin. They all provide different benefits and protection like gambeson good for softening blunt damage and chainmail, leather and plate obviously preventing cuts from blades.
    2. The reward is the gameplay. Some quests might not offer much than some money and reputation but the real reward is from gaining increases in skills and stats just like in Skyrim. The game encourages you to just explore and play not rack your brain about getting the rewards. Everything you do in the game improves something. Running on horse just wandering around will gain horsemanship skill level ups, running around wandering and lost will still get you Vitality stat ups, just talking to people will get you Speech stat ups. The game will just reward you for playing the game constantly.
    3. There is so much to do. Farkle is the gambling you can bet how much money you want and Farkle is a very thorough game. It's authenticity is based on a 14th century invention of the game not 100% on it thoughh. Then theres the haggling game, the combat itself, the choices you make on the talking. There's a horse race, an archery contest that can get you money, the tourney DLC not only ups your combat skills and stats but you can win it for prizes. Playing out reputation is also another thing and don't forget the lockpicking and pickpocketing games.
    4. Consequences, timed quests and different loot. If you take certain choices some bodies to loot might not be available to you. You can miss out on some loot based on your choices but that introduces a lot of replayability. Some quests are timed and they don't tell you it is but with some common sense if you know the quest and objective of it you can figure the NPCs won't wait for you just like in real life.
    5. Though this can go with number 3. But the Reading Skill and how all the books are arranged with scrambled letters based on how high level your reading skill is is a marvelous effort done to the game.
    6. Survival game. Has survival elements like having to eat, sleep and also weight capacity.
    7. What clothing and armor you wear makes a vast difference in approaching different situations. You want to wear high charismatic noblemen clothing to impress merchants and have them lower the prices, and have your reputation boosted faster interacting with NPCs. How clean you are also makes a difference and frequent trips to the bathhouse before entering town will net you better deals and reputation gains. Wearing more stealthy lighter fabric to sneak around and do acts of thievery that lowers your conspicoiusness and noise is important. But you don't want to be caught in those sets of armor on the road because that's where the ambushes happen unless you have relatively good gameplay skills and stats/skills and can manhandle a bandit in your stealth or nobleman clothing you better swap to your plate and chainmail set to fend yourself against troves of bandits that hop out of the bush.

Also, I am looking forward to seeing Henry's involvement in the Hussite wars if the WH studio will cover this in the sequel. Would it be possible for Hans and Henry's friendship will be put to the test? And how will Henry face the future that most of what he cares for was taken from him? Because as I know historically Sir Radzig favours the Hussites that will result to his later tragedy while the Lords of Leipa are aligned with the Catholic faction.

The number of hours i have in this game is probably more than 1000. Most on ps4 but a few on Steam.
Needless to say i am a fan of this game. I love the combat, story setting and of course testing Henry's limits and mine!
Quality work. It's stealth and crime aspect is more fleshed out than most games I've played and YES an npc can hate you! I could not figure out why this one npc rushed me every time i came through town then later when going through my stash i found a piece of his outfit and had an oh! Moment. I knocked him out and nicked his facny hat and shirt the night before but he saw me before i got behind him so he "remember it was me".
The combat is awsome ^^ a learning curve sure because it is such a different style compaired to other games and to be good both YOU and Henry need to learn how to fight plus Henry needs to level his skills. You really do start out with the skill of a pesant... so if you pick a fight with a large group or a couple well armoured nights you will have your hide handed to you until you get good enough.
Great with minimal hud and hardcore mode option ( not too far from release settings for those that were part of that)

@@Dandoskyballer actually not a lot. I level to leg day - which does not take long at all then just let things organically happen for herbalism. Usually I buy my herbs after I get some good loot and mostly stop by the gardens or rare herb spots periodically if they are on route.
I don't pay for the training or rely on skill books - one save game alone has 500+ hours. The majority has been hunting bandits or game, the tourney ect. I like the combat and the stealth mechanics ^^. I like roving the map and hunting ambush spots as well. Or finding a fight I know I'd be foolish to try and see if I can strategically take it on. Like I said I enjoy testing limits and think the stealth is super well done! And one area I like to test it is the Monastery at all times of the day/ night for stealth ops.
I also will allow Alchemy to join the passive level list after the routine perk. That said I don't just sit there and power level to routine in one sitting. I usually just do a level or 2 at a time. And then sell the potions for early game low risk cash.
Most reading I do is if I am skipping time. It is generally my last skill I level out to max.
So while I don't have an exact count for you I can say that as one single playthrough has over 500h the time I spend grinding at anything is a drop in the bucket. Not anything substantial- I spend the vast majority of my time roving the map and looking for mischief 😀.... my Henry is not very honorable I guess.
Perhaps I will time my leveling in a future run along with time in main missions just out of interest.

Some of the historic authenticity goes out the window in the late game because of the scaling. By the time you have like 12 strength and the high tier maintenance perks you can use a sword to 1-2 shot people wearing plate armor. Henry scales up quickly, by the time you finish Baptism of Fire, you are usually fairly OP. Alchemy also deserves a shout out for breaking historic authenticity. Still one of my favorite games ever.

I played it when it came out and was expecting the second time to just be a walk down memory lane. Nope. Several things which I had done the first time were either replaced with other things I had to do instead, or else I accidentally did them a different way and got different events. Those who have played- I never needed to find the little waterwheel making nose, and Ulrich never dueled me, as just two examples. Really like the game despite the odd issue of peasants being better swordsmen than bohemian knights...

@@Airis96There similarities for sure played oblivion after but with the fantasy setting i could not get into it. Love games like Kingdom come, RDR2, Ghost of Tushimia and Far cry Primal that are grounded in the real world but still a fiction story. I love Witcher 3 and witcher 2 but the fantasy is not really why like them more so the story telling. But Witcher as a fantasy game is much more interesting then Others. I love medievel settings but adding fantasy feels like Putting pineapple in pizza both great on their own but together are awful for me. I fine with Fantasy but not mixing it with history.

@@John-996 Couldn’t agree more. Fantasy is so overused and lame compared to immersion and realism. I personally find it hard to get into The Witcher but I love Elder Scrolls. The biggest issue with Oblivion for me is the leveling system and enemy scaling it makes it pretty much unplayable.

I kinda liked the video, but...when you tell about the gorgeous open world, targeting people who haven't played the game and you want to convince of its geniality, MAYBE show some of the gorgeous open world instead of a lengthy conversation that's impossible (and would be counterproductive) to follow.
If I see a video of a game I don't know, pages and pages of text won't tell me a lot. Sure, there's the script you wrote that tells the main story/info, and the game's story rich, but man, it's a video. Show visuals.

Amazing game Kingdom come ,RDR2 and Witcher 3 are hands down the best open worlds of the ps4 generation and some of best open worlds of all time. Kingdom come is criminally underated I really so much better then some games with much higher budgets. I love Medieval settings but hate fantasy with Witcher 3 and 2 being the only fantasy games i like but Witcher is much more dark fantasy and is more unique then other fantasy games. Kingdom come Much Like Bully has setting is really rare in terms of having a grounded Medievel setting. Kingdom come, Red dead, Ghost of Tushimia and Far Cry Primal were dream games for me.

The combat system when fighting more than one enemy is absolutely broken, it's a mess. One of the most important/frequent aspects of the gameplay is attrocious yet I still love it. Instead of giving a game a go, gamers nowadays relay mostly on reviews and on what "youtubers" tell on product. If one of them, with couple of hundreds thousands subscribers, will categorically state that "game without magic sucks", or "combat system sucks because I cannot play the game with one hand and check facebook/instagram/tiktok/etc. with another", or "the game sucks, because it was not marketed widely and loudly enough", whole bunch of people will go away without even trying it. Not to mention, that if game has not got the multiplier, it is "doomed to Pariah fate"... Unless bigger amount of effort and money is placed on marketing and advertisement, then on the actual game itself. States a lot about direction world's society is heading (I mean the part of world's society that does not starve, dies from dehydration nor is getting killed on daily bases by another part of world's society...)

This is probably my favorite game of all time, but I find its impossible to recommend it to anyone. It has far too many flaws to a point where when youre "good" at the game its because youve found ways to NOT engage with most of its systems. A good example of this is how its pointless to learn how to fight because all combat is done with a single button press. (Masterstikes)
