- It’s hard to appropriately describe what I have experienced last weekend during the 2024 NHL Mascot Showdown with my favorite mascot, huge inspiration and idol, Stanley C. Panther of my Florida Panthers.
Because picture’s worth a 1,000 words, I went even further and created a video, but not just a simple video. After 7 hours of editing and going through 35 minutes of footage, here's my is my Thank You gift to Stanley C. Panther!
Sit back & grab a tissue as your eyes WILL get wet while we’re going on a quest to find the answer on what or who exactly is the magic of mascotting. A testimony of the wonderful memories Stanley C. Panther creates, From spreading joy to those who need it most, to igniting a child’s endless imagination and transporting them briefly into a world of fantasy and make-believe, where a giant, soft, huggable Florida panther - right out of a bedtime story world - becomes alive to winning over a child’s heart as they hear their laughter!
There are 30 NHL mascots, and Stanley C. Panther is unlike anyone else. With his simplistic, cute look and lots of soft, huggable fur, Stanley C. Panther is one of the most adorable and family-friendly sports mascots, working very well with young children. Every side is his best side and that was easy to see during the 4 days of fun during the recent NHL Mascot Showdown. Who would always hang out the longest with the fans after the daily mascot games, despite being tired and exhausted? Stanley C. Panther. Who would never stop going the extra mile for some of his most special fans? Stanley C. Panther.
This video is a compilation of the magical moments I’ve had the privilege to witness around South Florida’s Coolest Cat and a gift from me to him to say thanks and offer my appreciation for how he has inspired and helped me - and many others that have the pleasure to be around the Florida Panthers mascot. Thank you, Stanley, - not only for the gift YOU gave me, but most of all, for everything you’ve done for me. You would never let me down, right until the very last second after walking out of the convention floor, hand-in-paw with me. You, Stanley C. Panther ARE the Magic of Mascotting! You are providing me moments that made it all worth to fight through my special needs childhood with countless hospital stays, therapies, doctors appointments and months in ICU.
For almost two decades, Stanley C. Panther has a very special place in my heart as he went great lengths to make sure to provide me with some extra magical moments. Back in 2006, I came from Switzerland to attend a Panthers game during my Florida vacation - and randomly met Stanley - without even knowing before that a mascot would be present. I had no idea about mascots as mascotting isn’t that big in my country. That random moment of meeting Stanley C. Panther would have a lasting impact on me. I was born with a birth defect called Congenital Varicella Syndrome that has relying me on a feeding tube. Up until 2014, this condition caused me to be bedridden for up to 150 days a year. During this time, after my 1st visit to a Panthers game, I began to research about Stanley C. Panther and mascots in general and found out what they do in the community. Watching Stanley’s heartwarming content that often had him visit little kids in hospitals, do charity work or attend birthday parties, helped me smile during a difficult and dark time of my life. That‘s why he‘s so special to me, that‘s why I‘m so thankful for what he does to me & others! Thank you so much, Stanley, for all these little magical moments, the joy and smiles you spread to me during this weekend! You are truly South Florida’s Coolest Cat! Let’s Go PANTHERS!

What a sweet video! Oh my heart! Had me tearing up! How wonderful to receive and give so much joy and love to all he meets! He even gave me much needed joy just watching him. 🩵
Despite not having the social media popularity level of a Gritty or Buoy, I know Stanley's aware of the pawsitive impact and difference he makes with people. He's a godsend to our Panthers, a mascot of the people. Approachable, adorable, lovable and always a class act!

THIS is why I wanna pursue my dream to become an NHL mascot. This is amazing!
Never give up on your dreams! If you read my story with Stanley in the video description, I'd have never thought that someday I'd be able to travel and be close to him, despite living on another continent - and not only that, I've got to experience things with him that not every other fan would. Being a pro mascot is an extremely physically demanding job, yet this video shows, why it's all worth it! Most of these mascots start at high school or university/college level and then work themselves up into the major leagues. Claws crossed for you!
I'm not crying, you're crying.......OUTSTANDING video. I know I've tweeted at you already this week about how much you love Stanley and how much you want to see the Panthers finally win a title. And I'm still hoping they can do that, even though the Oilers are playing so well at the moment. But how you feel toward Stanley is how I feel toward SO MANY of my friends in the furternity. It's how I feel when I see ThunderBug, Sharkie, Blue, Boomer, TORO, Sluggerrr, Southpaw....the list can go on and on for me. You highlighted every reason why mascots are so amazing and why we as their fans appreciate them so much. Keep up the outstanding work and keep being an incredible fan!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Stanley helped me so much and continues to be an inspiration and role model to me. He is so underrated and works so hard for people that haven't always been on the sunny side of life. He is how a mascot needs to be: Sweet, cheerful, always pawsitive, patient and very approachable. My highest respect!

Stanley was born in the Big Cypress Reserve, right in the beautiful Everglades National Park, where Florida panthers continue to roam until today!
aww this is so sweet! im a florida native and panther fan myself and he’s always spreading joy throughout the arena. i also love viktor, who’s the 2nd mascot and he’s always doing funny shenanigans throughout the arena. im going to the game tonight and im excited to watch tarasenko play for the first time!
Aww, lucky you! I have to travel all the way from Switzerland, but that still doesn't stop me from being a huge Panthers fan and making it to a handful of home game each year. If we make it to the Stanley Cup finals, I'll be ready to hop on the next flight to South Florida and attend the watch parties (seriously!) If our beloved Stanley gets to lift the trophy he's named after, I better be there to witness that in person!
You hardly ever see Stanley using negative emotions and that's what makes him such a great mascot! He's one of us, a mascot of the people, who simply LOVES to hang with fans, making sure everyone's having a good time! He's incredibly approachable and goes so well with small children, which are the Panthers fans of tomorrow!
You have fun tonight! Hopefully, Tarasenko will fit in nicely into our way of playing the game. If we manage to stay healthy all the way through, I know we'll get very, very far! If you happen to run into Stanley, say hello to him from his special fan from Switzerland (he knows, I have sources!) There's his birthday party right before Saturday game vs. the Flames. Sadly I'll miss that, but as said, I'm saving money for a potential spontaneous June trip. Hope to be able to attend his birthday party another year.

Pawsome!!!! Reminds me of Jammer of the Joliet Jackhammers baseball team who was always happy to see my dad, stepmom ( before she died of bone cancer ), and I. One Jack Hammers game he got me to play the drums as he crashed two metal trashcan lids together to rally the team. I was coming from the concession stand with an soda when he tapped me on the shoulder then pointed to the drums. Also one Chicago Wolves Hockey game Jammer was there and gave me an hug. Then he was in an Chicago City team mascots VS Chicago Suburbs Mascot hockey match between 1st. and 2nd, period and they used an beach ball at that hockey game. The Joliet Jackhammers is no more and the new team is the Joliet Slammers and they have two mascots Jail Bird and an Police Officer Bulldog they both do cartoon style antics of teasing and chasing each other. =^.^=
That one dude really loves Stanley... Aawww.
It's really, really hard not to love him and my relationship with him is indeed very special. I know it reminds him why he does this job of portraying a soft, huggable, friendly, caring and kind-hearted Florida panther.

i really hope the panthers win their very first Stanley cup this year and Kitwana what's your favorite baseball MLB team and NFL teams are
I mean, compare with where my Panthers were in the standings exactly one year ago. Remember, we've only made the playoffs via a wild card spot before our historic run began. Now look at where we rank today, it's almost scary how well we fare not only in our Conference but also league-wide! I'm telling you, if they make the finals again, I'm going to sit on packed suitcases, ready to fly out to South Florida to support them - and I want nothing more than seeing with my own eyes how Stanley C. Panther lifts that trophy a 5 years old boy named him after! Then he'll no longer be just Stanley C. Panther, but a true STANLEY CUP PANTHER! GO CATS GO!!!
As for my favorite NFL team, it's the Seattle Seahawks and I've had the pleasure of attending one of their home games back in 2016 when we still had Russell Wilson (he alone was worth the ticket price), plus the atmosphere there is second-to-none! Don't really have a favorite MLB team. The big cats and mascot nut in me would like to mention the Detroit Tigers have a cool mascot and nicely-themed stadium:)
