I would love to see this guy on Drummeo. Seriously. I what to hear everything he knows about working with A2E, midi and his approach to sequencing and drumming in general.
I saw this man live in south africa at a workshop. He is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He smiled through the entire thing. Biggest smile. He was so kind to us and put on an amazing show
So if anyone wonders where modern “gospel chops” came from, guys like Brian Frasier-Moore, Chris Dave and Chris Coleman will tell you they idolized Akira Jimbo, and this instructional video specifically. Music is beautiful.
@@joshsinclair7548 If you're still in the area or ever are, MOST of the guys from the OG Music Loft days are over at SoundPure in Durham. They became Indoor Storm in Raleigh after Music Loft closed and then SoundPure after that. They still have top notch gear.
I had this DVD!!! Best drummer ever in terms of technicality. Besides maybe buddy rich, but he's a legand. Not fair. And Jamie saint merat for a metal band drummer IMO
When one gets lost in the sea of Dave, Virgil, Dennis, and Vinnie videos.. there's Akira. Such creativity and flair that just might be nonpareil.
Damn you just hit the nail on the head!
…and we forget about this guy? Lol He’s crazy good and musical!
Gadd, Phillips, Cobham
The early 80s-early 2000s was definitely Akira Jimbo's most prime drumming

This guy has PERFECT timing.

I'm really glad that I have all of Akira Jimbo's DVD that I bought 20 years ago. 🥁💕

I saw him at a clinic at Mars Music in Raleigh, NC in the late 90’s. He blew me away.

Way Nicer than Dream Theater.
Literally different genres. How can you even compare.

so fucking sick @10:15
what model are the drums? doesn't appear to be a recording custom or tour custom, which were both very popular in 1992, when the video was recorded
ナットの形状と年代から、多分ビーチカスタムじゃないですか?昔カタログで見ただけだから曖昧ですけど

i'm kinda curious, how does he turn on the trigger on his bass drum? is that a track he's following or the bass drum itself making that funky sound?
Me recuerda a nuestro Luis Alberto Espineta.
Es un robot, ejecuta sin inmutarse. Si lo contratan para tocar algo normal cómo una balada seguramente le agarre un síncope.

I'm confused, are his rims triggered or something? How is he doing that O_O

Great example of a technical master with no soul. No theme or rhythm that you can bob your head to.
I bet he can play ac/dc tunes if he needs to.
