- A concise introduction to the coastal town of Swakopmund, situated on the West coast of Namibia. This feature focuses on all that Swakopmund has to offer, from activities to services, accommodation to development, this video summarises what living in Swakopmund feels like and what visitors can expect.
Oh my Heavenly Father 😳 14 years in Europe & things has changed drastically a lot in my hometown Swakopmund... I'm in tears of pride & nostalgia. That's where I grew up & completed my school. And I'm very proud that they are expanding. This is a wonderful video. Greetings from Austria
Thank you, Ich bin so froh dieses von dir zu hohren, Ich bin kein Europäer, ich habe deutsche Wurzel und spreche Deutsch, ich wünsche so sehr das Namibia kann weiter wachsen zusammen mit den Deutschsprechende
There is something to learn. The people sacrificed their comfort to achieve all this. Very happy for the Namibians!
@@lilyswidjaja2760 Hi Lilys.

Come home!!!!
Was für ein schönes Land! 🥰😇😍. Ich werde auch mal dorthin fliegen! ❤🥰😇!
I have been in 15 countries and 67 cities. None compares to Swakopmund. See you again soon.
More needs to be done to promote this place. I would surely visit it. I came across it through a music video by Nasty C. If only African cities knew how lucrative is tourism. Countries like Netherlands and Sweden turn away tourists in their countries now because they are full but Africa seems to lag behind in attracting tourists that will spend. Cape Town gets a fair share of tourists but Durban (Ballito, Umhlanga, Manzimtoti and the rest of KZN - Scotsburg, Margate, Drakensburg etc have a huge potential and they are unknown to international tourists.
No mention of thick sea fog all along the coast, WHY ?
It is mentioned right in the beginning of the video
I'm a Brazilian, who loves Namibia.
me
Much love come visit:)
This is how you do a presentation of a town.

My birth country the best town in namibia love love love swakop!!!! Woop woop!!!
best presentation!!! I never get enough of swakopmund.
Was there in 1979...(loved it) on the way back from Etosha... came to the conclusion that Namibia & Cape Town were the best places in Africa... but on viewing Johnny Clegg's DVD - Set of 5 vids ....
"South Africa : A Country Imagined" definitely had a re-think...
Then in 2000/2001 stayed in East London... another pristine "best-kept-secret".... swam in Gonubie River with Otters not far away from us... rolled with a white lion... Africa is truly magnificent!!! My swiss friend said he understood why lots of South Africans don't need to travel overseas as they've got it all here on their doorstep...
To take a boat cruise from Swakopmund to Lüderitz. What a wonderful thing to do.
Wardenwarden warden Your need strong stomach! Nothing about thick sea fog all along Namibia coastal area
Simply beautiful.
beautifully crafted production and professonally narrated by a gentle female voice over, my hometown, my soul......so blessed....
Perfect!!
Lovely video. brought back happy memories. I visited Swakopmund in 2010. loved it . A very elegant town with the 19th century feel.

Schöne Stadt, wunderbar 👍🇩🇪
My beautiful beach town
Judging by her name and profile picture, I think it is safe to guess that she is either black or coloured, in which case your point holds no ground.
On the case of such point that is completely untrue - the territory comprising Namibia was settled and organised by German colonists whether you like it or not, the boundaries were designated by Germans, the culture and nomenclature largely owes to the countries ex-German heritage and the enormity of Protestantism brought over by such colonists can not be denied. Regardless of how you see such colonists, you cannot deny that anyone of any colour has the right to live in such a land (though of course one could argue of priority in favour of Herero, Khoisan etc.)
What you propose is no different to suggesting that Turks should all return to Anatolia and give Thrace back to the Hellenic Republic (as such land was invaded and numerous inhabitants borderline enslaved under the Devshirme system), never mind the Armenian genocide. Granted I'm aware that it's quite a low blow to speak of such - though you can see the point nonetheless.
Last but not least, it is "Africa", which Turkey (under the Ottoman Empire) also colonized (see Ottoman Tripolitania), should ethnic Turks still remaining in Libya be forcefully evicted based on their race, regardless of their cultural heritage and racial relations with other Arabs? If not, then surely it should be no different for Namibians of coloured/European background.
@SAMREZ-55 Why don't you start with yourself and GTFO of Cyprus, eh?
@SAMREZ-55 Dream on.
We just visited and absolutely fell in love with it!
Wir haben ein haus in Swakopmund und fliegen jedes Jahr dorthin...habe viele Locations gesehen die ich auch kenne💕
Swakopmund was founded on 4 August 1892 by Kurt Von Francoise.

There is an excellent remake of the Prisoner set in Swakopmund.
I am saving up to buy a home in Swakp and relocate there for good.

Swakopmund, wir vermissen dich so sehr. Liebe Grüße an Ariane von der beach lodge
What is it like in June, July and August ?
Super cold
beauty full place
Cold and quiet 😂....but in a good way though 👍🏽
great
Es ist eine wunderschöne Stadt
I am evalt from south Africa I like to visit Namibia what must I do.
You don't need a visa to visit....you can stay max 90 days without visa
Look for the tourist companies call them
For any SADC citizen, it is very easy to visit Namibia. All you need is your passport, car with enough fuel and money for where to stay. You can drive any day depending on which side of bed you woke up and pockets well loaded for your trip.
I'm sold
when you tell a typical motswana that this is Namibia, You will argue until Ian Khama comes to your rescue with a sponsorship letter to there..!
NYIME TV Batswana always look down on Namibians but Namibia is miles ahead in infrustructure despite the slightly lower GDP.
@Rehumile Letlole 😂 its nothing really... we are one my neighbour.
@Rehumile Letlole Your fact is wrong: I see u have not been to Namibia before. Namibia has 2nd highest white population in Africa after South Africa. Please visit Namibia to agree. 98% of white pipo u see are not tourists. Infact much of infrastructure was built by them and of course they continue to invest where they stay . 50% of the population of swakopmund are namibian Germans en namibian boers. Same wth Walvis Bay at 20% en Windhoek en many other towns. Thanks.
@@sylvisvlogs6215 there are more than 200 000 white Namibians. Impression is created that every white seen in pic is tourist no. Only people who didn't research on Namibia or have not been there will think so. Thanks
@Rehumile Letlole I just gave u correct information when I read Yr comment on 'tourist' only that's all. Am not into ARGUMENTS OF BOTSWANA - NAMIBIA. Namibia dnt need Botswana en Botswana dnt need Namibia. There is nothing that we get from each other. It's unfortunate that somebody mentioned Botswana in the comment where u replied but by looking at his name it looks like smbdy who has families on both sides accross border. I believe he was joking. Am not interested in what he said. Me I Was just giving correct info.not about infrastructure. That's all.
Swekopmund a prison of Nature n its beauty, um a L.P.H&G in Zimbabwe.
Can a foreigner live, there and buy homes, there ??
Yes
There's quite the population of foreigners here that have settled well, especially Germans would feel close to home but anyone in general will find it a pleasant place to live
it resembles california.
Oh,thx!!!
informal settlement... is this the same as South Africa where the black people had to live in poor areas and others in privileged parts. I am only asking as I have never visited Namibia as this is in my bucket list.
You will love Namibia - in SA as in Namibia, those who can afford it, live in the more affluent areas. The informal settlements are for the poorer citizens.
🎉
German occopation was also reconstruction
I'm White from Canada, but am just curious why there is so many whites around? Is it just tourism? Is it something that the locals like or is it too much tourism?
Swakopmund was founded by German colonists.
We have alot of white people in Namibia who make up about 25% of the population and many of those lives in Swakopmund
More like 7% I think.
mike h well firstly I'll mention its a germany colony....secondly they killed a lot of the natives 15 million to be exact..still way more blacks there tho..
+ jacob lay Where exactly did you get this figure of 15 million from? Perhaps you should check your sources before you spout slander. The utter ignorance is astounding.
swakop ich vermisse dich so sehr ❤️❤️❤️💓
*Where did they get the money to build this city and why doesn't the rest of the country looks like Swakopmund, why aren't they sharing their information with the rest of the country.*
The money? Hard working people, some people like to live like 2000 years ago, if they like it why not?
All Namibian town r very biutiful.Namibia is a rich country but still allot must be done!!!
3rd comment
Who controls the country?
NEW YORK OF AFRICA.
DEUTSCH-SUED-WEST-AFRIKA !!!!!👍👏🍻
Klaus Rhodes Für jeden einen Platz an der Sonne.
Nein
Klaus Rhodes, NONSENSE. Is Germany also called Namibië-Deutchland Wes Europa? If that doesn't apply to Germany it doesn't apply to Namibia as well.
Most whites are either afrikaners or german Namibians
yes there also others like French, Portuguese, English...
The whitest city in africa :D
Luke Bickner Because of the colony but still an african country. Please respect that. There aren't a whitest city, but just a city.
Danni Hjøllund Karjaälainen actually it's a town, Whk is the only city in Namibia
Orania is much whiter (97%)
THICCmachine:. Well, east west home is best, Namibia is a black country it is their home, where is those whites' home?
Danilo Dankow:. Go back to where you belong, you are an intruder.
