I read it a while ago and in my opinion it went to shit because they tried to give the psycho MC a sense of morality that he didn't have previously. It was like the author suddenly realized that the MC wasn't all that relatable because he was too much of a sociopath, so he tried to give him some "pet the dog" moments with his sister and then tried to make him into a good guy who rallied against the dead tube organization. When in my opinion, it was all more interesting when nobody was trying to be moral here, ya know? If anything it should've ended on a interesting note where the MC finally got karma for all he and his friends did, etc. or hear me out... give the MC an rival like a policeman who were genuinely good and stuff. That way we have dymanics like L and Light from Death note, Walter White VS Hank Scrander from Breaking bad, etc. something that could really drive the story along.... what little there was of it. XD
I think this was the author's first manga that is why the manga feels so trashy without character development.That is why in his next manga Tomodachi Game it has better writing even if there is still no character that is "good".

Nice to know it hasn't changed. If you'd like some recommendations, a couple good movies in DeadTube's conceptual ballpark are The King of Comedy (excellent story about the horrors of being a public figure with stalker fans, made before the Internet even existed) and Spree (not perfect, but touches on how a terminally online person sees views at any cost as being the only measure of their own self-worth).

The worst arc was the one where the guy became a school shooter due to them bullies and how his childhood best friend literally had sex with his bully infront of him while taunting him.

My head canon is that the story ended around vol 13 and 14, with the Yomiko the ender arc. The next volumes doesn't make things more intresting, is like a "film research club" arc 2.0 and a bootleg crazy rascal arc 2.0 inmediatly after that, and the two recently arcs are just boring
Dead Tube is a manga I put in the "so bad it's good" category. The whole point to me came across as trying to convey that people will do absolutely anything for attention online, but it is told in the most over-the-top, ridiculous way that the author pretty much from the get-go became what he was satirizing. I check in on it every so many months to see how nutty it has gotten and have a giggle.

DeadTube is basically the manga version of Manhunt. While both came out in different times, they both know the shit they are making isn't rainbows and sunshine it's about gore and the violent mindset a person could do on camera. But keep up the good work, my dude.
I get what you're saying, but I think if you want guro, there's way better works out there, and if you want commentary on violence, this is about as heavy-handed as you can get
@NINJAMUSHI I mean the author of the book is trying to be an edge lord ( and I can tell cause Black Metal is the same), but they will never be on the same level as Rockstar north I believe. The dude can write whatever they want, while Rockstar was divided over Manhunt and how the violence was shown. DeadTube gets sometimes silly with its kills, and Manhunt is close to actually fucked up ways to murder. The book can be bought in Japanese or read online, but Manhunt is banned in other countries. And for the sequel of Manhunt it got hit hard as it was almost going to be impossible to own cause it was almost rated A for adults. Also, if you know any other stories close to DeadTube, I am down.

I think the author made what he wanted without social commentary i think hes successful in his own right. There may be no deep development but its to serve a dark non sense entertainment. In a way the comic existing so long kinda parallels the theme. The more shocking and gruesome each arc gets, the more people want to see what can be next. If it was meant to send some message or make a chad characters then it'd be truly bad. Id say its a fun and easy tread, 6/10 maybe higher or lower when i catch up
