TRIP REPORT | Air Canada Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (PREMIUM ECONOMY) Toronto to Munich

  • My first time flying in Air Canada's Premium Economy Class, as well as my first time flying on a 787-9! Air Canada introduced their Premium Economy product in 2014 with the introduction of the 787s and their new cabin, and has since been included on their reconfigured Boeing 777 fleet as well. This particular Dreamliner was delivered in January of 2017, making it one of the last aircraft to be delivered in Air Canada's old livery. Enjoy this trip report!
    Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the excellent report. I used to work for Boeing. I retired in June 2014 and the last 787-8 I was involved with was #125. Oddly enough after all this time I still haven't flown on an 87. But your video sure makes me wanna' go somewhere and on an 87, even with stale bread! Again, thanks! ;-)

    So, I was booked to fly to YWG from YYZ this last Monday. I upgraded even though the aircraft was shown to be a Baby Bus. When I got to the gate there had been an equipment change to a 787-9. Best upgrade ever!

    flew Air Canada Dreamliner Toronto to Vancouver yesterday and had the exact same seat 13K! decided at checkin to splurge with a last minute upgrade to premium economy and was not sorry. It was one of the most comfortable flights I have ever had. from the seat, to the legroom, to the amazing recline of the seat, to the beautiful breakfast on actual china plates and real cutlery, to the easy and quick IFE. and to the professionalism and kindness of flight attendants, it was a memorable experience. beautiful aircraft to fly on.

    Boeing sure makes good airplanes. I’ve flown in so many 737s I’ve started to appreciate the company. I even toured Boeing’s factory once. It was fun. My favourite airline is WestJet, but I like Air Canada too. After all, it was Air Canada flight 797 that gave us the escape path lighting system that helps us find exits in the dark

    I have flown long-haul international flights between Asia and North America and found the 787 windows are fantastic, large and have the dimmer control to darken the windows without the pull-down shade. Passengers are still be able to see out them yet the cabin is dark enough not to disrupt sleeping passengers.

    Great video as usual! I'm a little late seeing this, watching in 2020. When you said take off was from 24L, I knew you had to make either a right or left turn. When you turned left, I was hoping to see shots of the lake or the skyline of Toronto. That was the only downside to the video!! Enjoyed it none the less!

    I am always amazed at the 'bendy' wings; with wing tips 'higher' than the fuselage in flight; thanks for sharing; a Grade 7 classmate captains for Air Canada on the 787s; yes I am jealous :)

    As always, excellent video. Brings back memories of crossing the pond with AC. Only in economy. LOL. Hopefully this pandemic is over sooner.
    In terms of the flight attendants, as long as they were not rude. Many people are not happy to be at work, though professional.

    Great video :D I'm amazed that you are 6'8 and still had plenty of room, I also like the 2-3-2 configuration it's so much better than 3-4-3 layout. I never flew AC 787 Premium but it certainly seems worth it from what I've seen. The meal in particular looked appetizing lol. I've flown with Lufthansa and they also had metal cutlery instead of plastic.

      @jasminejohnston6393 Před 4 lety

      Yeah they could’ve served it with like a cup of tea or coffee but I like banana bread so it still looked nice...not that taste matters on a flight since changes in air pressure at high altitudes weakens your sense of taste which results in even the spiciest foods tasting bland at 35,000 feet, but I’d enjoy it anyway!

    I flew on Air Canada's 787 in Premium Economy to Tel Aviv with that exact menu. I had the beef and it was really good (sorry, don't mean to rub it in :3) but the guy sitting beside me had the chicken and he really enjoyed it. The seat is really comfortable and just a pleasant experience overall.

    Fantastic video Alex, I'm hooked and subscribed. I like how your filming is so smooth and unobtrusive. How do you get all the flight/aircraft information like engine types, registration, callsign, runway designation, and things like when the aircraft was delivered to the airline?

    • @AlexPraglowskiAviation
      @AlexPraglowskiAviation  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you very much! The registration, if I can't see it from the terminal, I usually find by looking back on my flight's FlightRadar24 history, where I can also see what runways were used. From there, I use planespotters.net to find the engine types/age of the aircraft. The callsign is often just the airline and the flight number, with some exceptions - British Airways being "Speedbird", etc.

    I really don't notice the difference in higher cabin pressure or humidity in the 787's. The one thing I could tell blindfolded if I was brought on board, seated and then took off was the much lower engine noise.

    Great video. I was in 13k on the 787 to LHR and the meal choices were gone. IT''S THE 2nd ROW!!!! . People seated in economy row behind were given a choice. I was told I could have that option or nothing. Very disappointed for being seated in the 2nd row of premium. I doubt I'd pay extra again. That is crazy, very bad catering job for AC

    Was wondering if you or anyone else who has flown Premium Economy on AC can provide some input with regard to the head rest? It seems to jut a fair bit out from the seat based on pictures. Was wondering how the seat was for neck and shoulder comfort? Almost looks as if shoulders would not sit against seat back without neck being pushed forward (away from seat? Would appreciate your feedback.

  • @LukeOnTheMove
    @LukeOnTheMove Před 4 lety

    Air Canada is great but their prices are not competitive atall it's only effective to fly with them if they have a really big sale or you collect lots of Aeroplan miles for business. Their premium is a joke it's double and sometimes triple the price of their economy. You could buy out an entire row of economy (3 seats) and have a lie flat bed for cheaper than premium economy. I only consider flying premium if it's 20-30% more expensive as that is all its worth
