Elephant Yindee is becoming a true young bull. Yet his mother and his nannies still treat him as a baby boy. Almost eight years old, his mother still allows him to take her nipple. A teenager wants to express his freedom, independent of the herd at Elephant Nature Park.
He wants to explore his area alone, without his small herd following him always. His nannies want to keep him close, but he does not agree with that.
Whenever Yindee walks far from their eyesight, chaos begins, and his mother nannies will trumpet for him very loud.
Sometimes he will answer back from far away to let them know that he is OK, but his message is often inadequate. The herd seeks assurance that their little boy is OK.
HERD manners are very amazing. Their natural management to look after the baby in the herd are unbelievably organized. The younger nanny who is stronger will respond as the disciplinary. This one will look over and attempt to controlanagemebt of the baby's safety.

Yes, that kicking is assertive male elephant behavior. Alot of the gentle phants in this sanctuary are females which are a bit gentler than males, except if someone is messing with their offspring.

She was a young nanny, and he was at that bull-developmental age when he is coming into far greater independence. Now in Sept. 2021, not too long ago, the herd kicked him out, as he was expressing aggression against the older females in the herd, pushing them down to their knees and using his one tusk (he had broken the other one.) They won't let him back into the herd: in effect, the herd has "sentries" posted that won't let him pass. Lek shared about this in a fairly recent video. Yindee is now only overseen by his ever-faithful older nanny Pornsawan, and I suppose Lek will be introducing him to the Bull section in the near future. Bulls develop a very independent mind, and in the Wild, set off on their own to pursue their future, sometimes meeting up with other bulls, but its a loose association, not a bonded one. At 8 years old now, he isn't a baby, and the herd now sees that.

baby boy Yindee 's mother , and all the nannies are all rescued elephants = from trekking csmps , hauling tree trunks weighing tons, or they hauled families of tourists on their boney , fragile, backs and pelvic area, all the nannie and momma were tortured as babies after being stolen from their mothers, the phajaan,, so these nannies do NOT forget, I think they still fear that baby Yindee could still be stolen and pajaaned, Of course it will never happen, But the elephants refuse to let down theri guard becos they love YINDEE< Im sure they tell him what happened to the.. YINDEE I S BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH DOTING< CODDLING < SMOTHERING< PAMEPERING NANNIES< and he knows it< and loves it all

Very funny to watch his attitude as he was corralled and brought home! Amazing cooperation between the girls.. (What happened to Yindee's left tusk?). That's the first time I've seen one of the elephants bang the end of their trunk on the ground, making a kind of echoing knock. I take it as an expression of annoyance at Yindee's exploits. Am I right?

The ENP's visitor's packet tells us that when an elephant hits the ground with their trunk, they are signaling that they feel worry, concern, that they sense danger, whether real or imagined.

I can relate the whole scenario towards some families in the olden days.. where a Mom calling out from far, the older kid got the message, trying to stop and bring back the younger sibling, but the younger ones will often throw tantrums and struggling hard to get away, they wants to continue playing, until the Mom dashing towards with a thick CANE. Haha. Elephants are so lovable.
