Wow that's crazy. Are they offering any addition compensation to replace the loss of all those benefits? That should be the case for sure! You sign a contract with the expectation that those benefits are included... if that changes you should get compensated in some other way. Good luck!!
Table tennis and hanging with friends is probably not in the contract.

That would be why I don't cruise. We land dwellers don't have to even wear masks. Unless but this is just my choice your on a bus.

Damn! The new restrictions really suck for crew members. While I understand trying to keep crew/guests physically healthy - these restrictions will make y’all mentally and emotionally sick! I hope they were lifted quickly and that you’re back to being able to enjoy socializing a bit more and being able to do more than just sleep/eat/work.

I'm going on my first cruise in 2 years can't wait. I understand you were unemployed for such a long time so good to see you back at work. I think all jobs are stressful at the moment and what you do making people enjoy their vacation is so important so I hope you can look after yourself as well.
It’s so frustrating that this is happening at the same time that many cruise lines are becoming much more lax with guests’ testing, masks, etc. and going back to closer to full capacity. Y’all are essentially getting the brunt of them wanting to create an experience where guests never think about giving covid to one another or crew members, and that’s not fair at all. I hope it continues to get better!
Those rules seem draconian. People in prisons have more freedom. I would rather be deprived of food than social interaction. I hope things return to normal soon. ❤️

I just got off Wonder as a passenger. To me it seemed chaotic and everyone seemed sick. Had a fun trip despite that but I think I’m ready to try some land based vacations.

Jordan, if you ever need to cheer yourself up, watch one of your videos playback at 1.5 speed! I had to whiz through this one and it was...entertaining! I didn't think you could buzz around any faster! LOL! Whew - stairs, gym, muster, wifi station, skating, all with a crappy head cold! I would have passed out when the movie started! I sincerely hope things for you guys have improved since May 22nd. And YAY, a mailing address! I wish I could mail you avocados.
Sorry for the restrictions, hopefully they don't last for very long. Love to see you skate. My wife and I just seen the ice show on the Liberty OTS late May, it seemed so intense. Really wanted to have a chance to meet some of the cast, seems Royal keeps that from happening and I can understand. Hopefully some day we will get a chance to see you perform in person and get a chance to meet you. You seem like a great person, but no matter we will be fans forever. God Bless

The mental stress is real! I can understand why the increase in restrictions for the crew. But my question is....what is the passenger's restrictions and/or safety requirements? I know many people who have canceled their cruises this summer thru the fall. I was supposed to sail in October but I have canceled because of the constant increase in Covid numbers and lack of restrictions. In my husband's words, "ships have become floating petrie dishes". We love cruising but we just don't feel like it's safe enough yet.
But I'm happy to see that you still have gym privileges and your free skate was amazing and beautiful! At least you have those 2 outlets! Please take care, continue doing what you're doing and keep smiling!

At least I’m glad you got to see Channing in Lost City, can’t wait to see that. He actually played me in a movie. Lol… that’s another story! So sorry for everything you had to go through but as it was a month ago, I’m hoping it is a little better now. Even many years ago when I was working ships we always called them “Floating Petri Dishes” because of how quickly everything spread. I can’t even imagine what it is like now. Then again, I’m such a huge introvert that covid policies haven’t really bothered me too much. Lol… stay in my room with all of my toys? Ok! In fact, today (June 22) I’m in NYC at the Moxy where the rooms are only slightly bigger than your cabin. I run out for food but that’s about it. Then again, I’m doing a show with Madonna, Violet Chachki, Bob the Drag Queen and La Ganja who are all great friends from past tours so that’s been fun. We rehearsed a few days in LA, then 2 days here, another rehearsal at the venue tonight then the show tomorrow. I just have one more show with Violet and Gotmik on Saturday then back to LA for a week. I hope things have been better on board. Take care and keep up that wonderful spirit!

Thank you for posting this! Your statements are all too relatable as i just finished my first contract on a ship and it was extremely difficult to navigate all the unpredictable regulations and changes for crew. I think this career has a lot more potential than what I experienced this last year. I tried to vlog the contract but I’m hoping my next ship allows more flexibility. You go girl!

I know they're small! I worked Covid ICU during most of the major waves & I 100% understand what you mean about watching the world around you go on with "normal" life. I’m glad you can get off the boat now what a frustrating time you had! They should of just had a list of the things you still could do would have been shorter!! I hope it doesn’t happen again and you can be free to get off the boat for the rest of your contract! Covid is unfortunately not going to go away and we’ll have to deal with it seems like forever! My sister-in-law just got it! Luckily she’s vaccinated so just like a bad cold!

Girl fuck what people think, I work in theme parks and know the struggle… I think it is screwed up that the cruise industry is being treated worst than any other transportation or traveling company. It’s ok to feel they way you do, while the executives are living their life they are being controlling to the cast which is not fair… I will NOT be traveling on Royal until the end of next year since my recent cruise sucked!!! The cast was so rude and now I know why!! Thank you for being honest about your feelings and now I understand why they cast was rude on my cruise. Keep your head up, it seems like it’s slowly getting better.

I totally get the stress. It’s not just the world moving on but you’re severely restricted and have no idea when it’s going to end. Add on top of that you’re living in a tiny room with no window. Glad it did have an end though!
Those restrictions are crazy, staff can't be held like prisoners.
I work in London, England and mask requirement has been re-introduced at my work due to a spike in cases. It must be hard to be on the ship and not have any freedom from it, I can go home and do whatever I want at home but you can't.

The one thing I cannot stand is when people think oh hey you work on a cruise ship your life you're living a glamorous life, in all honesty its far from that, a lot of people don't understand that as crew members we have a lot of strict rules that we have to follow. while I cannot imagine how you guys are copping on Voyager, I'm almost half way through my first contract on Navigator and we don't have have very many restrictions everything is still open for us.
