  • "After many years of being self-taught in the world of conducting, I felt the need to acquire a gesture and a technique that adapted to my physical characteristics and which expressed music in the most organic way possible, in which the gesture and the composer's ideas are as close as possible.
The first time I saw Maestro Nicotra, he was conducting the first movement of Mozart's
40th symphony. I had never seen anything as clear and evident with so little gesture. The
phrases, the ideas, the musical direction was so clear with minimal movement of the wrist, while the tempo of the violas was indicated with a minimal technical gesture that would later be known as "pulse". It was what I needed.
Maestro Nicotra, being one of Maestro Musin's main disciples, has great talent and
pedagogical ability, transmitting all his knowledge and experience to each student, adapting to the characteristics of each of his students and providing what is necessary for their maximum development.
Working with Maestro Nicotra is coming to understand how any repertoire should be conducted with an orchestra.
His humility and the values that he transmits to his students are remarkable. A true bond of friendship and camaraderie is created among his students that goes beyond meeting in our monthly classes in Milan or Palermo.
I always hear my classmates say, "the maestro changed my life", he makes us better
musicians, better instrumentalists, better conductors and above all the best people "
    Always grateful to you Maestro
