A local tree company dropped off my first load today. For free!!! They said they'll keep bringing it as long as I want it. Great stuff too. Not real big chunks or anything. I'm so glad I called them! They seem happy to get rid of it.

Keep doing it the way you are. I don't know if anyone else feels like I do. When I watch every video someone puts out, don't really know one another, but you kind of get the feeling of friendship. I know is weird. I live outside of a small town. There is nobody that has made a back to eden garden, besides me. I look for other peoples gardens when I'm driving.

Hi James, what I noticed about adding woodchip to strawberry plant they come up with large glossy leaves.
The self seeded lettuce looks amazing, I coppice my hazel nut bushes and use the sticks from it for kindling as I have a wood burning stove. This provides me with a lot of wood ash. This year I have been adding wood ash to the chicken coop where they have their dust bath then I gather all the scattered wood ash that is mixed with the chicken manure and add to my pot plants, as a result instant potash nitrogen fertiliser. When a little handful is added to any plant it means instant flowers and lush green leaves.
I love the weekly progress James I compare my garden to yours.

James, I like your blended style of videos, but really it's the passion for growing that I like. There aren't too many people around me that like to grow like I do, and I know of none who do the back to Eden, and none that have a food forest. I appreciate the work and time you take in shooting and editing the videos to bring us in to your forest.

I also started a "Back To Eden Method" garden about 4 to 5 years ago, so it's very interesting seeing what others like you are doing with wood chips and the results you are getting ; ) I also hear a lot of negative talk from people who think too many wood chips will be bad for your ground.... but, as I grow things in the wood chips and then even the same plant out in the yard with no wood chips.... it's such a big difference!! I grew a zucchini plant one year.... the same plant in two different spots, the one with no wood chips got up to my knee and had lots of zucchini... but, the one in lots of wood chips grew about 5 foot tall or more... the leaves were huge, the zucchini were huge, my husband took pictures and no one could believe it was a zucchini plant. It is hard work covering the ground with wood chips, but, worth it. I really enjoy seeing your videos. Keep up the good work!!

I know you are developed beyond where you are here, as I am binging your channel after the fact. But, you asked a good question, and I have a good idea, that I think you will enjoy.
I love Thatnub's videos of Paul Gauchi on his tours. He has super long videos with all details, and he cuts them down into a lot of shorter, more topically specific, areas. I think posting the whole tour is great, because I love watching them sometimes. I love the five to ten minute cuts of "talking about _______" or the other.
Of course, we agree, here in the desert of Tucson, Arizona, that all your channel really needs is ... wait for it ... you guessed it ... MORE TUCK!!!

I was going to ask for a tour of the greenhouse, then thought to check your videos. That first greenhouse video was your most inspirational for me, yet. When you explained how you had been salvaging and saving materials for years - that resonated with me. One of my goals is to spend as little money as possible on my gardening/food forest adventures. I am resigned to the fact that it will take a long time with many baby steps as I move forward. To see that you had a similar trajectory makes me happy and hopeful. I also loved your temporary greenhouse. That showed me that you don't have to wait for some big opportunity before you can move ahead with smaller, cheaper, but effective solutions. I don't think I'll ever have a big greenhouse, because my backyard is North of my house and isn't very big. But I can easily see myself creating some structures like your temporary greenhouses that could really help to extend the growing season for me. I'm a bit interested in your choice of using Red Solo cups. It seems to me that you may be wasting space and soil and that you could get away with a smaller container. I'm just wondering. You are thoughtful and deliberate in your choices so I imagine there may be a good reason I'm missing.

Love talking to locals about our gardens. Guess I am lucky to work at a barber shop in Bayville and especially love the old timers sharing their tips and tricks. God's creation is in full growth right now! Wow! It seems like yesterday you were still battling cold temps, and look at things now! James one of the things that some other channels do is what's called a 'walk thru' where they do a 30+ minute segment of the full food forest for the video. It's usually raw and uncut. Then they will do other videos that focus on a particular topic (which you do very well already). Both are great, and satisfy all us growers out there that love to see what you got growin' on brother! :)

You're my favorite channel to watch, because you are more real than the other gardeners out there. I had channels I loved watching but they sold out and started promoting things more and more. I love that it's you genuinely wanting to help educate and get people growing. In my area everyone lives off of fast food and thinks I'm insane. Even our family acts like were aliens. But I love it and would choose this life over mcdonals and clubbing anyday. Do you have any recommendations on pest prevention? I would live to see that. Squash bugs and tomato horn worms are my worst enemy here in NC zone 7b.

Responding to the end of your video: I’d like to see some videos that stay strictly on topic. This one could’ve been concise and to the point about the wood chips. Showing more of the soil, worms, results, etc. and leaving out the garden tour part. Then compliment that with some longer videos that are extended garden tours. But thanks for it all. I’m learning a lot from you and I hope to be getting some results like you in the coming years. Thanks!

Have you thought about keeping bees? If not honey bees maybe native bees? Also I noticed that you don't have many early flowers. I know you are growing food but feeding the pollinators increases yeilds.

I'm a new subscriber. I like this format for videos. I like long-form too. Maybe you could get a drone for wider angles and various perspectives. I enjoy hearing about what you read and study the most. Sounds like you're a believer. Your words resonate with my spirit. 😊

We are headed into heat days now, I know chard and kale are good all year round, what other vegies will grow well in the hot days of summer ? My spring grow is almost done..like bok choy, my gods I say they did amazing, my broc is biiig and green but nothing that looks like lil heads. My few peppers are banging. Tomatoes are doing ok. I fearfully covered my strawberries when the triple digits came..don't guess I needed to, yes? I have my cucumbers growing in an area that gets late morn and afternoon shade, they look good but growing a bit slow. Will bell pepers take the heat? I'm trying corn for the first time, these I know will take full sun. My favorite new discovery is Aunt Mollys ground cherries. What a kick! Got one the other day that tasted like pineapple coconut, one that tasted like pineapple-tommato, too much fun.
Bright Blessings for your day my friend..

I live in Lillooet BC, it is one of the hottest places in Canada. I have a problem with keeping moisture in the ground. I will get some woodchips from tree companies in the spring. Thank you for these amazing videos, keep up the good work.

Thank you for showing what your persimmon flowers looked like. I kept forgetting to look that up. Wasn't sure if mine was flowering or pushing out more leaves. Lots of flowers then. May be the first year for fruit then! :-D

like the currant format, but a long walk through once a week or so whenever things are happening to quick to cover in the normal show would be cool.
bought a new cherry shovel for my garden this year :-)

When we plant a garden, we get so much to eat, it saves us much money.
For the price of a few days meals, you can grow a few years worth of food.

I like all your videos. Maybe the ones where you show how you did a certain thing more. Like planting something or pruning. Oh I transplanted most of my strawberries to an area under my cherry tree. That opened up an area to plant peppers and Swiss chard. Still room for more veg. Thanks, I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own 👍😁
