    Lightning strikes (Θάρθεις σάν αστραπή)
Composed, arranged, produced & performed by Stamatis Spanoudakis
    Lyrics: Stamatis Spanoudakis
    Choir: Dionysis Apostolatos
    From the CD "Marble king"
Directed by Τasos Birsim at Herodus Atticus theater 1998
    Edited by Niikolas Economidis
LIGHTNING STRIKES (Translated by Ion Stamboulis)
    Lightning strikes when you're near
joy for all when you're here
earth and sea and all of the sky
    'neath your watchful eye
I will be dressed in white
just to hold you so tight
you're the light and I am the heart
    never shall we part
King of Kings, help the King, help the King
    Mercy, mercy Oh Heavenly Father
    Constantinos Dragatsis Paleologos
Emperor of Romans with the Grace of God,
    At-the-Saint Romanus gate
Gallantly riding his white leg-ged mare
Mercy, mercy for the four times "beta"
    Marmaras, Bosphorus and Black Tuesday
Shudder oh Sun, cry mother earth
The city has fallen, the city has fallen
The capital and the golden gate
And the purple-born at the Red Apple Tree
The city was the honest sword
    The city was the spear
The city was the secret key
    To all of Romania
    Patience dear Lady
    No need for tears
And be sure that when they're due
    They'll be yours again
From Romans gate you did go
where you went I don't know
an Angel will return with you
    when the time is due
In the church we will be
hand in hand you and me
joined in voices that shall be free
    together we will be

innosanto Because of some paradox games such as Europa universalis, lol. Chinese people treat Roman-Byzantine empire as an ancient power like theirs. So many Chinese feel pity that Byzantine can't survive to modern period.

Another reason is that China and Rome have a similar history, both were superpowers and both suffered aggression after decline, so the Chinese naturally have a special affection for Rome

It's a meme in China that people say they are "Spiritual Romans" and basically love everything about Roman Empire. Particularly when it comes to the topic about the Fall of Constantinople, we often say "精罗落泪"(Tears shed of the Spiritual Romans). Though such meme do comes with real emotions about history (there's a reason none of us tears for the Turks). China and Roman Empire sort of shares the same pattern of history. While Constantinople fell in 1453, our Ming Empire fell in 1644 and also led to catastrophic results. We really do understand the same grief with the Greeks.
