    do you have a breakdown of how and why you choose the loading wall size? i am starting a 4th order build for an old skool spl challenge and want to get the best spl result for what i have.

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před 3 lety +1

      Every cabin and build is different so no one answer. I start always around 75-90% cone area for port to shrink. Bigger ratios that are peaky should even be bigger then that at times I’ve learned.

    thanks ive been wandering about that and couldn't find anyone willing to explain it i have a 6 15s that I've been waiting to go 4th order with and just didn't have enough info the box I run now will only kill the lows but not the upper end say 60 and upso time for a redesign

      Hi, Iam interested have you tried ported vs bandpass 6th or 4th order? Wich is better for low hertz like 25-35hz

    Curious, when measuring say 25" of port length, would you measure in the middle of the port or from one edge to another Jacob? Also thanks for the info bout the sealed vs ported

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před 3 lety +1

      Port length goes based on the center of port for length and same for ports that have multiple turns.

    I'm running a sp4 v1 12 in a 3 to 1 4th powered by a w 4500. My sealed section was 1.5 and I couldn't play lows very well, I shrunk it to 1.1 and the lows got better but there still falling off around 27 hz might try shrinking ported from 3 cubes to 2.5. Portef tuned to 45

    Isit worth sound deadning a normal ported box from inside?

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před měsícem +1

      if leaky yes, also could adjust the frequency response slightly and afew tenths of db louder potentially.

  • @lassediscovers1813
    @lassediscovers1813 Před 3 lety

    The bottom of the sealed section should be where the plexiglass is. Then the box would have a more "horn" effect. High peaks but not so musical tho.. it chould gain a whole db

  • @hellbillywv5724
    @hellbillywv5724 Před 2 lety

    Great video but I’m wondering why 5.8 to 1? I’ve heard of up to 3 to 1 but people say they are sloppy and peaky. I want to have a decent band width because I listen to a variety of music and want to build a 4th order for a SQ HDC3 12 that I have. Space isn’t an issue it’s for an Astro van.

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před 2 lety +1

      I had the space and I always love atleast 4-5:1 ratio for a high loud peak to make it a lot louder for the power then most systems comparable. This build did a 156db+ on glass.

      Yes that is called negative ratio 4th and usually results in louder lows

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před 3 lety +2

      Depends on the enclosure but in general I would always say rated power clamped in the correct built enclosure. Some people have thrown over 2k to them while others under 1k with no issues just how the enclosure routes for the sub.

    If you put polyfill in the sealed section will it make a difference in performance

    • @JacobViral2
      @JacobViral2  Před 3 lety +1

      It can help act as a slightly bigger enclosure and bring more low end response as the waves travel slower but overall I never had an interest or gain from it.
