I taught Maris Valainis for two years at Bishop Chatard in Indianapolis. He was only about 5'6" in high school. He was an all-state golfer, but ironically, never played basketball. He was a great kid, and it was so much fun to see him in Hoosiers.

Too busy looking at their phones. Probably half the crowd has never seen this classic.
Because those folks are actors and not members of the actual Hickory team. Seems like the crown can discern reality from virtual reality.

More people have a connection to that movie and those actors than the actual players themselves.
Do you not realize that people like actors and the work they do? That would be like if you expected no one to care for Chris Hemsworth because he isn't actually Thor, God of Thunder.

@@Demarini71691 Actors are people who pretend to be people who they aren't. I'll admit the Hoosier story was a great story, but the actors pale in comparison to the real people.
@@robertwieland5958your argument is weak. The movie is a classic based on a true story in Indiana. I doubt anyone from the original team is still around or that the fans would know anything about it.

The best all time basketball movie. The coach is a winner like Bilardo the former Argentina National team in 1986.

Gene Hackman is 94. Saw a picture of him and one of Clint Eastwood recently. Both look like they are near the end.

Sad that the crowd barely recognized them with applause. But if the average person in the arena was under thirty, they were staring at their cell dumb phone or texting in a group chat "I'm watching the team from the movie Hoosiers." Friends responding "What movie?"
