The Dark Knight Rises - Prison Escape (fan re-cut)

- I made a small re-cut of this scene, because I was expecting more along the lines of this (at least in some shape or form) when I first saw it. It adds something I personally miss in the original scene. I was also fairly annoyed by the constant shots of the prisoners chanting so I took a few of those out. (The video got converted a little dark, sorry about that.)

This scene (and even more so the way you put it together with the clips from Bruce's life) is everything when it comes to the story of Bruce Wayne/Batman. It tells his entire story, his motivation, his failures & his successes all in one amazing scene. Bruce fell to despair & rose again. That's why we fall. So we can pick ourselves up. TDKT will never be topped. Never.
I like this version a lot better than the original. I think it shows Bruce not only climbing out of Bane's Pit, but also climbing out the pit of all the despair and sorrow he's held inside all those years. It shows that he's finally come to terms with the deaths of the people he couldn't save (his parents, Rachel, and Harvey).
One of my favorite parts of this scene has always been when Bruce throws the rope down to the other prisoners so they too can *rise* & escape like he did.
At 2:07 when Bruce looks up at the bats I think you should've added the flashback of young Bruce in the well in Wayne Manor when the bats from the Batcave surround him and fly over him, making a circle around the circumference of the well. It's in Batman Begins.
You’re probably right! I don’t remember if I considered it back then.
this was really cool, thanks for uploading this
Wow, this is genuinely better than the scene from the movie. Much more emotionally potent. Well done!
logicalfallacy234 Thank you very much! I'm glad it came across to you!:)
Genuinely this is something I had expected Nolan to do. And for 2face he in fact did put in some flashbacks. So I was baffled he didn't do it here.
Yeah its baffingly to me in hindsight too, since now that I think of it, Nolan loves to use flashbacks in scenes. Most of his movies use flashbacks in key scenes like this. And yeah man, do you actually do stuff like this for a living or something? You're incredibly good at this stuff (editing, music editing.)
logicalfallacy234 Yeah Nolan is even slightly known for it.
Wow thank you, no I don't do this at all professionally. I've always wanted to and I am a long time musician and a massive movie fan. In 2011 I started playing around with iMovie and soon after Final Cut. Final Cut turned out to be a program I could work in very comfortably so I just started doing stuff for fun. I recut all star wars prequels down to one film for example, just for fun. I also make all my music mixes in final cut funny enough (as perhaps any pro music mixer can hear).
I'd certainly like to do this for a living. I think because my main instrument is drums and I'm academically schooled I have a feel for rhythm and structure.
Thanks for the very supportive comment and glad you liked my edit!
Silrian777 You edited the prequels into one movie?!?! I've been thinking of how that would work actually!! Could you send that in an email or something? I need to watch that. And anytime man, I love your channel. I might try to get into the movie business in a few years, one of my pipe dreams really, and if I make it in some sense, I know who to talk to for editing :)
logicalfallacy234 Ha wow that's very nice of you! I better start upping my game then.;)
Uh if you're interested in seeing it PM me a link (you should be able to message me on my channel). I also didn't know whow to go about it haha. All I knew is that I needed a boatload of material so that I could practice and as a huge star wars fan this seemed a good project. I worked on it on and of for 1,5 years, the worst frustration being that I started before I could edit HD and ergo have no HD version (cause I'd need to start ALL over again and that's a massive amount of work and also tech facilities needed). But yeah I went through like 10 totally different openings for example lol.
I haven't been able to work on this stuff for a while now so my edit got stuck at what I broadly call 'Rise of the Sith Draft 9'. It's a more adult and drama oriented cut. I seem to be one of the few people that truly appreciated the dramatic and political arc in the films surrounding Anakin and Palpatine so. Ultimately the playtime is roughly cut in half, most of all the kiddy shit is removed, but quite a bunch of action was removed too so I'd definitely say it's too slowly paced for children.
It did however garner me more respect for the prequels in terms of story, without droids acting like 10 year olds you start to feel the grimness of the story truly, and imo Hayden's performance fits better as well. It's really a terrible tragedy how he's consumed by fear of loss.
So yeah, long reply haha, PM me if you wanna see it! Thanks.
Whoa. I got goosebumps. Very good!
Awesome re-cut man! Thank you for this! :) God bless!
Thanks!
Thanks! I hope I don't get into trouble by uploading this. I once uploaded a movie scene on my previous channel and I got bitchslapped hard for it by YT. But that one was completely unaltered, so I guess I had that coming.
That's pretty much exactly what I meant to convey with this. I still think it's in the original scene as well, at least that's how I interpret the story. But I hoped to actually see it.
Apart from Rachel/Harvey, I also put the coin in because I noticed that, unlike Harvey, Batman turns the coin from scarred, to unscarred. Which imo symbolizes what he's doing here. The Dark Knight Rises...
Anyway, glad you like it.
I really love your editing❤
Thanks!
It would’ve been better if he heard his dad’s last words “Bruce… don’t be afraid” before he jumped.
Thanks!:D
Thanks!:D Wow yeah, guess me too but, honestly I hope I don't want to do anything with it.;) Not gonna lie, I got high hopes for that film.
nice
