About Dead End Hip Hop:
No scripts. It's pure unfiltered hip hop conversations and album reviews. No politics. No BS. We Are The People.
I’m not about to listen to 2 hours of a new Game album. But if DEHH released a 2 hour review, im pressing play the minute it’s uploaded
Crazy how that works right? Lol I’m right with you
That part😂😂
W statement
Nah the album was dope but I try to listen to everything
I love The Game.
But his provocative behavior left a sour taste in my mouth.
It’s been a week and I’ve still not made it through this album 😭 here for the review though. Getting to a point where I enjoy these more than most albums
Drillmatic was decent it wasn’t trash but decent at best.
It was way too many tracks on it though that’s for sure.
@@bigjohnboatright3811 Why? Why does yhe length matter?
What you mean why does length matter? 😂
Because 2hrs is a long ass time to be sitting down to listen to one album.
People have very short attention spans so when you put out a project with 30 song’s.
It has to be able to keep your attention plus not to mention it was way too many features on it as well.
@@DefSquadFan The same reason movies aren't 5 hours long.
length matters because people have add
Beezy saw the album was 2 hours and was like 'y'all can catch me on the next one' haha
Who knew poor lil Jayceon had to walk 8 miles to get M&Ms 🥲
It’s really an indictment against American infrastructure.
I'm gonna be honest, I used to love the Game. However, his behavior has been so questionable that it turned me off from listening to this.
No cap I played the docs avócate religiously back in day
He was one of my favorite rappers back in the day and I think his catalogue has been pretty consistent with some ups and downs, but I agree. There's a lot of great rappers that never had a "peak" but have been consistent. Hearing this stuff Game's doing just feels too old at this point.
He can Rap
@@chaelmavik you dint listen to the album
Blacc Sam made Game remove that Nipsey song because he said that he didn't like how Game stands next someone like Wack 100, who constantly shits on his brother, so he said take that shit off.
Yeah Wack like a off brand Irv Gotti and Damon Dash with way less success
Even with my favorite artists ... It's got to be immaculate sequencing for me to rock for 2 hours w/o skipping around. But with your favorite artists, you'll skip around and play it often enough to get into different songs as your mood shifts. Casual listener is just gonna go on to the next one.
Exactly
Yup
The album had potential to be great…but 2 hours is too long for this project. Def has some skips, but there’s some great tracks on here.
My thoughts exactly.
Which are the best
Yea I’m with Myke. I enjoy listening to Lupe’s long albums like Tetsuo or Drogas because those albums are heavy conceptual. I’m not the type of listener that skips around/let’s shit play in the background. Either I’m listening or I’m not
The last thing I've ever listened to from Game was when he said "My world turned dark like staring through Stevie Wonders glasses" I was done at that point I didn't care to hear anything else from him. And the only thing I bump with him on it is Hate it or Love it and This is How We Do.. I can't get into that shit. Not when Growing up onLupe Fiasco and Black Thought..
The game was my favourite rapper then i actually started listening to rap
My favourite is Lupe ever since.
@@moustafamahgoub1064 lupe is another level from the game
@@spinningbackkick6021 lupe n thought is aliens compared 2 the game
The game said Eminem isn’t a top 5 rapper, but he literally tweeted months ago that Eminem was in his top 5 😵💫 the game has always shouted out Eminem and gave praise to him “you don’t mess with the white boy”. He is clearly attention seeking right now, he has a lot of money troubles going on. He needs Eminem to respond.
@@davidrobinson911 facts
@@davidrobinson911 I think he should deff respond. He responded to everyone else. The Game is actually a really good rapper so it would be a nice challenge for Em.
@@Shaolinmike1994 Everyone else? He didn't respond to Cannon...
@@madderthanever really lol. He shitted on cannon so many times. No way he was responding to cannons weak ass songs. Literally everyone bullied nick after those tracks released. They had more dislikes than likes. After “lord above” he didn’t need to respond to nick.
Saying someone is in your top 5 does not mean a person is or isn't in the top 5 of all time. "He has a lot of money troubles" like you know him personally. FOH
The black slim shady gotta be a Top 10 corniest rap song of all time. Not a big Em Fan btw, before y’all assume
Nah you ever hear an Eminem diss track. 🤣
@@akeemMagic01 the ones towards Ja rule some the greatest diss tracks all time
Killshot was corny too
Em have a lot of corny songs too.
@@djb.8507 that’s obvious, I’m talking diss tracks. Em never road someone’s Dick for 10 minutes
To Feefo’s point. He let go of the YB song because he couldn’t pay him 50%
There’s loads of articles saying that. Feefo knows he is trying to act like smart detective again
I give DEHH props for remembering alot these songs.
Damn miss the 2015 Game, doc 2+2.5 really underrated
Facts Game in 2015 gave us back to back classic albums with that.
I think Game was in his prime when Doc 2 and 2.5 came out...classics!
@@justinbond1983 agreed💯💯
@@bigjohnboatright3811 very
The Game no longer has a sound... Nothing to peak interest, 15-20 Songs too long, reliant on features, this is the end.
This is the end? Been the end for him over a decade ago
@@Sky_Blaze disagree
Shoutout Hitboy for enduring the probably exhausting proccess of creating a GAME album with 100 tracks. Shit sounds like the quest of Sisyphos.
I am not against long albums, in fact i prefer them. but when songs feel like filler as oppose to a story and theme being presented, then length can be a problem. but there are short albums that suck just as bad as long albums. so what it comes down to is content, theme, and being creative
I think he tried to go for too many different sounds and it ends up sounding disjointed.
@@SolidSnake240 i agree. there were some good tracks. but i felt born 2 rap was a way better album and had depth and emotion, which i felt this project lacked
@@brooklynmedina7676 facts
@@brooklynmedina7676 Yeah I don't think there is a such thing as Filler when you make an album that length. Filler is for short albums.
Honestly this album was dam good I only took off 6 songs and the length did not seem that long and I listened 3times but the game has always been my top 10 artist really don’t drop bad albums at all
That’s facts
This album is the perfect example why I dislike Game, he’s a good rapper who camouflages into everyone he features and that has always bothered me.
Facts
That's why I refuse to listen to him
Black Slim Shady 🤣 That's Eminem with out the ability of comaflouge.
“Ali Bomaye” perfect representation
@@KennyChika That song still dope though. 🔥
Yall better review the Black Thought album or im going to have some questions of my favorite hip hop show
That was a good Wayne verse. Every song doesn’t have to have this super technicality to it. Wayne is dope because he’s dope at multiple flows. That is the reason why he can rap to any song
If it didn't feel like a filler, then 30 songs should be no problem. Pac dropped a long a$$ album with All eyez on me and Biggie did it with Life after death and everyone was blessed for all the great tunes they gave us. So I dont think we can complain when someone is giving us soo much music that aint even bad. Great album, I didn't enjoy the diss tho.
Rod needs to hear the podcast with Game on Drink Champs. He just sounded really out of the loop.
Hope y'all do a review for Larry June, Spaceships on the Blade is his most complete body of work. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on that project.
Yea, Larry June is nice 💯
Nah. Any of those cult following type rappers they don't touch.
@@moballardful wym I think at least 2 of them like Larry and they reviewed Sadistik before lol
@@moballardful he’s right though, they don’t review unless they personally like them or they’re a cant miss mainstream artist

Love these guys but I miss the old setting of no mics just chilling on the lounge chairs idk why that 2015-2018 era of DEHH
No spoilers but be sure you stick around☀
i was excited for the album until The Game started coming at Em for no reason and thats when I knew The Game was gonna not be at top tier The Game mode
He needs the attention. He’s going through money problems
Man, i'm an old school guy, but I've been infected with this millennial attention span. A 10 minutes diss track , and 30 songs on the album!!! I just don't have the patience no more
It's not the age, for an album to hold your attention for 2h, it needs to be special special
Millennial
Naw even 30 songs was too long in the 90s.
Game couldn't do in 10mn, what Pusha T did in 3mn10...
The nipsey hussle song is blacked out because wack100 was disrespectful to nipsey hussles passing..so nipsey hussles team told game to remove the song.
Wack100 whose Game's manager 🤦♂
That man is always shooting his mouth off and saying dumb shit at times, older than The Game himself and supposed to be an OG. I don't know why Game is associating himself with a guy that costing him business like that. Game's last track with Nipsey Hussle on his last album was a near damn classic and I would like to listen to his final track with Nipsey Hustle on this new album.
What an endurance test this album was. To me this album is on par with the red album and the documentary 2. Well, the weaker of the three. He has always been a feature chameleon. What he need to do was cut the album in half. Have it solely produced by hitboy, and pick the best (not many sadly but outta 30 songs?) Bars, condense it then it would of been way better. 5/10 for me.
The documentary 2 had structure and variety. This album was a whole bunch of rap songs with decent beats and good rhyming. With an album called drillmatic I was expecting it to be at least in his top 3 albums conversation.
gotta say, great name
@@topbackpodcast2615 high expectations for game. He will never top his debut album. I knew this was gonna be all over the place.
Fav songs on the project?
Home invasion, stupid, la la land, the one with yg and the one with jerimih no smoke in the polo lounge
This album is fucking fireeee
Facts
Game about to have Hopsin numbers with this album. 😂
30 songs and 2hrs would be to much from my favorite rapper let alone Game who I’ve found stale for about a decade. He raps well and has joints always just don’t care for whole projects anymore
exactly, his content is still stuck in 2005...minus the hunger & consistency.
1992, Documentary 2 and Born Too Rap... no way in hell you listened too these 3 Albums and thought game was stale... he has been putting out some pretty good albums in the last decade
@@DIRTYSOUTHSHINOBI I'll agree that 1992 and Doc 2 are actually pretty good.
@@ThatGuy-ky2yf Born 2 Rap was fire. People just slept on it because the album cover is atrocious and it’s long
Long albums aren't a problem for artists like game. Like they said, no fillers. This album is crazy and will only get better with time
Drillmatic - Album of The Year
The album is long but it is a very good album and one of the best album this year so far. But agree that if he had cut the album to 17/20 song it would have been a great album.
To me this is easily Game's worst album almost all of them songs I thought it was forgettable and boring I only liked 3 songs overall

Game couldn't do in 10mn, what Pusha T did in 3mn10...
Game could'nt do in 2 hours, what Black Thought and Danger Mouse did in 38mn...
the em diss felt very corny to me cause it just smelled like attention seeking, plus the fact em gonna outsell him without any new songs tho lol
Who cares about album sells I like game and em I want to see them battle the selling albums excuse is lame
Difference with a podcast is it's a conversation. Those lend themselves to long form, on top of the fact that's a long form medium. This is a very atypical length for a modern album, and it's not very conceptually cohesive on top of that. Judging by the commercial performance, Game made the best album no one wants to listen to at best.
This almost an hour long, this finna be good
I refuse to listen to this 2 hour album. Just can't. Black slim shady turnt me all the way off.. but ima watch this tho and get the gist of it
Gotta do Black Thought & Danger Mouse's album Cheat Codes 🔥🔥
Too much filler, too much sample jacking, too many features, his thoughts process is all over the place and contradictory, unneeded drama, delayed multiple times. All in all, sounds like a typical game project.
Cheat codes annihilates this in every way.
He came out swinging with the first track. Then it got tedious after that 10 minute Em diss.
I'm only here for the slander. This is not a good album and I know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I listened here and there once and I won't be going back.
While most people are hurt because the really light shoots Game through to EM. Your favorite rapper's favorite rapper mess with Game.
Been waiting on this one! 🔥
I bought his last album on itunes despite it being long as well. This however, I feel is his weakest double or triple album, though it has some joints and lyrics, I don't have a strong replay value feeling like his last two double albums. I might replay it for which songs I want on a playlist but not because I really enjoyed it. That Easy song is on a playlist called start the day on Spotify.
I want to challenge you on the podcast comparison. Podcasts are really straight forward and there is not much to analize, just listen to it and you get the picture. Music, you gotta read between the lines, you gotta analize and shit
Waiting on the day Mike takes that damn mask off🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
This album was way too long - Game was rapping well, but we didn't need 2 hours of it.
Less features and more cohesive album structure was needed.
No album needs to be 2 hours long.
Game is a good ass rapper - but can we really call him a great lyricist given he's used ghost writers?
@Ali Chaudhry - You know more about Game using ghost writers than Rass Kass? Interesting...
Nevermind 50 literally giving him songs for his most popular album The Documentary.
Oh and Kanye is well documented as using ghost writers.
making 2 hour long albums for the profit boys. Get that streaming money!
Myke the Kid C Town and the boys back again!! 💯
Yea highlight myke for using the word... “decrepit”
30 tracks is too much for this album since its over two hours long. It got some bangers and some duds on there as well. Decent album but not as good as The Documentary 2
Y’all remember when tyga and Lil durk had rap beef. And The game got on tyga response.
Yeah and got smoke by G Count for being out of pocket. Game is a clown. He should be doing much better but he gets in his own way. I genuinely believe he has mental issues. PTSD most likely.

Was the whole album just Game doing his own renditions of classic songs or are there any standout songs where he rhymes over more original production?
Hip hop is about sampling bro, What original song have u heard lately?
@@jackcees859 thanks genius, I’m aware of that. However, there are more creative ways to sample and Hit-Boy was taking a bunch of classic hip-hop beats and throwing trap drums over them. Are there any songs on this album where he actually flips the samples differently instead of banking on cheap nostalgia?

Game always uses a ton of samples, dude with the beard was right.
Game NEVER gets charged for features.
An album with no theme is an mixtape no matter the quantity of tracks, imo. Is there an coherent theme throughout this project?
Yes. I disagree with them. It's the blending of Drill and 90s style hip hop. Hence drillmatic. He was once considered the Westcoast Nas. People scared of that Shady white ball. Game is basically an indy artist. He's winning. And they calling it a flop. 🤣
@@akeemMagic01 just ain't a great project
A album does not need a damn theme too be a good album.. plenty of classic albums out there with no theme too it.. as long as it has replay value a theme is not necessary just make good music
@@DIRTYSOUTHSHINOBI I was too broad you right. I place albums up there with movies and novels which don’t have to be epic to be titled as such. Whatever the technicalities are I don’t consider a project an album unless it’s got cinematic aspects. I like intros, interludes, feature outros all that contribute to the artist’s vision. The tracks don’t have to reference each other bluntly but I’m looking for something to keep me immersed. Voice inflection, alter ego peek-a-boo, a snippet from some other body of work that was ambiguous but not brings clarity. That’s just the connotation I hold with albums despite them being a selling unit essentially.
I feel rod about the moving thing. I feel the same about Jack Harlow's new album. That's my favorite album to listen to when I go run errands. It's just great background music and it's good enough that I can bob my head to it and just have something on so I don't have to think about what's next on the queue. But to actually sit and appreciate it by itself, I could never 😭😭
Black Slim Shady reminded me of Jay-Zs

That Em track was one of the most desperate sounding things I've heard in music recently. That track was terrible.
Love y'all channel
Game did a bloated 2 hr album with little to say and then it sounds even worse when you compare it to the Danger mouse/black thought cool 38 min album with A LOT to say.
Hi guys nice review always a fan. Just a suggestion with the background instrumental the bass hits imo are kind of distracting listening to this review on headphones. Imo I would suggest a lighter instrumental or just keep it to the audio of you guys talking. Overall cool review though.
Games Subject matter is tired !
been tired 10 years ago.
I was born in 94 I first listened to 2Pac then it was 50 Cent and then 50 Cent introduced me to the game and from there I liked the game more than anybody else and til this day I stick up for him. DrillMatic is definitely not his best album - I still think Game is a top MC and deserves more credit but it’s been hard sticking up for my boy lately not gonna lie. Black Slim Shady was hard but album overall was aight
Black slim shady wouldve been better had he kept it from taking direct shots. It exposed game badly and when you add his antics recently, i really wonder if hes ok mentally. Alot of what hes doing makes no sense. He should be up there with Em and dre making music but he continues to dig a hole by being bi polar. A game and em record would be insane. Which i have a suspicion is going to happen. That first half of the song shows hes a big eminem fan. Alot of what he said and copied is deep in his catalogue.
Once I saw the tracklisting, too many tracks for me. And.i was actually intrigued for a game project
41:53 THANK YOU MYKE. It’s the only song I double back to on this album.
Especially since the songs aren't really used to push a certain narrative or concept I truly don't see why 30 songs with a runtime of nearly 2 hr is necessary.
The sad part of World Tours. Is that it’s a great song. I have bc I got the album day one. So it’s on my iPhone before they took it off
I've listened to this album front to back many times now, and it's impressive. It actually puts guys like Drake to shame for dropping double albums and putting everyone to sleep. Game hits the perfect balance between stellar production, decent hooks, large variety of sounds, solid verses, and solid features. The only one who phoned it in was Drake, very literally. Maybe other people's tastes are different, but I think writing this off because its 2 hours is lazy. You can very easily pull 15 strong tracks out of the 30 if you want which usually doesn't happen with this much material.
This is how my thought process went too. I didn’t even hate the Drake albums. But Game produced an album that, I felt, was pretty essential for the rap at this point in its progression. I thoroughly enjoyed the album
what you'll talking about wayne did miss these radio auto-tuned up stuff but WAyne spazz on good produced things recently, The Root of All DJ premier
The whole Nipsey track being omitted from the album made me happy. I know Game and Nipsey had a relationship that goes back, but I always found it very fake of Game to rep Nipsey so hard AFTER he passed away. When he was alive, Game never even thought of bringing Nipsey on to feature on ANY of his past albums. But ever since he passed, Game goes out of his way to get a posthumous feature on Born 2 Rap and now this album……..maybe it’s just me but Game clout chases a little bit.
Game dis have a track on oke with same hoes but fair
A little bit? He has a PhD in clout chasing
So you missed all the songs Nipsey and game did together hella songs before this man passed

Is there a different version of the album ya got cause Opp w Youngboy ain’t on any version you can currently look up? It was going around that Game couldn’t afford the YB feature and the song was taking off which I thought ya was gone bring up when discussing how expensive the album must’ve been.

This album should have been cut in half, specially some of those feature tracks
This album was damn good IMHO! I don't mind a longer album (even 30+ tracks) simply because I'm not obligated to listen to EVERY track all at once. You can break them down and pick your favorites. Lol. The Game is EASILY the best "Heel" in hip hop today. Lol
(if not of all time). ☺. Thanks for ACTUALLY talking about and analyzing the album instead of just talking about "The Black Slim Shady" and endlessly harping on how many tracks, endless harps on features, and name drops. Personally I LOVE features simply because I've always enjoyed collabs WAY more than "disses" and seeing so many different artists (across different generations) is fantastic! Unfortunately that is also EXTREMELY rare in "modern" hip hop so salute to The Game for bringing so many different artists together. The Game is clearly a hip hop super fan and his music has always reflected that. Thanks again DEHH! ☺
Great review guys like always but how no one mention the voo doo track! I thought it was 🔥
When 2Chainz started his verse I really thought that was Hov
I think the title Drillmatic is reflected in the albums entirety. Drill as in the new drill wave and illmatic as in the golden age. He’s using his style mixed with the second golden era and the drill era. The mind of the old age with the head of the new age. I can’t see them coming down my eyes so I make somebody son cry. That verse encapsulates the mind of the youth and where their hearts are
Been waiting for this one

Really looked forward to this one made my Monday 🔥
Is Rod gonna admit that he hates Eminem at some point? No way he truly believes that was a good diss
Conceptionally it is good. In practice it fell flat. Had he left out the first part it wouldve been somewhat manageable. Problem is its hard to come up with stuff when you have no real beef. Everything he said is conjecture or a lie and the people saw through it. Those who love it are the worst type of people. They want to believe its good so bad they allow a good artist like game put something so bad out and try to justify it. He can do way better.
