    Gunwerks rifles are just a cut above the rest and this muzzleloader rifle shows it. I know what my family is buying me for Christmas this year..

    Plan on trying them out in a savage ml2 smokeless 45 cal

    I didn’t have any luck with this power belt, You guys should try Arrowhead rifle bullets. They shoot great out of my muzzle loader.

    How much those bullets weigh? I used to use a .44 cal bullets in my .50 cal muzzle leader inside a sabot. It worked very good with 90 grains of pyrodex. So what " saboted pistol bullet will work in my .45 cal muzzle leader? Any body out there use that type of set up?

    Didn't Gunwerks use a silver tip 45 cal muzzleloader bullet prior to the powerbelt ELR

    • @Gunwerks
      @Gunwerks  Před 4 lety

      Yes. We still use a Parker Match/Hunter for our sabot rounds.

  • @MegaBoogedy

    Nice The ELR shoots great on paper but completely fragments when hitting game. Hopefully, another company will produce a muzzleloading bullet with a high ballistic coefficient that doesn’t break apart upon impact like the ELR.

      Not a bad thing if you dont hit hard bone. Lung shots must be devistating

      I want a bullet that works well no matter where it hits. Most bullets work well with well placed shots. It's the bad hits that define whether a bullet is good or not. @@draconian6692

    How far can you ethically reach out to with this new configuration.

    • @Gunwerks
      @Gunwerks  Před 4 lety +2

      That's going to be up to the shooter, but likely getting out to 600 yards on some game with this new combination.

    Trends now going to .45's shooting sabotless , faster twist barrels, muzzle brakes, large rifle magnum primers inside brass case /primer module for ignition, all stuff the smokeless guys have been doing for over a decade now.

      Shooting a full size bullet is great but powerbelts are a fragmenting self defense round.. I will take a mostly lead free 45.cal bullet in a 50 cal sabot before shooting powerbelts at deer… sure they are great at loading and reloading but to be honest follow up shot are few and far between when shooting a “eco friendly bullet”

    What bullets does Gunwerks run in their 45 cal muzzleloader and are they sabotless

    • @Gunwerks

      We're currently running a Powerbelt ELR muzzleloader bullet. Yes, it is sabotless.

    Interesting that you have to specify sabot-less these days when talking about muzzleloaders. (and that is pronounced SAY-BOW or SAY-BOO, French for shoe) 25 years ago when sabots were making their entry into muzzleloading, you had to specify that it was a saboted round. Funny how things change....

    I have doing this a long time , never once , not once , did I ever have a sabot stick in the brake , those cups non those bullets are essentially sabots and do degrade performance. You are way way better off to size bullets , it takes no time, isn't hard at all to do .you guys just copied remingtons ignition.
