Vexing Bauble can counter 0 cost artifact spells (crypts/orbs/mox/ornithopter, etc), guess im a stax player now.

That Kozilek doesn't feel AT ALL like an Eldrazi card. it actually feel like one of thos colorless spirit naga cards tied to Ugin that are about manifesting, but they decided last second to tag it as eldrazi and surf on the titans name to sell the card.
Manifest as a mechanic doesn't synergize at all with the Eldrazi's that have often big on cast or ETB effects.
They couldn't even give him a symbolic annihilator 1 to make its flavor match its name a bit more.
Agreed, not a fan of this incarnation. luckily we have his other 2 to fall back on.
Plage is like the incarnation of a forest fire. Initially it bring devastation, but in the aftermath of that devastation the nutrients of the ashes and the clearing of old and dead/dying life makes room for new life.
Kozi reads up to 2 players EACH manifest so you and your opponent both manifest 2 cards then you draw 4 cards
up 2 means that you can choose just one player

Something I think you missed on Kozilek is its not "manifest up to 2" it forces each player to manifest 2. It's almost like discard in exchange for 2/2s while you also draw. 2/2s are not very useful but giving chump blockers for your 9/9 is a relevant drawback, but it can be combo'd with Kozilek's Return which will also trigger on cast to boardwipe, discard, and draw cards which is a pretty big swing for any deck that can manage it. Despite that, I think the other eldrazi simply outclass it, so doubt it will see modern/legacy play.
Phage means "eater" in Greek. Phlage is derived from "flame" and again, in Greek means "fire".

Kozilek is busted. You draw 4 cards, get a 9/9 and 2 5/4s on the battlefield, while your opponent is down 2 cards and gets 2 2/2s as compensation. The important thing is that your opponent HAS to manifest 2 cards if you choose them, so it can potentially take out their removal spell or send them back in terms of tempo.
Plus, a Underworld god like Uro can be manifested for just 3Mana and would NOT be sacrificed, since its not etbing.

Plage goes infinite with Adarkar Valkyrie equipped with Thornbitr Staff (or just Breath keeper Seraph, which make all of this slow and not flashy / instant-win )
Okay, if leaks are real, we may have two new Eldrazi Titans.
I would love that as it gives evidence of Eldrazi being more than just three Titans. Aĺso can say we could see how titans could reproduce.
I don’t titans can reproduce bc of their mere size. They are just a finger nail we don’t know if the titans are all 1 being. 2 titans would have to be close to each other not be going for mana ( which is their purpose) and have no one hunting them
Arena of Glory can give two creature haste..if u use the two mana to cast two creature....

Of note with Arena of Glory, just like with Generator Servant before it, you don't have to spend both mana on a creature spell to give it haste. You can split the mana one-each between two spells and give TWO creatures haste.

Kozilek is, at BARE MINIMUM, 19/17 P/T across three bodies for 9 mana, AND you draw two cards. That's without even accounting for WHAT you're Manifesting, nor the situations where you choose to Mind Rot the opponent and draw two EXTRA cards.
Kozilek's cracked on value alone.
That vexing bauble will probably be the most meta defining card of the set.
Copy, cascade, storm, and every other "play without paying its mana cost" cards have been going rampant for a while (especially in commander) and needed to be reigned down in some way.
Incorrect copying which is what storm does is unaffected by the new bauble. It stops cascade and spells like force of will and force of negation
@@prowl79 True for the copying; But then again copying spell is by far the least present important thing compared to the rest.
If you copy a spell already on the stack, you are not casting it technically, so Vexing Bauble does nothing.
If you cast, say, Grapeshot for free, the original will be countered, then the storm ability will resolve and copy Graleshot as normal.
However, it does stop stuff like Mizzix Mastery, because they copy *cards* and then *cast* the copies.
This set was the middle ground for me in terms of power creep:
There are some good powercreep cards like the panorama cycle lands, Some retraining of the old creature cards that became Ekdrazi.
Then there are the cards that make you go WTF like the new Eldrazi Titans, some of the new legends, The broodscale card, etc. and now you have more ways to combo out...
For me there is too much going on in this set. Literally every mechanic from the last like six sets is in here. Connive, manifest, escape...there doesnt seem to be any real uniqueness too it minus the Eldrazi.
I've noticed the same. There have been some cool cards, but there have also been cards that feel like they've had keywords slapped on them just because - often keywords not typically associated with that colour or plane too, with no obvious justification, eg they keep putting Overload on non-r/u cards

Kozilek could be a solid to good sideboard against blue/white control. They don't necessarily have any creatures I'd be extremely afraid of.
Do you HAVE to manifest? If an opponent was holding two cards and you chose them would they be forced to manifest both or could the choose not to? Might be a good way to deal with problem sorceries, artifacts, and instants that don’t have available mama.

Geode Grotto, Flamekin Village, Hanwier Battlements, And SLayer's Stronghold all can give creatures haste too.
Yes but for those ypu need to activate the ability in addition to casting your creature.
Hall of the Bandit Lord and Arena of Glory give you mana to cast the creature and the haste-granting effect is essentially free.
What is nice is when you turn them face up, the player misses out on ETB and cast triggers

The manifest isnt optional once you choose the players. So if opponent has two cards (presumably some board clear / big spells ), you can force them to turn the valuable cards into useless 2/2s.
Kozalek allows you to draw up too four cards and manifest two cards and possibly even remove a threat from your opponent's hand before they can use it.
Vexing Bauble reminds me of the Great Attractor's sense of humor.
Also a good type of turn-off or prevention card, like grafdigger's cage and ground seal for example.
Kozilek is “up to two target players”. You don’t have to target your opponent.
Wotc and/or hasbro are almost at their breaking point it feels like to me. They've pulled out all the stops because they know making busted cards pushes sales, so now they've created this absolutely/overwhelmingly overpowered set to try and make a proverbial flood of money. 😢
This set is less generically powerful than MH2, with cards that are more build-around. Honestly, I think they did a great job this time.

Kozilek is arbitrary hand-rip. If you're targeted for the Manifest ability, you _must_ turn two of your cards into bears, _and_ Kozilek's controller gets to draw two cards. Forcing an opponent to Manifest 2 cards only turns into a drawback if the morph lets the player dodge a drawback such as Phlage's EtB sac. I'd figuratively bet that it's more likely to disrupt their game plan.

Arena of glory is a wildly powerful card. I’ve played amulet land decks in modern for years, an untapped red land that can basically give any creature haste? It’s going to be a field day untapping this as a new ancient tomb card. It’s not even legendary!

Commander Horizons 3 is looking More and More like the most falsely advertised set for modern.
Basking Broodscale also goes infinite with: Rosie Cotton of South Lane, a card from the LOTR set
Late to the party but there are two other things at the top of my head that go Infinite with it:
- Cathar's crusade
- (And maybe) Juniper Order Ranger?
i don't see a opponent benefiting very often from kozilek manifest target both you and opp you get 2 5/4s they get 2 2/2s and it very well could have hit their combo pieces ore removal in the process and if it hits a creature ETB effects don't go off so best they will get are things that have flip effects already and since the ability is up to if their deck is problematic or the board state is in their favor already you can always not choose them

Vexing bauble... also it counters all 0 cost spells in their normal mode. If this hits, every 0 mana artifact is useless. It also shuts off cascade and suspend.. Could be damn useful, and maybe too swingy for formats relying on zero cost stuff.
Kozilek is actually quite strong, is a 9 mana get rid of 2 cards from opponent since is no you may clause is a you have to manifest and give me 2 cards from opponent and maybe 2 cards from me. Are just 3/2 creatures, who cares if you give them bodies lol.

He mentioned that. There's also the old Heliod and Soul Warden trick that was used with Scurry Oak, but that's a 3 card combo; doing it that way does get you infinite life as well, though.

The amount of time and energy to fake 1 card is enough to fill up your day. And to have so many at varying degrees of quality and take pictures of the fake cards then post them all would be too much work for little to no reward.
Kovy actually dies to removal just like that show. So it's not a problem
there are other lands that give haste, like the one used in amulet titan decks

Vexing Bauble shuts down Cascade, Evoke.
Tokens don't go to the graveyard though right there were a few others I've seen to combo with that though
tokens do go to the graveyard, they just cease to exist once they get there.

Tokens can change zones to any zone, but they are dissipated from that zone as a state-based effect, so a token can touch your hand or library as well, but will then cease to exist before anything can be done about it.
I’m kinda a fan of them bringing more energy support it feels awkward in the modern setting but still cool to see.
I want a hate card that takes care of all mana cheating. Reanimation AND free casting. It would be so nice for decks that just want to play cards for the listed mana cost.

Your opponent manifesting is not a 'may' effect. If your opponent has noncreatures or creatures that only care about etb stuff, this is doing a discard impression.

There is very possibly an etymology here that's not just mashing two easy english words together
Phlegein is Ancient Greek for "to burn", and is where the word phlegm stems from (one of the body's four humours in Ancient Greek medicine, alongside black bile, yellow bile, and blood). I assume that this is the etymology of the Titan, but flah-gee sounds better than flee-gee as a name.
So why wasn't vexing bauble introduced in modern horizon 2, could ofbreally helped against all the powercrept free elementals.... 🤔

The kozilek seems a little on the weaker side honestly. Like possibly the weakest of the legendary eldrazi. Situational strength. The second half is pretty damn good though.
It's good at control and knowledge, which are Kozilek's strengths. I like the hand disruption aspect of it, as well as adding 19 power to the board. Idk it seems decent to me, especially if you can sneak in a couple massive beaters and then blink them to turn them up.
there are so many broken cards in this set, the game is going to devolve into response wars on the first two turns and come down to the last player to resolve their response and play out there combo or broken synergy to win on the spot; just like what Yu-Gi-Oh has become. The meme "welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh" has come true to Magic The Gathering thanks to Modern Horizons 3. It's just going to get worse and worse as this set created a new standard in power creep that will just keep getting worse.

Ahaaha, so many broken cards this is a normal Modern Horizons set. MH1 was a good warmup, MH2 was bonkers with all these free spells and MH3 so far promises more brokenness.
I for one am thoroughly disappointed by MH3. I opened three collector boxes and got four copies of fury, a modern banned card. I don’t commander what am I gonna do with all these commander only card that I got? The value was not there for me at all in my three boxes I may as well just flushed my money down the toilet. MH3 is overpriced and underpowered and I’d be OK with that if it was a modern product but it’s not it’s a commander product. Fuck wizards of the coast for putting all these non-modern cards in our premier modern product.

Guy at my LGS pointed out that Evolution Witness itself is perfectly priced to free-cast w/ Aluren. So get ready for the next chapter of Temur Sabertooth shenanigans.
Temur S. Bounces Evolution Witness to hand, Aluren lets you free cast 3CMC or less. Just add something like Tribute to the World Tree and you’re set up for recursion to make Black proud.
Normally, I wouldn’t be impressed by a 3 card combo, but these are 3 cards a Green deck would be playing anyways.
