Laura A. Pace, MD, PhD is a Neurogastroenterologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with complex disorders at the interface of gastroenterology, neurology, immunology, and genetics. She is a co-investigator of the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) and has led a research program investigating autonomic nervous system, connective tissue, and mast cell disorders. She is also investigating the role that the gastrointestinal microbiome plays in the development of neuroimmune disorders.
Dr. Pace presented on Gastrointestinal Concerns in Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS), discussing motility, immune health, and microbiota.
This is a truely, truely insightful talk! The non-IgE allergies part is definitely needed for all diagnossi for IBS patients. IBS doctors would say you don't have allergy, period ans IgE test is negative......But you suffered clearly by eating something particularly.

My daughter was diagnosed with ehlers-danlos, she suffers several problems but here in Brazil there is no specialist, and if there is, it is not for the poor. every time she goes to the doctor she is treated like a virus. My dream is for her to have adequate treatment and respect in times of pain and fatigue

Unfortunately that is in most places from what I have heard. It seems that the UK is doing a lot of work over there now and some doctors in the US as well.

That's really neat! I have something akin to IBS though never formally diagnosed and I honestly have no idea what my digestive system is going to do from day to day. It could be fine for nearly a week and then I'll have diarrhea or lots of cramping and urgency out of the blue. Something like what you mentioned that can look for hidden allergies or sensitivities would be great.

This is really interesting and helpful. I'm interested in learning more about this. Also, in patients with these ultra long transit times without degradation of nervous tissue, have you had success with bile acids like oxbile, tudca or taurine?

Hello, the manufacturer of the smart pill discontinued its production, what would be a alternative test for intestinal and colonic motility if there is no more wireless motility capsule?

I was trying to put funds together to take my daughter to see her at Metrodora… but once she left - I don’t want another doctor but her! She is ON TARGET with the problems my daughter has! I’m trying to find her too!!
Is Dr. Pace no longer with Metrodora?
I would like to see her or a GI specialist with her level of unique knowledge, as it relates to CTD and these problems.

@@lizwhitmore1266 all I know is she suddenly left and did not notify any of her patients at Metrodora or tell them where she was going.
