Just a project I've been working on, dt466 in a 2000 f350. Looking for suggestions on videos you'd like to see with this truck. Let's hear your input, any questions feel free to ask in the comments.
Haha thanks. I did drive it like a month ago and I just took it around the block and blew the trans. Just got the new trans in and I’m wrapping some stuff up so more videos will be out shortly.
I can do that. I got the truck done a while ago, took it on a short drive and popped the head gasket. Doing some other work to it right now while I got it apart but more videos to come
Wow, congrats on a legendary swap. The dt466 is a glorious armored tank. An extra 500lbs isnt much to worry about IMO. Id be really curious to hear what kind of true mpg it gets on the highway. Not that mpg are too of much concern on a build like this. Put a load behind it and Im sure it would get about the same as 5.9, 7.3, 6.0, 6.4 ect. but sooo much more tourque and capability. Id be kinda worried about a stock auto behind it with all that tourque. For longecity id personally have to use a med duty manhal trans Or preferably the zf6. Nevertheless you got one badass rig, nice job. Do you know when you might make another vid?
@@codycarlson2865 Nice! Great job btw! I know that kind of swap can be pretty involved so congrats on sticking throught it and gettin her done. You just cant beat the 466... 500 lbs for 1.7 extra literes and and a 1::2.5 hp-tourque ratio is just is just awesome!!!
A manual transmission would be cool , but that Is the coolest swap I've seen, practical as well..I don't know how many DT 466 s are left out there available, made tons of them, earliest versions I believe were mainly used tractors in the 70's .. used to have a little international DUMP truck with one ..tough little beast.
Would love to get more in depth about the swap, where did you get the trans adapter, how about the motor mounts, is this the 466e or mechanical? If it’s the electronic one what did you do for wiring and harness and such? Thanks
Trans adapter and flex plate are from Carson stauffer diesel. I think you can buy motor mounts from them but I made my own. It’s mechanical. Truck has changed a lot since that video. I’ll get a more in depth video here in the next few weeks
Put a Stainless Diesel 5 blade 475 on it. New injector setup. Got the trans back in. Just need to do power steering and then take it on another test drive
I will be getting the truck back out to keep working on it. For one the trans controller I got isn’t good at all. Got the US shift quick 4 and I need to get a PCS on it. Head needs to come back off as well. Couple things here and there but I’m not giving up on it. The 7.3 I still have yes.
@@DarkBowser2009 It was a series of 4 and 6 cylinder diesel engines for the medium duty market. They were found mainly in Freightliner medium duty trucks
You can get that to idle a hell of a lot better. Try adjusting the idle and buffer screws on the back of the pump. There's videos to help you. RSV governor buffer adjustment. Those big fuel lines and your pump only pumping 600cc aren't helping either.
Yeah I haven’t really messed with the idle yet. I know it can idle a lot smoother but I’m working out some kinks and getting a different stall in the trans so I was going to wait till then. It won’t idle like that when it’s completely done.
The video I do have the throttle cable would slip and wouldn’t pull full throttle. I need to pull the head back off for the head gasket. I’m waiting on the constant pressure manual valve body to fully come out for the 4R as well. I don’t care for the trans controller I have
Any idea how much additional weight you added up front? Did you cut the firewall? Any clearance issues with axle or cross member? Sorry for all the questions. Haha.
If I had to guess about 500 lbs extra. Didn’t cut any firewall. I got the mini spring pack to raise the front a little bit to have the pan clear the axle better which I haven’t put on yet
@@codycarlson2865 thanks for the reply... I have been looking to do this to my 2wd. You running a medium duty trans or using an adapter? You think you will be able to keep radiator/intercooler up front? Looks like space might be limited.

GM should have stuck with the Detroit engine and just make it an inline 6 instead of going with the duraless-max. Then I would have never had to turn to a dodge to get a durable engine
@@codycarlson2865 ik I really am kicking myself, I was going to get a dt466 ngd model but then my boss said I could have his 7. 3 service van so I used that as my donor for my swap. like he said, in stock form sure, but these engines have insane potential. Like making more power on the stock block than a billet block cummins potential.
I will post more videos of it on here as well as Facebook. Got the truck ready all ready to drive but had some stuff come up to where I wasn’t able to take it out and perfect it just yet

How hard were the motor mounts? I’ve got an 02 I’m looking at dt360 swapping but can’t find anything on whereabouts the motor mounts go.
Real easy actually. On the trans adapter there is 2 holes on each side. You’ll bolt your motor mounts there.
