    That parrot of Joe Lala's was NOT a parrot, but an amazing Scarlet Macaw named Bongo! Joe used to leave Bongo at my house while gigging. One day my mother and step-father were visiting me in Van Nuys from Las Vegas. I walked into my house not knowing that they had not yet arrived. Their little dog was hiding in a bedroom and Bongo was nowhere to be found. The dog was covered around its mouth with hundreds of bird feathers! I was afraid that the dog ATE Bongo! Well.......The upshot to this whole story is that Joey had taken Bongo to gig at a Bee Gee's concert and Bongo had his own chrome bird stand for on stage! I love you Lee Sklar and enjoy all of your videos and your playing!

    The year was 1989 and I was a young pup working in a lumber yard in Denton, Tx. and this guy pulls into the yard for some lumber in a U- haul truck. When he opened the door, there were drum cases with the name Russell Kunkel on them! Another guy came in later and he owned half the square in Denton. His name was Clint Ballard, jr... He wrote , "You're No Good" for Linda Rondstadt!. I was so lucky!

    Oh my God! I can’t believe that you two are together again, from the old James Taylor days. I’m stunned that you two are back together and hanging out. I seriously freaking can’t believe I’m seeing this. Two of the masters of music and player’s from my youth, I just can’t believe it! No shit, Leland is just like Ronnie Wood, in that he is just as competent in another medium than music. I absolutely loved this segment.

    i love the fake switch anecdote..over the last 30 years i've played bass at a lot of gigs and ironically once i was asked to do something with my sound by someone i suspected of being a blow hard sound guy so i thought i'd do a little experiment and PRETENDED to move my knob and looked up with a how's that?..when i got the thumbs up i realized that i learned a new trick..it hasn't come up often but when it does i know what to do..lol.

    Russ... you still have those Roger North drums that were on the cover of “Running on Empty”? Roger’s from right here in Portland, OR where I live and like myself and all the other local drummers, we’d walk into a local club when he was developing the design and the first thing out of our mouths would be “... what the fuck?!?!” Seems they were mainly designed to project into the room at small, local clubs.

    • @paulcaplin2764
      @paulcaplin2764 Před 4 lety +5

      @MorbidManMusic It's true... it IS a job. But if you're good, you get called a lot. Sklar has recorded something north of 25,000 songs, movie soundtracks, and has been busy since 1970. Likely, anytime you listen to the radio, or go to the movies, or watch stuff on TV, you're listening to him. His range is pretty much the complete musical spectrum. You don't get 50 years of continuous, high-level output if you're not in a class by yourself. There isn't a bass player living who can pull out a resume and discography like Sklar.
