Norway, on paper.. should sweep the jury. The vocal highly technical and performed out of this world, the composition is unique and blends modern with old, staging is high value and slick. (The MGP staging also lends itself really well to this years ESC stage).

I agree with you. Winner vibes! Hope Norway do well, but ESC is often unpredictable.

You've got a great point. Even during MGP Gåte wasn't the instant favorite to win. Many just didn't believe it would click with jury and televoting so that it can win, but it happened and they became favorites after the live performance!

I've gotta say it...Norway is my fav to win at the moment, which I can't quite believe 😂 the actual song is barely in my top 10 but as an overall package I just feel like it has it all. The live performance gives me the same goosebumps as a brit watching Sam Ryder's and I think this year it could definitely do WELL ENOUGH with the public and jury to creep to the top place - in a year where the points will be very spread out imo......all this being said, it could be totally blanked and finish right hand side😂

I really agree with you, it is the only song that gives me strong winner feels.

As a Norwegian, I am of course biased - and I completely agree with you!

It's not Gunnhild performing the concluding metal growl verse, it's her nephew under the artist name STORM.

From the first time I heard this I was mesmerized, to me this is the best enrty to Eurovision ever. So I hope you are right, but I'm afraid juries and also televoters are narrowminded, especially when it comes to guitars in Eurovision. I've heard it so many times now and it does something to me, I hope this effect will also happen at the big stage for other people.

    Summary:
    1. Gåte made their performance look like their own concert, professional performer
    2. Even if alternative song it stands chance because Eurovision viewers are open to different stuff
    3. The song is original and has identity, begins with very unique sound, but also has some electronic elements that make the song more accessible
    4. You might not subjectively like the song, but the singing and performing skill deserves some objective reward
    5. Norway has momentum and is expected to do well by default
    6. The song feels grandious and tells the story, Gåte owns the stage and draws attention
    7. The history tells different sounds tend to be appreciated a lot

This is the only song this year that blows me away, hard.
There are some more songs that gets my thumb up, this year.
But this is the only song that will end up on my top 100 of all years.

Swedens entry is of 2 twins from Norway. They would never had won the votes if they did that song for Norway.

I think if people knew what the lyrics are about and if it is is put into a modern context it would hit even harder.
Evil stepmother puts a spell on a girl, that can only be liftet if she (kills) drinks her brothers blood. Damned if she do and damned if she doesn't. Living in the woods, away from temptation, she by chance meet her stepmother. Overtaken by understandable hate, she attacs and kills her stepmother. Her curse is suddenly liftet, because her stepmother was pregnant with her half-brother. Her blood was also her half-brothers.
Modern context; If you tolerate this then your children will be next. It hits both ways in the Israel - Palestine conflict. By effort to kill her enemys beloved ones, she sealed the fate of her own beloved one. If you wage war on your enemys children...

I really appreciate how deeply you think these things through. And you make a lot of good points. That being said, holy hat I hope you're wrong. LOL! I know a lot of people love this song, and Norway is generally really proud of their entry. And it certainly does have substance and the singer certainly is amazing. But to me, its a fairy tale about a wicked stepmother (no thank you!) with a lot of wailing (again, no thank you.) I realize she isn't wailing and that she's actually doing something vocally that takes a lot of skill and talent. It just sounds awful to me. LOL!
Anyway....looking forward to your next video! (Folks who follow other channels - I'd love it if people would share about Reese's channel in the comments of other CZcamsr's videos. They all seem to really support one another, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind! It would be just lovely if it could get over 1K followers by the end of the season!)
