- Ireland at this time of year is perfection. Here are a few lovely days at home in gorgeous Galway. We are extremely wholesome this week picking blackberries for our baking, having Guinness by the sea and enjoying the sunsets together.

I’m halfway through Seven husbands and Daisy Jones is on My list as well. The Midnight Library has been on my sit FOR YEARSSSS I love the author. He also wrote “A boy called Christmas” which Netflix turned into a movie last year. LOVE it.

My mother was from Caherciveen (father from Rosslare), but I haven’t been back since I was 9 years old. I turned 70 this summer and think I had better hurry up! Would like to spend several weeks, and be based in Galway, so this was lovely to see!

@@stephanieblaaa Yes, it's in the works, but it's not an inexpensive trip. I'm discovering that finding affordable lodging, especially for a single person, is a challenge, so I put it off to save a little more... then, of course, prices go up again. It's a conundrum, but I must be happy for the region that it's popular even if that doesn't really work for me. In the meantime, I have some vicarious Ireland in your videos. Thanks for that!

for your dog, I would call it ocd (obsessive compulsive behaviour of some kind) . Personally, I would try to stop my dog from doing it, as it can escalade over-time and create anxiety for the dog. I'm not telling you that "you should" stop her, but that "I" would try to stop my dog doing it, since I think it can create anxiety for them. Maybe asking a pro behaviour specialist to help would be nice, in case you ever want to try ???!

@@stephanieblaaa hehe =) lots of dogs do have things like that. Some will get obsessed over toys, digging in the garden, chasing lights or shadows or chasing their own tail ^^! Some have "the licking their paws until it hurts them" obsession,...or things that can hurt them even more. So at least the one she has isn't dangerous for her =)
Maybe if you're interested, just try to redirect her attention with some tasty smelling food as soon as you know she will start doing it. And see if that helps. Like having a small piece of treat/ham...etc. in your hand ready, as soon as you feel she's going to start (or if she already has started), make her smell it in your hand and redirect her to her food bowl, putting only a little bit of the treat on top of her kibbles (so she doesn't get fat by eating too many treats! haha).
if you can catch her just before she starts, that's even better. as soon as she does the right behaviour , you give affection and food.
Trying to be consistent with it for a little while. Dogs are generally wayyyyy better than humans to let go of bad habits! So if you consistent, there's a lot of chance that you can break her pattern habits in no time.
if you notice that you're struggling , consult a pro directly and maybe help her drain a little more of her pent up energy by taking her on longer walks or doing other activities. =) Keep us updated if you ever try to do help her that way or see a pro. that would be interesting.

@@stephanieblaaa I grew up in Galway in the 1970's. I grew to hate the poverty and eternally crappy weather. I live in the southern USA now, and much prefer the wealth and the weather. I am happy that Ireland has become better off.

this came up on my fy page and i really enjoyed your video. very wholesome. i was wondering how you rate your books? i find that a lot of people highly rate books with a good plot but aren’t well written in my opinion, and everyone values different things out of a book so i would love if you could include how you rate books in a video❤
Oh that is interesting I never thought about my scale. It's probably a mix. The plot is very important to me. But if a book is well written (like Song of Achilles comes to mind) it'll naturally go up in the scale too. Being invested in the characters and being happy with the ending is imp too :)

Americans use the word “lox” because that word is Hebrew/Yiddish in origin. Especially in NYC, with a large Jewish population and lots of Jewish-owned bagel shops!
I never knew that! The Jewish-owned bagel spots in NYC were my faveeee. But the lox was so pricey!! Maybe it's because we are a small island here in Ireland and have salmon farmed on our shores?
