  • Hi Everybody! Let's make a San Antonio Bean Burger! This originated from it's namesake in Texas and it features refried beans, cheez whiz and FRITOS!
    We're making refried beans from scratch! It's easier than you think! Here's some more info if you are new to using dry beans: www.centralbean.com/storing.html

    Immersion Blender: amzn.to/38j70Cl
    My goal at THEE BURGER DUDE is to show vegans and non-vegans alike how easy it is to make delicious and decadent vegan meals. I used to eat a lot of meat and dairy before going vegan, so this channel is aimed at people like myself before going vegan. Additionally, I totally welcome any vegans who might be missing one of their favorite fast food or comfort food meals as well, come on in! I want to show that you can still have burgers, mac n' cheese, fried chick’n and any other kind of comfort food, and that it’s possible with plant-based ingredients.
    If you’re new to veganism and don’t know where to start, or if you’re totally new to cooking, or new to both, then I hope you find something on this site that piques your interest and are inspired to cook! And if you have any questions please contact me!

    Another awesome burger pic, amazing how it's completely edible too. Are you doing colour grading and stuff or is this just proper white balance? I really like the look of your vids.

    This reminds me of the burger road stand texas/Mexico that served a burger with refried bean paste on top, best burger I ever had! What about making seitan burgers with this!

    Love your channel, and have used a couple of your tips as of recent. Couple of things on this burger through. It happens (or happened to be when I was not a vegan) to be one of my favorite burgers here in San Antonio. Originated at a place called "Rogers drive in", which no longer exists, but is still part of the menu at quite a few places. "Mamma's Cafe" probably has the best now... So, the things that I wanted to address. The burger does not have "Cheez whiz", or just onions on it. It will have a Cheddar or peppered cheese, and Pico dillo (a mix of tomatoes, onions, jalapeno, lime.. Chopped and mixed together). Oh, and just another fyi.,. Frito's were actually invented here is SA also.. Cool huh? Anyway, try it with the pico dillo, and just melt some Cheddar,. You will love it. Thank you again for your channel.

      @TheeBurgerDude  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks!! It’s funny when researching the burger there seems to be some variations. I think you could totally add Pico or pickled jalapeños too!! This is modeled after the one George Motz highlighted. And supposedly this guy invented it en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Stehling

    Because pennies and paper clips are literally as likely to be found in your beans as a rock. At least in the US. No joke. I’ve never found a rock but I did accidentally drop a penny in once.

    Must make! You really don’t season this burger though? Was thinking adobo, no? Also, I finally have access to Violife’s Epic Mature Cheddar block &, melted, I totally believe the hype! If you’ve tried it melted, do you think it would be a good sub for the Daiya?

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  Před 3 lety +1

      Impossible is pretty salty as is, but adobo would be good! I used it on my chopped cheese. Yes epic mature would be great!

    • @madonna816
      @madonna816 Před 3 lety

      @@TheeBurgerDude huge fan of the chop cheese (had my first one in 2019)! One of the reasons I like the Adobo on it. Thought it might kick it up, when pairing with the cheese sauce & refried beans. Also, TY for answering! Totally adding this to next weekend’s menu! 🥂 (Side: I grew up next to a Frito-Lay factory. Place made the entire neighborhood smell like Fritos. As is the case with capitalism, they moved away for cheaper pastures.)

    Aside from avoiding unsweetened plant milk, who else has made the mistake of using unsweetened plant milk that INCLUDES VANILLA? Who wants vanilla in their cheese sauce? YUCK! I'm glad to see some manufacturers omitting vanilla lately. I mean, vanilla is great, but I want my plant milk to be versatile. I'll add my own vanilla if needed. **climbing down from soapbox**
