That last scene where Gamzatti literally said "but can you really do it?" is so arrogant and confident it's intimating, which is so far from the emotions she's showing while begging to Nikiya to let go of Solor. Natalia is such an amazing actress and so is Marianela.
I love that Natalia gives the role of Gamzatti a more nuanced character. Gamzatti's situation is pretty sad. She's set to marry the man she loves but he loves someone else and has even made a sacred vow to never love anybody else.
I have watched a version that is Nunez(here as Nikita) as the princess, it makes her very stately, but I like Osipova’s version more since she IS GAMZATTI, her emotion makes her very elegant but she can also be a jealous princess and she can well control the character’s feelings. And Nunez is a real Nikita, she is very suitable for this difficult character, she need to explain her love for Solor to the princess, but she cannot be impolite to Gamzatti. I like it!
I've never seen any dancer do the little "Oh really ? Go ahed, I'm calling your bluff" gesture at the end as Gamzatti, and I think this is an absolutely brilliant take on this scene.
My two faves!! But I would have loved it the other way around, Nunez last variation in the temple as Gamzatti is just pure perfection, while the death of Nikiya is perfect for Natalia
The great OSIPOVA devouring Covent Garden stage. Her commanding Gamzatti doesn't walk, she stalks. Perfect and brilliant, a Cobra dueling with a bunny 🐰 rabbit.

Gamzatti, knowing her father was going to kill her, even tried to save her by offering her money and jewels in exchange of Solor... She ended willing her death after Nikiya, in madness, unconsciously tried to kill her...
For me, other than Rojo (Nikiya) and Nunez (Gamzatti), no pairing of Nikiya and Gamzatti is more intense than these two. Osipova as Gamzatti is so insecure, yet arrogant as she tries to get her way. You can see that she still has inner conflict, and you still feel sympathetic though she's domineering. And for Nela as Nikiya, you can feel so much regret and shame as soon as she realizes that she's pulled out a knife on Gamzatti; it's like she fears that she is truly losing control of herself. Both of them have two dimensions for these characters, and I love it. Gamzatti goes to being in despair to putting on a royal face, all the way to begging for Nikiya to take the jewels in exchange, and then she becomes so sly and arrogant. Nikiya asks for forgiveness, but then seems to finally lose her last straw. I could go on about this interpretation.
Wow, I'm really not used to seeing Marianela as Nikiya because I have the DVD of this ballet and in that she's Gamzatti 😂 she nails both parts tho as expected
Osipova is brilliant as Gamzatti. Very clear and strong with what she is expressing. Nunez, as always, looks like she is trying not to loose control of her bowels. That is all I ever get from her.

Am I off here or was Osipova a little show of early pregnancy?💝 or perhaps a good long vacation of healthy relaxation of rest and food?☺ Signs of body change comes eventually for women, too? 💃🏻 She is a tremendous gift to the ballet...many internal pieces she pulls out of herself for role characterizations with her technical ability that fills the canvas stage! Bravado that she is.
Natalia as Gamzatti, Marianela as Nikiya, PERFECTION! Both dancers were stunning in their roles and Vadim made it a powerhouse performance all round.

They did do it the other way around. The Royal Ballet had them alternate rolls.
