So was Ladoga Rus (approximately 859-862), Novgorod Rus(862-882), Vladimir Rus(1243-1389), then Moscow Rus (1389 -1547 (or 1478)). It was just Rus'. You did not indicate that due to the collapse of the USSR and the beginning of privatization, Russia was plunged into poverty and lost its entire industry in the 90s. These are some of the most difficult years for Russia, when inflation was several hundred percent, salaries were not paid to people for months, medicine was at a deplorable level, and crime increased many times ... Just because of the collapse of the USSR, so many oligarchs appeared in Russia who, before they are still stealing our natural resources and making billions on it.

The Hungry 90 are the exaggerated ravings of communists who were thrown off from Russia as parasites. Relative to the 20s or 30s in Russia, this is paradise. The 90 was full of pluses. For example, cultural integration with the West, elimination of shortages, commodity boom, development of private business. Also, if 90 was a bad time, then why did powerful economic growth begin in 2000 after the devastation? Everyone here pours diarrhea on Yeltsin, despite his merits. But instead they love the tyrant Stalin, who was one of the reasons for the collapse of the USSR.

Of course, I really like how some Europeans, like this Portuguese, "masterfully" characterizes countries. My friend, your ideas about a country like Russia are very poor and formulaic. Your European perception and representation of our country is kind of old-fashioned, formulaic, or something... I assure you, the world is not limited to your Europe or the States and is much broader and more diverse. And yes, Russia is not going anywhere, against the background of you - we are only getting stronger.

I think (as a non Russian) in this video should be specified also one thing which is "How Russia established beginning of REAL POWER". I mean, I think that one of the most omitted parts of Russian history in such videos is Russia unification. But why? We are talking about the unification of the Rus lands (although not all of them, because at the beginning, when Moscow united the Rus', it did not unite Kiev and Minsk, which were united some time later after break up of Kievan Rus with Lithuania and later with Poland) through the unification of Moscow, Novgorod, Polotsk, Ryazan, Tver, etc., which was a very important element in the development of Russian power (especially if it goes about money, trade and military) and the beginning of the complete breakdown/conquest/destruction of the former (no longer existing) Mongolian khanates such as Nogai, Crimea, Golden Horde etc. by Ivan IV Terrible (which literally started this by conquering and burning down whole Kazan and taking khan wife and relocate her later to Moscow). Also in those Khanates were living Ugro-Finnic people that helped Russians after they started their conquest. Imo this part of Russian history is very important because shows (also for non Russian people) how important is to stay united and is also important to know for rest of europeans because Russia stopped Mongol Empire to grow even stronger. Who knows? Maybe if not Russians today Germans/French would speak Turkich language (Oh irony, migration politicy do this anyway xd), we know how badly for Roman Empire after barbaric invasions ended up. Same with Poles, they stopped Ottomans from conquering Austria and maybe further Germany, yet seems like no one really remember about this/no one even mention that...

No, people have come to the idea that they want to be communists and have created a new state. Do you think if they hated this state, they would have won the 2nd World War? (You can say something about protective detachments and I will partially agree with you, yes, there were protective detachments that did not allow desertion, but still, people would have fought much worse for what they do not value)

@@anxiety_ghostboy I'm not saying bad things necessarily happened there. I'm saying that the reason people mostly loved Stalin was because of his massive boastful propaganda campaign. This is independent from whether the conditions there were horrible or not.
Either way, that's something that can be at the very least deduced by historical records investigated decades after decades after the events and then the pieces of the puzzle only get glued together from there on. That's the whole job of historians: They don't rely upon the isolated perspective of a single person or small group of people. But many USSR documents still remain classified to this day, so I guess we'll never know for sure, at least for the tome being. You can thank that to your government's extreme secrecy to _everything_ due to its still authoritarian nature.
