    You know, if there was no golden ending to speak of, I'd have probably chosen this ending of the three... in spite of the fact that you're essentially abandoning the whole realm to be consumed by the fires or war, at least the people that suffered the most would've escaped the war's grasp.
    R.I.P. Serenoa though.... :(

  • @0axis771

    Out of the three endings, it's not about which ending is best overall. All have pros and cons, but out of the three character route endings, this has to be my favorite. This is the route where Serenoa felt the most resolved and determined to see the path through. On the other routes, Serenoa didn't feel as strongly resolved and more just went along with it because the scales said to.

  • @Protonyght
    @Protonyght Před 2 lety +43

    Man, Serenoa's sacrifice really got me... The reactions of all the characters add so much to this scene.
    First of all there is Frederica, desperately refusing to let Serenoa go. Her desperation is especially heartbreaking regarding their feelings for each other and the wedding they had planned for Centralia.
    Then there is Erador, trying to defend his lord until the very end by offering to take his place, willing to die instead of him.
    And finally there is Roland - as Serenoa's best friend, he does not hesitate to save him at first. But once Serenoa entrusts him with his final wish of taking the others to safety, he immediately reacts, despite being terrified by having to leave his friend behind. I just love this detail so much, it really just shows how deep their friendship is. Serenoa knows he can trust Roland to comply with his request.
    The game did really well at making me like all the characters and this ending hit me right in the feels. While I expected the story to be good, I did not expect it to be _that_ emotional, but this game really surpassed all my expectations.
    Most likely my GOTY, can't wait to see how the other three endings will turn out.

    I chose this ending. Yeah, it's naive, but it felt the closest to finding a way to get to the source of everyone's conflict - salt (besides the Golden Ending which I haven't seen yet, didn't get the requirements). The whole game is just endless conflict, this felt like the only way to find a new path that didn't eventually lead to revenge and more struggles. Even if it meant abandoning them all.

      I would say Benedict's ending is better than this. In this ending Norzelia is just in case and constant war. In Benedict's things are relatively peaceful, but poverty exists because of capitalism. So... it's kind of like America now. America may have poverty but at least it isn't constantly at war.
      Admittedly though, the Rosellans get a really good deal in Frederica's ending though.

    • @maomi1852
      @maomi1852 Před 10 měsíci

      @@waitselljones8068I chose Benedict's ending too and I think it didn't make much sense how it ended ... Of course poverty exists in a capitalistic society but
      A) Serenoa was always so proud of being Lord Wolfort how did he left it fall into complete poverty?
      B) The village with the Roselle in the Wolfort Demenese was not rich but it wasn't poor as well, they established themselves and had a stable lifestyle. Why didn't they help their Rosellan counterparts and invited them to live together? From what I gathered they lived mostly out of Nature, hunting and gathering and it was so fruitful that Benedict even mentions that almost half of Wolfort's supplies comes from the Rosella village. If so they would have plenty for a couple more what, hundred Rosellan? They didn't seem to amount to a great number of people. Plus, they had already interacted with Frederica and Serenoa plenty of times they could very well ask for an audience. Not only that but Frederica was so determined at the end of the game, it doesn't make much sense that she would just shut up at Benedict's suggestions... Serenoa took her side plenty of times, certainly he would hear her and try to do something about it. Plus, Frederica could always be the oke to travel as a patron to aid the needy, it is one of the things queen's usually did, to practice charity.
      C) Why wouldn't they search for Isidore? I know that they are busy with reconstructing the realm but certainly they have more spies in hand than Anna? It's like she's the only spy they have. After being betrayed and backstabbed so many times and learning of the lies that Hyzanthe told for so many years why wouldn't they try to find and capture a man as dangerous as him? They just let him roam free to do whatever he wants?
      D) I find it strange that they let poverty reach a level where people are considering revolting... Benedict showed time over and over again how sharp he is, preventing catastrophes shortly before they happened... So why would he be so blind as to let things rot to this point? Surely they can enact regulating policies for the salt distribution and usage, as well as better welfare policies for the needy.
      E) I don't like it that Roland aligned himself with Isidore .. I know of the whole showdown that was between him and Serenoa but given their friendship of years I would much prefer he would contact him in secret to let him know his worries or have Serenoa search for him and employ him as a sort of vagrant good doer. I understand they don't want a happy ending because of the Golden Route... But anyway. I also thought it was the best of the 3 endings sand GR but there were many issues that should have been addressed.

      No ending is a particularly good outcome besides Golden.
      The reason I think this is the least bad of the 3 though is because it offers the most chance for change. The Rosellans get to return to their land and see the world beyond Norzelia and the war in Norzelia must surely end sometime. In the Benedict and Roland endings, you’re left with a stagnant continent with some severely screwed over people in both ways.
