    Save the brushes you use the most often as the startup so you do not need to append them every time :)

      Could you make custom startups for different uses? What if you're not always sculpting?

    Thanks for the tutorial. Honestly, this feels like typical Blender shenanigans. As much as I respect Blender for its insane value and capabilities, this video shows one of its biggest problems. Something that should be very quick requires an entire process for no sane reason. Absurd friction for just importing a custom brush... The whole asset handling is an overengineered mess that overly prioritized technical goals over the human factor. I say it as someone who coded in assembler and enjoyed it. But at least we've got modern flat color unreadable UI according to latest trends (started by designers who only care about aesthetics of how the UI looks on a screenshot in their portfolio). I hope I don't sound like a hater, because that's not my intention. I could write multi-page article praising how amazing Blender is, but its problems should be discussed more instead of the typical "just get used to it". I interacted with Blender for over 20 years, but I also use a ton of other stuff, so I lost hope I would ever get used to Blender's unique quirks. To be fair some expensive commercial software also have this kind of issues.

      Your assessment is spot on, I mean it took them 20 years to get an asset browser which even programs from 25 years ago like Raydream Studio had. Another similar problem is that is the expected behavior for any function is never the default behavior, there is always a ton of jigging things just to get them to behave the way you would expect them to behave out of the box.

      I get what youre saying even from a beginner stand point. I agree to a point of ignorance where I don’t really know how other programs work. I think it could be a more direct path to getting the brushes to work. My concerns are mostly in the mindset on how this is a free program, regardless of its quirks its quite excellent. I wonder if they have a bigger team these functions would be cleaned up. Just my thoughts though.

      Very true. It almost feels intentional, as if they want to leave room for paid add-ons. I'm in love with Blender, and I still feel like I couldn't ask for a better free 3D software. However, various problems have been accumulating for a while now, and it seems that only a few of them are being properly addressed, if at all. Instead, we see new versions with more questionable and user-unfriendly features, while older issues like the lag and excessive power usage when enabling shadows in the solid viewport or the sudden GPU power consumption of 190W+ when using Cycles with minimal objects to render remain unresolved.

      this is blender bread and butter , the more people make and create addon that should be free but instead sold the more money blender gets via the donation by this artist.

      @@rumur Absolutely if they had a bigger team there would be more resources to devote to papercuts and UX. That's why it's so important for as many people as possible to join the development fund. The massive cashflow they got over the last few years is the only reason Blender development has accelerated as much as it has.

    0:58 There's no "simply" append them in a new file... we want a sculpt brush *asset browser* .

    • @BlenderSecrets
      @BlenderSecrets  Před rokem +4

      Why not? Just go to File > Append, and find your file, then select the brushes you want. Of course, the brush shelf asset browser that's coming in the future will be even better. But for now, this works best.

    • @Cyber_Kriss
      @Cyber_Kriss Před rokem +3

      @@BlenderSecrets Yup... but I just can't wait for the asset browser for brushes. Appending is just too slow when one have lots of brushes to browse.
