sephiroth was never intended to be in the original story of the first kingdom hearts in the japanese version, he was more of a special boss in the final mix version. we were pretty fortunate we got to fight him in the american version. so the reason why they can't remember him in KH2 is because this is the first time Sephiroth appears to them story wise. hope that helps.

u dont actually play as king mickey against sephiroth (u only play as him if sora dies on certain boss fights) and to beat sephiroth u wanna lvl up all ure different forms and mayb get ultima keyblade
Mickey attacks alittle bit like Yoda. He's small and flips all around you while hitting with his weapon.

I beat the hell out of sephiroth in proud mode using kingdom key only. By onle I literally mean only equipped with kingdom keay only!!!!!!
